Has anyone done a day trip (on there own) to Anguilla when you arrive in St. Martin? I see the Disney boat now arrives at 8:00AM and departs at 7:30PM.

I'm interested in either renting a car or using a taxi to travel across the island and then take a ferry to Anguilla for the day.

Does anyone have a tips on making such a trip? If you do, would you share them.

We are going to be on the May 15th Eastern Caribbean cruise.

Thanks - Nancy

On our cruise last summer, we chartered a cigarette boat and spent the day in Anguilla. It was beautiful. We had a wonderful day. Anguilla is private, no hotels.

Our kids loved it too. They have the whitest most private beaches we've ever been seen. For more information check out www.offshoresunsations.com. I wrote a testimonial, click on "Testimonials" for our trip report and pictures. We're the family from Des Moines.

Hi nreillyny - I want to do the same thing on our May 1st cruise! My DD (16) wants to do the Dolphin Encounter, so depending on whether she can do that on her own is whether I will venture out by taxis and the ferry. I wanted to check out Mead's Bay (because there is a hotel there that I have been interesting in staying at) and East Shoal. If I venture out I'll let you know how it went.

We went to Anguilla a few years ago and it was wonderful. I contacted the Board of Tourism for Anguilla telling them when we were arriving and how we were arriving. There was a driver waiting for us at the ferry on the St. Martin side who accompanied us on the ferry then he took us in his taxi-van to our beach of chose which was Shoal Bay East. We arranged a pick up time with him. He arrived a little early and helped us pack up, drove us back to the ferry and rode it back over with us. He then arrange for a taxi-van to take us to back to the ship.
We visited the island about a month after 9-11. They made us feel very safe every step of the way. Great folks on Anguilla, going back in October.

Thanks for the info. Ginger - how did you get from the Disney cruise ship to the Anguilla ferry? Please let me know.

Thanks - Nancy

On our last cruise we tried to spend the day at Anguilla, but ran into a big snag. On the official site for Anguilla it stated that an official birth certificate and picture I. D. were sufficient to get on the island but when we arrived in St. Marteen we were told by the taxi station directors that you must have a valid passport to enter Anguilla. We were dissapointed but still had a wonderful time on Dawn Beach. FYI....Good luck!

You took a cab to the ferry. It's about a 20 minute ride.

You can find rate info. on the island on mycaribbean.com Another site is www.gov.ai/

I'm sorry vixenslc that the taxi station directors told you the wrong info., a birth cert. and photo I.D. is still accepted. I'm glad you enjoyed Dawn Beach.
