You should only feel guilty if Lars starts venting about rude people. It was LK manning the store yesterday....wasn't it?

E, Allen works for at a plant in Oklahoma City. He's an IT person and has worked there since before we got married, 20 or 21 years. They used to be AT&T and then Lucent. Now they are owned by a company out of Canada who has decided that they will close the plant.

Allen has his job through March or April. There is talk of extending that through the summer. So far we can't nail them down to a definite date. We'd like to stick it out to the end to get severance pay and the bonus, so he's not looking for another position yet. We'll also qualify for some NAFTA things since his job is leaving the country. There used to be over 4000 employees, now I think there are around 150.

That's why we decided to take a spring break vacation. If we wait and Allen has a new job, we may not have enough vacation time. Also, we may be lookind at a move if we can't find a local job. Let's face it, Oklahoma isn't the best place to be looking for a job with decent pay. Yuck! This had been hanging over our heads for too long! I admit, we are spoiled. He gets a pretty good salary, good benefits, low cost of living, and family is nearby so we can use vacation time going to Florida.

Wonder who LK is talking about? Hope she doesn't think I've been rude. Having said that, I agree that rude people are a pain.

Merry, some of what you said is ringing a bell... so either you talked about it before (and I blanked) or someone else I know is going through something very similar My SIL used to work for Lucent... we'll just leave it at she's now at a totally different company. I wish you guys all the best Totally makes sense about taking a vacation then! I said to Luis if I was let go, I'd take a little time off and do some fun stuff before buckling down again

There is a PTF meeting at DDs school tonight and it promises to be a looooong one.

They are starting out with covered dish supper at 6:00 and a speaker at 7:00

The speaker will be discussing children's nutrition and just happens to be a representative of JUICE PLUS a nutritional drink.
I told Mrs. AA I have no intentions of being held hostage for some commercial. Although I believe she is there to enlist our children as part of a long term study with supplies paid.

The business section will take place afterwards.

Since it is very difficult to work dinner with all of us at an event like that, I have decided to stay home with the girls. How does Mrs. AA get her revenge?

Instead of going to supper there, she is going out with two other moms. They will eat out and then go to the meeting at 7:00!

I organized a hockey game outing for Logan's Cub Scout pack and Leah's Brownie troop - there were 150 of us who went to a game during the holidays. My contact at the Penguins e-mailed me the other day and said he needed my address to send me my group leader incentive. When I got home from work today there was a HUGE box that had an autographed hockey stick PLUS 4 complimentary premium seats for a game in March! Woo hoo!

MP, Alan, no you were not the rude one! This guy at work has had a few "issues" the past few weeks, and he is a total jerk when you talk to him. I hope everything works out fine for Allen during the year. That's a tough situation to be in.

It's snowing pretty hard here right now. The commute home wasn't bad, but it was hard to tell the wet roads from the icy ones. I have to take Leah to basketball practice in a little while. I am waiting until the last minute in hopes that they might cancel it.

Alan, I like Mrs. AA's revenge! Of course they will put the speaker first before the business part of the meeting so you are stuck there.

everyone....my day didn't improve...though i DID get the flooring for the kitchen and I LOVE THE COLOR we picked....
course DH came home after it was all unloaded!!!!

Took Meg to dance, cept she decided to just stand there with her hands in her mouth....grrr....am I turning into a "dance mom???"

Alan - maybe Mrs. AA will start to get the sniffles and start coughing so she can leave the meeting early?!

It didn't snow out here too much, just a light covering on the ground. I think we are supposed to get 2-4 inches tomorrow night. I am so glad I got my van washed the other day.

We are not stressing about the job loss. At least not YET. I may need the hugs if he can't find another job and we've just taken an expensive vacation. But you only live once. I intend to enjoy myself.

OU's loss was lopsided. Seems like all our sports are lately.

Just found out there is a botball meeting for kids and parents tomorrow night. Just wait til they hear my cough. Bet they'll wish they'd left me out of it. LOL!

Snow sounds so pretty. I wish we had it more often. We really only get a real snow once or twice a year. I'm sure you'd all be glad to send me some, though! I know you get sick of it when you see it for weeks at a time.

A lot to catch up on.

DH and I went to Wilmington for a meeting with our financial advisor tonight. On the way home we went to church. There is a St. Krispy Kreme up there, the real kind that makes the donuts there. I had never been to one. The hot sign was lit and they gave us free samples so we felt obligated to buy a dozen. (I won't tell how many I ate.) And, we got the cool paper hats and saw the donuts being made. Doesn't take much to entertain us. It was cool!!

There was a terrible accident on 95 south of Baltimore today where a tanker truck went off an overpass and landed on cars below and burst into flames. Tragic.

I am going to go watch Judging Amy. Catch you in the morning.

I posted a nice long catchup earlier..........and lost it with the connection to the server!

Matt seems better....he lasted the day in school and had a good evening.

We're pretty much packed..both Lew & me for FL and the kids for the deep freeze here (they're staying with grandma)

David's last final is tomorrow and he thinks he's done very well. Tomorrow's final is open-note, so he's not as worried about it. I'll be glad that the study sessions are ending. Whew! Thanks for the positive thoughts.

I love the Krispy Kreme's with the donut machines. We have one too. I pass it on the way to take Amy to school and that hot and fresh light is always glowing. It takes a lot of willpower to pass it by. The hot ones are always the best - donuts I mean. Well actually that could mean lots of things.

I'm jealous that you are getting a new floor! I need one in the worst way. DH wants to wait until we see if we are having to move before he puts all the time and money into the floor we want. If we are moving we'll probably just get new carpeting. My carpet is nasty! It used to be off-white or very light tan. After two kids and three dogs and a cat, it's just yucky.

Mom's little yip-yap dog is coming to spend the night. Mom has ladies coming for the morning tomorrow and mom doesn't want to listen to Sassy bark. So I get to listen to her instead. She'll be over to get her around lunchtime, so it's not a big deal. Just funny.

I'm in a contemplative mood. My mind is buzzing with ideas and thinking deep thoughts. Hope I can get it to settle down so I can go to bed in a while.
