Angelrose's Journey

Sounds like you have been busy. Glad your hip is better. Will the doctor give you a shot in your knee like you got in your hip? I know they do a special silicone like gel shot for knees that is supposed to mimic the cartilage and sometimes even regenerate some of it. Maybe you can get something like that.

My Mother in Law had gotten one called Synvisc a few years ago and it really worked well for her, held that knee replacement at bay for about 8 more years, she had to have it done last year thought and is doing well, She had different gel shots in the other knee a few times now and while it doesn't last as long as the original one did she can get these more often and they really help her.

Can't wait to see the Christmas pics.

Thanks rndmr. I will definitely ask him about those gel shots at my next appointment. I go back on the 15th. Right now I don't know if I have to see a knee specialist of he can do it.

Thx for the kids words Minnie and Angelrose. :grouphug:

AR, you have me beat by miles with all your decorating girl :thumbsup2!! Sure makes for special memories when the family can decorate tree together. We have 5 family Dec BD's we like to celebrate before decorations go up. ;)

Glad the shot helped your hip and you got some relief (hugs). Thankfully, thus far, the cortisone shots still work like a miracle for my torn meniscus. DH does the Orthovisc shots, but gets short term relief, as sadly he is bone on bone, so really in need of knee replacements. He's heard good n bad stories, will take some encouragement to convince him it's time.

Hope everyone has a great week-end! We're headed to Virginia Beach a few days for my BD with some good friends...one happens to be celebrating her BD also. Looking forward to some good laughs and a fun adventure....a little sunshine wouldn't hurt as it's been dreary rain here a few days now. :goodvibes

Thanks 4nana. The hip isn't perfect, but it is a lot better. As you can tell I LOVE to decorate. I just added two strands of 60 LED lights to some decorations. One strand I put around the red basket of flowers and the other I put around a little lantern I have that has a candle instead. It's one of those flameless candles that comes on automatically for 5 hours and then shuts itself off.

I had my IHOP pancakes this morning and then did some grocery shopping at Walmart and Target and then came home. Chuck came over around 12:30 to change a light bulb for me and then drove me to the cemetery to put up the Christmas wreath. It had just started to drizzle when we got back in the car and by the time I got home, it was showering pretty good.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hair done, so OF COURSE it's going to be raining pitchforks and pomegranites. Yeah, I know that's a weird saying, but I got it from my dad. I guess that explains a lot about me. :rotfl:

Haha -we dare not say one cross word about rain here in the Bay Area. We were in a drought, but we've been making up for lost time lately. Lots of rain! It's supposed to rain next Thursday & Friday while we're in Disneyland. It'll be interesting, with a baby along.

I went over to my friends house to see her twin grandsons. She watches them on Fridays. They're about 2 weeks younger than Ben. It's cool to see babies the same age. And twins! What a handful! We're watching Ben right now since his parents are at a concert. They finally transitioned him to his crib. I'm not a fan of having a baby in bed every night. Thank heavens he has taken to his crib pretty well.

Twins! WOW that must be a real handful. Hope it doesn't rain on your trip to Disneyland minniecarousel. It's STILL raining here. Lots and lots of rain. But I got my hair done and it was only drizzling a little when I got out. My girlfriend really loved all the stuff I made her. She grabbed a piece of the pumpkin bread right away for breakfast. She took a few of the cinnamon nuts too. Another lady came to get her hair done and I offered her some of the nuts and she loved them too. That makes me feel really good.

I stopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond because I had a 20% off coupon and I wanted to get a red chopping board. They had one left and I grabbed it. I also had a 20% off coupon for Kohls. Now I knew I shouldn't go in there, but I was feeling evil. I got two sweaters and a snowman sweatshirt for $15 each. Now that is a great price anyway, but with the 20% off it made it more bearable.

I came home, got in my flannel PJ's and hibernated the rest of the day.

Tomorrow I'll make a quick grocery run and then made another batch of pumpkin bread. In the afternoon, I'm going to write out all my Christmas cards. I'll have a nice, quiet day.

Christmas is next week???? :faint:

Of course the only time I saw snow this year was on Thanksgiving day while driving upstate to my sister's house. Now the next storm is predicted for Christmas - I think I will stay home if the weather is bad. We're not getting any younger and it's so hard to see when it's snowing and dark.

Ok, enough complaining! Hope everyone is enjoying the season.

I had a great night out with my best friend last week. I hadn't seen her in a year. We went to a steakhouse in Manhattan and then to see the Radio City Christmas show. After that we walked to see the tree in Rockefeller Plaza. It was my birthday/Christmas night out with her, it was great!

I'm afraid so snappyd. It has gone by so fast. But I have finished all the baking, wrapping and decorating and card sending. I'm just going to relax the rest of the time.

The Radio City Christmas show is spectacular, isn't it. We saw it many years ago. The tree is magnificent. I see pictures of it on tv.

I'm happy to say that everyone loved my turtles and cinnamon nuts at Karen's family dinner. I'm just so happy to get them out of the house. They just callllllllll to me.

We had a good time and lots of laughs. They exchanged gifts and it was fun to see Jesse, Zoey and their cousin Veronica opening their presents. There was one present left and Karen told me it was for me.

She had made me purse in the exact design of my Vera Bradley purse. It was done with a red material with white snowflakes on it and the inside was done with a white material with peppermints on it. It has two pockets inside and two side pockets on the outside. Exactly like my Vera Bradley purse.

I knew she was making it, but I told her not to worry about getting it done before Christmas, since she had three quilts to make and a purse for her grandmother too. But she knew I wanted to wear it now, so she got it done and gave to me. I absolutely love it. It's so soft and pretty. I'm so lucky to have Karen part of my family.

Jesse bought me a gift from the school Christmas store. He couldn't wait and told me I had to open it. It was three stud earring, red, white and blue. Really very pretty. But Chuck told him he had to wait until Christmas to give it to me. So I told him I would forget about it before Christmas. LOL

The shot in my hip isn't helping that much anymore. I can get another one but I will wait until January to get it done. I have spinal problems too. My toes on both feet are always tingling. The did an xray and found that two of my discs are really compressed. I've lost a half inch since June! I'm now 4'61/2 inches. I have to see another doctor in January to see if they can give me a shot to give me a little space between the discs. Another test to see what the problem is with my nerves.

It just never stops. Monday I have to get an MRI at 7am! That will be fun. Maybe I can nap while I'm in the machine.

The funny thing is the new doctor I will see is the husband of my primary care doctor.

Angelrose, want to wish you and all our Dis friends a blessed Christmas! I hope you are feeling better, know you've been very busy decorating n preparing, now it's time to sit back, relax, and enjoy family time. :goodvibes

Last year when I lost my dear Mom, holidays were canceled :sad1:. The first of all holidays without your loved one are so difficult - AR, my friend, you know this pain all too well . This C'mas I am mustering up all the spirit I can get and going to give it my best shot to have a blessed holiday w/my loving family who has helped me so much. I've decorated Mom's resting place and also have a small tree in our foyer in her honor decorated in all pink for B/C. I know she is smiling from above.

It's been a busy month with all the holiday and grands activities, but so nice to be getting back in the swing of things, as my Mom would want me to do . Sweet grands have been hoping I would feel up to doing my annual C'mas eve party... so be it! I have been working, decorating, baking, cooking, cleaning all week and am ready for tonight! Can't wait to see the kids, sweet grands, lots of good food to share, sing some c'mas carols, gift exchange, games, and fun times making special memories :lovestruc. Tomorrow they want us to join them at their homes for their traditions. :goodvibes

Counting my blessings and grateful for your friendship :flower3:. Hugs n prayers everyone has a great holiday. Time for some sleep now...

Merry Christmas Ladies!

4nana, it's good you're getting back into your usual Christmas tradition. Enjoy your time with your family.

So glad you decorate early Angelrose. You relax on these days leading up to Christmas!

I had to cut out my baking this year. With watching my grandson & doing all the decorating after we got back from Disneyland, there was no time! I have my traditional tree, my Disney-only tree and my little I Love Lucy tree all decorated... finally!

DH & I will do some cleaning in the AM. I'll make French onion soup & a small prime rib roast for Christmas Eve. It'll just be the 5 of us, but Ben doesn't eat yet! Then on Christmas, we're expecting my family, and then some! We'll eat all day, and the weather is supposed to be spectacular! So we can be outside too.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

I want to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my dear friends.

4nana, I know it's hard to get back the joy of the holidays, but I learned if you put on a good face, eventually you will actually feel the joy. My first Christmas without Ron was very hard, but I made sure I decorated EVERYTHING. I knew he would want that.

minniecarousel, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too.

snappyd, I wish you the same Merry Christmas.

I will be going over to the kids tomorrow around 9. I can't wait to give Jesse and Zoey their presents. I'm sure they will be super excited all day.

I have been doing a whole lot of nothing these last few days except watch Christmas movies. I have a LOT of them. I will have some Christmas pictures to post right after the holidays. Today, it was raining all day. I put on all the Christmas lights and enjoyed them all day.

I want to wish all my dear friends here a very Happy and Healthy New Year. Hope 2015 is a wonderful year.

I have a few pictures I'd like to post.

Angelrose, so glad you had a wonderful C'mas and thank you for sharing your lovely professional and also sweet family photos. You all look beautiful and handsome :lovestruc! I love the ones of you w/Jesse n Zoey on bench. My, I hardly recognized Karen - like you, she has done wonderful on her wgt loss journey :goodvibes! Looks like Santa was really good to everyone :)! LOVE the handmade purse Karen made you and my what a wonderful job on Chuck, Jesse's and Zoey's quilts. Beautiful! She is one talented and busy lady! :flower3:

Thanks and appreciate the kind words Angelrose and minniecarousel . Minnie, know you enjoyed having your lil DGS, Ben, this C'mas to love and spoil xo. My C'mas eve party kept me so busy I didn't have alot of time to dwell on much sadness, it went great and haven't slowed down since. Santa was so good to us and the family has kept us very busy past week. Spent a nice C'mas day w/dinner/desserts with the kids at both their homes. Our family called our son in Colorado for his C'mas eve BD n we all enjoyed catching up, then we skyped DGS in Australia and so good to hear and see him! Thankfully he's on his way home now. :goodvibes

Friday was a family trip to see 'Into the Woods' and Chinese outing afterwards. Half of us enjoyed the movie, other half, incl myself, was not impressed with this Disney movie and found this musical slightly on dark side and mixture of fairy tales confusing for lil ones.

Our DD3 and family surprised us and arrived for a long week-end! So it's been more fun get-togethers, C'mas movies, cookie baking, and grands sleepovers. I've been in heaven w/full house of company!! :cloud9:

Godspeed and Happy New Year dear friends, may it be a healthy n happy one full of many blessings ((hugs)). We're meeting a group of friends tomorrow to see 'Unbroken' and then going to an Italian Restaurant for dinner. Should be a fun way for 'OP's' to kick off the New Year! :wizard:

Love the Christmas pix Angelrose! Amazing work that Karen put into those quilts. Looks like everyone was happy with their presents!

Wishing you all a wonderful 2015!!

Thank you 4nana. We all had a wonderful Christmas. So glad you had a great Christmas too.

Thank you minniecarousel.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hello my friends. I am having withdrawal since I haven't seen my grandkids since Christmas. New Years we all just stay home and hibernate and last week, Karen stayed home when it was snowing on Tuesday and was able to come home early the rest of the week.

Next week it will be back to normal again.

I'm starting to put away my Christmas decorations. It's kind of depressing. Now I have to think what I can put away first so I can put away something else. LOL The tree is still up and will probably be up for another week while I put everything else away.

I had an MRI done on my lower spine because I have tingling in my toes. Well, a few days after Christmas the doctor called with the results. It would have been a shorter conversation if he had told me what was right with my spine.

I have stenosis here and there. I have compressed discs, here and here and there. I have some nerve damage there and there. I guess that is why I have lost a half inch since June. I used to be 4'11". Now, I am 4'61/2". Pretty soon I will be able to hand in my resume to be one of Santa's elves.

I have an appointment to see the spine doctor on the 21st to see if there is anything that can be done. That was depressing news. I have worked so hard to lose the weight so I didn't need my cane, now it looks like that is in my not to distant future. Well, at least I am not in any real pain. I will have to get another shot in my hip to help with that pain.

I don't see why they can't grow me a new skeleton. Well, they did it on Star Trek. LOL I want my new skeleton to be taller and my new body thinner. I have my order in.

Hope you all had a great New Year.

Happy New Year ladies! :)

Love hearing about all your family get togethers.

Angel, the pictures are beautiful. It's so wonderful to see such a loving family. Those quilts are wonderful, Karen is very talented. I can't believe the kids are getting so big, where does the time go?

4nana and Minnie, you also have such great families!

My DH and I don't have any parents or children. On Christmas day we go to my sister's house upstate and then on the Saturday after Christmas we go to DH's brother in Connecticut. It's nice to see everyone, but we are happy when we get back to NJ, light a fire, have some wine and enjoy the quiet, lol!

I owe you some pictures, I'll try putting them in photobucket and posting later.

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and peaceful year :wave2:

Thanks snappyd. Karen really is so talented and artistic. So was her mom and her grandmom. They do amazing things. Her mom won awards for her quilts.

It is always nice to come home to peace and quiet. I know I appreciate it when I come home from an all day with the kids. I love to be with them, but I sure do love to come to quiet.
