Alan, you remind me of something I said to DH years ago. He'd been grilling hamburgers all evening. When he came in and snuggled up to me, I put my nose in his neck and told him he smelled like a western. He still laughs about that description, but I'm sticking to it.
We've been to Whispering Canyon twice. The first time Amy asked for ketchup and they did the "attention everyone" thing. She turned every shade of red! Allen and I knew better, but we hadn't told the kids, because we didn't want to ruin the fun.
The last time, David spent the whole meal trying to get sis in trouble again. He told our waitress that his sister REALLY wanted ketchup but was too shy to ask for it. Then he said she was wishing she had more beans. Each time Amy denied the accusations. Finally, David had to go to the bathroom. When he returned, the waitress asked if he remembered to wash his hands and he claimed that he did. But she wouldn't believe him unless he could tell her the color of the soap. He didn't have a clue. She said, "You have tried to get your sister in trouble all through the meal, so this is payback time! So she got the crowd's attention and asked if there were any girls around his age. A mother at another table pointed at her daughter. David had to ride a stick horse (a woodie LK!) around the whole restaurant holding hands with his new "girlfriend". I've never seen a human look so red in the face. He was so embarrassed. It was great! And Amy laughed her head off.
The service at the cathedral was nice. I love the camp music. Then we hurried back to Norman for VBS. It was a busy evening.
Tomorrow I have to get up early and go with David to the high school. It's band uniform check-out day and I have to be there with the checkbook to pay all the fees and order marching shoes. We just got word that the band director has moved back to one of the middle schools. I understand his reasoning. His wife had a baby during the last school year and he wants to spend more time with his family. But David had him as band director in middle school and then again when he moved up to the high school. We'll miss him.

And to top it off, David says the guy who is taking his place is supposed to be terrible to work with. He's already kicked up a fuss about enrollment. He doesn't want the kids to miss a little of band camp to enroll. How else are they supposed to get their yearbook picture made, get a car tag, get their ID, etc? Last I heard he was going to throw a stink for them to have a special enrollment day for band members. I don't think so. This could be interesting. I'm wondering if he's related to Gail's coach Dick?
