Animal Kingdom Contract Points Q

We own 150 points at BCV and my husband has been talking about buying a small number of points at AKL.

I was doing some research on resale prices and have not seen a single AKL contract with less then 80 points. And I only saw 2 contracts less then 100 points checking the three resale companies I know of. How possible will it be for me to find a contract under 100 points resale? I saw mostly 160 point contracts which is much more then we want to spend.

Small contracts are often hard to find for any resort not just AKV. Best to get on a waitlist with a broker.

When we bought at AKV 160 points were the minimum number of points you could buy as a new DVC owner. Thats why you see so many 160 contracts. Get on a waitlist and i'm sure you will find something soon.

The only small contracts are the ones where a owner added on and then decided to sell the add on or they had Disney break their purchase into smaller contracts. Most new owners don't even know that that option is available so you won't find very many smaller contracts via resale.

Sometimes small point contracts might not even make it to a website. Call a reseller and ask them to notify you when they get the contract you seek.

A lot of the smaller contracts disappeared after the 3/20. It's not you.

We bought an AKV 50 point Aug UY add-on before 3/20 and paid full asking price ($85). On 4/11, TSS had a 50 pt and a 55 pt Dec UY contract listed. That is our original UY, so at dinner we discussed buying one of them. I predicted that they would both be sold by the end of the evening. I called and took the 55 pt contract at asking price ($79). Fifteen minutes later the 50 point contract was listed as sale pending.

If you see one, call immediately and strongly consider asking the sale price, or someone may scoop you! I have not done the wait-list thing with a broker, but it certainly seems like a good idea!
