animal crossing..question about certain items for sale

I've recently started playing animal crossing city folk and am still getting used to the game. am curious...can you do anything with a hand cart or a bird feeder? I assumed I could hang the bird feeder in one of my trees, but no such luck. and I assumed I could use the handcart as decoration outside of my house or use it to plant things in or whatever, but again, can't seem to be able to use it.

am I missing something?

also, is there any way to get more storeage inside my house? I seem to only be able to place things on the ground floor.

Nope they are only for show in your house. You need to buy a dresser and that gives you lots of drawers in your house. Or you can go to the post office and store letters (which you put your stuff in the letters) hope this helps.
