We will be in AK March 30th for early EMHs. Any suggestions for a good CS meal there? Also, is Tusker House at lunch worth it? --whats the good and the bad there...or eat somewhere on the boardwalk for supper, instead? <we can do one or the other> :confused3

I love both Flame Tree BBQ and Pizzafari. At FTB, the pulled pork sandwich and onion rings are fantastic and at Pizzafari, I love the Italian sandwich.

A lot of people would probably disagree with me, but I think that even though AK doesn't have a ton of CS options, what they do have is very good.

My family has always done Restaurantosaurus, but Flame Tree gets great reviews here. We did Yak and Yeti for lunch just over a week ago and thought it was very good, if you're willing to do a TS.

Haven't done the Tusker House lunch since we often have a Boma dinner during the week and the food looks similar.

Flame Tree BBQ is always a must for AK lunch for us! Walk far down in the seating area to get a quieter location and a view of Expedition Everest. Aside from the kamakazi birds begging around the table (it IS the Animal Kingdom after all) this is a great location and the the ribs/chicken/sandwiches are very good. The best ribs I've found at Disney.

I am looking at Flame Tree's menu now and looks like something my family will like!

Any suggestions on Ragland Road or Bongos downtown??? :confused3

Loved Tusker House, a big :thumbsup2 here! We had a late breakfast ADR and they were running really behind, so we got some breakfast and they encouraged us to stay as they were putting lunch out after our first plates. So, I can say that breakfast and lunch were both awesome!!

Also, Raglan Road turned out to be our favorite meal of the last trip. The food was absolutely wonderful (got the steak) and the best mac and cheese I have ever put in my mouth. Even though they were out of bread that night (????) we left so full and happy. We got a seat right at the stage for the band (that was a little loud, but not too bad). I would say definitely give it a try--we will be back there!

Yal & Yeti also has a walk-up counter service that was pretty good. The portions there were huge, 2 people could share.

Or if you choose to have a big dinner at The Baordwalk, just grab some eggrolls - there's a little cart in Asia that sells vegetable & shrimp ones & they're very cheap - I think $1.50 each.

FYI: Tusker House now has a lunch package with seating for the Nemo show (similar to the Fanstasmic package) We have not eaten at Tusker House yet, but it's on our list to try. We usually end up at Boma.

Loved Yak & Yeti TS, haven't tried their CS. Flame Tree is wonderful, Pizzafari's Italian sandwich is very good, not a huge fan of their pizzas.

Haven't tried Bongos or Raglan Road, but they're both on the to-do list :thumbsup2

we loved our meal at tusker house and are preparing to go back for lunch there again this trip. I find the AK gets really hot and appreciate having a ts restaurant to sit at for lunchtime.

Haven't been to Tusker House since they revamped and made ita buffet. Really lilke the Yak & Yeti CS.

We did the Nemo show lunch package during our xmas week trip on 12/30/08. It was well worth it on both fronts. The food at the Tusker House buffet was very good and a nice, relaxing lunch from the crowded AK. We arrived early but were seated at our 1:10pm time. You get a small postcard size pass from your waitress that you present at a back entrance to the Nemo show. You must go about 1/2 way along the regular line and then you will see the sign(you cut across the regular line). We had great seats and thought the show was fabulous, but I really appreciated not waiting for 60 minutes in line! I'm sure you will enjoy the meal and the show.

We've not been to Bongos in a while, but on previous trips the food was disappointing. Raglan Road is a favorite now though, food and atmosphere are very good. If you are hungry at dessert time, the bread pudding is out of this world, but filling. The entertainment later in the evening is good if you like to eat late.

There were 6 of us adults who ate lunch at Tusker House in Oct and everyone kept commenting on what a great lunch they had. We had 11:30am ressies so the food was very fresh and there was plenty to fill everyone up for a day at the park!

Anandapur Local Cafes (Yak & Yeti Counter Service), very good food, large portions. However seating here is tough, not enough seating and very few with umbrella covering. Flame Tree BBQ is very good with plenty of seating in a nice setting by the water. But beware of the birds and ducks, very aggressive.

Flame Tree BBQ is very good. We just ate there for the first time when we went New Years. Haven't done Tusker House but it is on my list for an ADR at the character breakfast when we go back in June.

If you get the chance, we did a return trip to Boma this last trip also. It is very good, and even though some people talk about some of the spices, there are plenty of choices otherwise, if you try something too spicy for your taste. I try to sample as much as possible to form my own opinions and have found most everything I have tried to be very good. The meats are always all delicious.

If you go to my trip report link in my sig, you will see some pictures of some of the foods at Boma.

For one of our days at AK we are doing Tusker House character breakfast first thing (we did this in Sept and if was FABULOUS) then we will have a late lunch/early dinner at our favorite Flame Tree.

We have never eaten at Raglan Road on Bongos...we love WPE and Earl of Sandwich in DTD too much to venture away from them on our DTD shopping days. :)

Thank you all sooo very much for your input :grouphug: I am still undecided on lunch, but it looks like we WILL be trying Jiko's for Dinner at the lodge ::yes:: we have never been, so I am PSYCHED!!! :p

We almost always eat at Flame Tree BBQ while at AK. Love the relaxing seating by the river, and we always enjoy the food. :thumbsup2
