and no, not the Tree of Life:teeth:

We forgot to ask about this while we were there last month..

If you're driving by the AK on the Osceola Pkwy - going towards the Lodge... you can see EE, the ToL, then a *really* tall (what looks like a florida pine) tree..it's kind of over by the parade float storage buildings..

Is it a communications tower of some sort, complete with Disney AKTheme, or just a very tall tree?

(We saw it being planted/installed on our trip in Jan05, with a huge crane, and forgot to ask then as well!)

Any thoughts?
TIA!

I believe this is a cell tower that they are trying to disguise as a tree.

Thanks Cari!

We'd drive by every day, and say "we have to remember to ask.." and then promptly forget:)

Leave it to WDW to decorate a cell phone tower!:)

It probably is a cell tower "disguised" as a tree. We have one of those in a city not far from my house. They think it looks better, but it sticks out like a sore thumb!

I know I saw a photo of it with the caption that it's a well-disguised cellphone tower. I just can't recall if I saw it in the Unofficial Guide or on a website, but I'm sure we're talking about the same thing.

Several of them on property.. Look for a big one just east of the Epcot parking lots...

When I was on the Backstage Safari tour in November, our guide pointed it out and verified that that is what it is.

There's one of these on I40 near Raleigh, NC. It's actually not bad - it sticks out above the rest of the trees, but you have to get pretty close to actually see that it's a cell tower.

So it's not just Disney that themes their towers. :)

Mur!
