Angelrose's Journey

Oh I collected Beanie Babies too. I had 4 Rubber Made tubs filled with them. I finally gave most of them away to Big Brothers and Sisters. I only kept the holiday ones and a few special ones that I liked. I also kept some of the buddies too.

That's a strange story on how I got interested in them. I saw one in a store, Bones the dog. I loved him and got him home and promptly cut off all the tags. I learned later that that was a no no. I could have picked up all the original ones but I was determined not to start collecting them.

Ron wanted to get me started on the computer. I resisted because I couldn't see what I would DO on it. LOL Well, he found the Ty site for me. He had the computer all day and I had it for two hours at night. Well, I loved the community board they had there and from there followed some links until I found a Beanie club. I joined. It was months before I got up the nerve to post. When I did, I found some friends. That club closed down, but some of the new friends I made started a new Yahoo club. Oh what fun we had. Sadly that club broke up because of some really bad trolls.

But my friends started our own club and we are still friends to this day. We even met for 4 days of laughter at Niagara Falls, where one friend lived. I treasure those four days.

I don't think any of us collect any more but we still keep in touch in our club.

So I have Ron to thank for getting me interested in the computer and meeting my friends. He also found the DIS for me. He was such a thoughtful man.

I used to post on the Beanie Baby community board - I even won the Halloween contest one year!

On another topic, last week I rescued a hummingbird! I have 6 feeders on my front porch and we have had a lot of them this year. Well I heard one chirping, but the sound kept coming from the same place. I found him hanging by the tip of his wing in one of the bushes. He couldn't get lose :faint: I ran over and cupped him in my hands and had to pull his wing straight down out of the bush. He fluttered in my hands for about five second and then flew up into a tree, I was so happy :cool1:

Oh that hummingbird was so lucky that you were there to save him. It does make your day when you help an animal or bird. I helped a bird that was caught in my front columns. I heard this tweeting and it was coming from inside the column. I lifted up the bottom and he flew right out. After that Ron put barriers so they couldn't fall down. Now we have birds build nests on the tops every year. I love to see the momma bird feeding the babies. Then see them stretching their wings and then getting the courage to fly.

Ron found a baby possum one day. It was so cute. Little pink nose and he wasn't afraid at all. I held him until we found someone who could take care of him until he was old enough to set free. I really didn't want to let him go. He just cuddled in my arms so sweetly. Gosh that was years ago and I still remember how he felt, so soft and snuggley in my arms.

I'm getting into the routine of getting Jesse off the bus again. I don't actually have to get him off the bus since he is in first grade now, but I just love to see how excited he is to see me.

I'm helping him with his homework and his cub scout stuff. They cover some really great stuff. Understanding a promise and giving your work. What to do if someone touches him where they shouldn't. It's a shame we have to go into that, but in this day and age you have to protect your kids.

I went out and had my pancakes this morning and got a few things at Walmart. I had forgotten my list, so, of course, I forgot a few things. I did remember to go to Target and get my flu shot.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hair done so I will stop and pick up the few things I forgot today. I did pick up some pumpkin oatmeal. Now that sounds really yummy.

It's only 497 more days until Disney. YAYYYYYYYYY I am so pathetic. LOL

Today was my first solo day with Ben. We did fine. He Is 5 months old tomorrow. I'll have him here again on Thursday. The week after next I'll have him another day per week. I think we're building up to 4 days a week. he doesn't seem to want to nap in his crib. He likes to be held. Not that I mind a little nap, but 2 two hour naps don't fit into my schedule. We'll see if we can work on this nap thing.

Dh was off last week. We were in Carmel for our Anniversary (#39!) for a few days. The weather was so nice. We were there for 3 nights and saw 2 sunsets. The first night was fogged in. I just love the Monterey area.

Glad to hear that you have settled in with your after-school routine with Jesse. What a special time for the two of you!

How wonderful for you to spend the whole day with Ben. I remember those times. You could try holding him until he falls asleep and then put him back in the crib. When he cries, just rub his tummy and see if he will go back to sleep. That's what I used to do and it did work after a few times.

I have to ask for prayers again for Zoey. She has been very sick. I won't go into details, but this latest episode has us very worried. There are three things it could be. The last one is extremely serious. Just hope for the second thing. Sorry I just don't want to give any details. But any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Hugs to you Angelrose and biggest prayers for Zoe ..whatever's wrong may it be nothing serious and your worries be over soon.

I lurk..I read...and make sure you're doing ok ...I've not many exciting things to talk about so I don't lol.:confused3

Early fall days are here on Ontario (Canada) ...though today was just HOT. Very pretty time of year, what comes next, not so much!!

Take care of you..:thumbsup2

Thank you minnie56. I will let you all know how she makes out tomorrow.

We are having some delicious weather right now. Nice and cool. Although we have some heavy rain coming in tomorrow night and Thursday.

Thank you minniecarousel. Still no word on her tests, but she is back to her normal happy self. She is running around playing and singing, "I am a princess".

I'm hoping that is a good sign that what she had was nothing very serious and just an infection of some sort.

Happy Anniversary MinnieCarousel! I will make 33 years next week, where does the time go???

Minnie56, I too have not had much to say lately, but do check in.

Angel, prayers that Zoe makes a speedy and full recovery from whatever ails her.

We are going out for a dinner tomorrow night, my SIL's Mom is turning 80.

My old idol, Cat Stevens (now know as Yusuf) is back on tour. I tried to get tickets in the pre-sale yesterday, but they sold out immediately. I'm going to try again tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!!! :yay:

minniecarousel, please forgive me for not wishing you a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. I have been so worried about Zoey that I can't think of anything else. I still don't know of any results yet. That's what's driving me crazy.

Thank you snappyd for the prayers.

Enjoy your dinner out.

Everyone thank you for your concern and prayers for Zoey.

Have a great weekend.

Good news about Zoey. All her tests came back normal. She was just very dehydrated. Although Karen thinks she may be hypoglycemic. They will just watch her carefully.

I had a fun day yesterday. I had my pancakes and then stopped at Pier one. I had seen their commercials and wanted to find a nice fall dinner plate. Now I always have my lights on whenever I drive. Imagine my surprise when I parked in front of their window and so NO headlights. I turned them off and on and nothing. I did find a very pretty pumpkin dinner plate and a large cereal type bowl. I stopped to get my car washed and came home.

I went over to Chuck's at 5:30 and had him look and, yep, no headlights. I had to drive home with my high beams on. The municipal complex was showing Frozen with Elsa and Olaf making an appearance. I'm glad I had on jeans and a sweatshirt because by the end of the night I was freezing. Next time I will bring a blanket. They had the most amazing fireworks afterward.

I didn't get home until 11. I had a hot chocolate to warm up.

Today Chuck came over to help me get rid of my old recliner. He checked out what headlights I needed and how to do it. Then we went to the dump and he went home and I vegged.

He called me back around 5 and said to come over for dinner and a movie and he'll replace my headlights. So I did. We had a nice dinner and we watched Rush Hour. Very funny and I love Jackie Chan. We were going to watch Rush Hour two but they couldn't find it. It's somewhere!

I got home around 8:30. Tomorrow I'm going to babysit from 8:30. Then when Karen gets home we are having lunch and going bowling with the swim team. It's been a very busy weekend! Just the way I like it.

Glad to hear that Zoey is fine. Always a scare when kids get "mystery" illnesses. My younger son would occasionally get a fever - we never figured out what caused them. The fever would just break, then he'd be fine.

I love hearing about your busy weekends with your grands! Hope you're having a fun day.

Thanks minniecarousel. We are so relieved.

I had another busy day today. I was babysitting from 8:30 until Karen came home from running her first half marathon. She did it 2 hours and 30 minutes. I am very proud of her. She was beyond tired after that but we had a bowling thing to go to this afternoon.

There were 6 people bowling in my lane. Then there were 4, so I took the extra turns. Then there were two. Then there was just me taking everyones' turns.

We started at 2:30 and stopped at 5:30! My right hip and knee refused to speak to me right now, but it was so much fun. Finally Karen asked if I was done. I didn't realize how tired I was until I took off my shoes. I walked over to her table and she handed me some punch. I can't tell when I'm thirsty, so when she handed me that punch, I drank half the cup. My hands were shaking so bad. After I finished the cup I felt so much better and my hands stopped shaking.

Ron used to have to tell me every hour when we were at DW that I was thirsty and hand me a bottle of water. What can I say?? I'm very weird.

Now I'm going to get something to eat and veg in my recliner.

Hi AR :wave2:! I think it’s wonderful how young at heart you are and keep yourself so active. Want to let you know I enjoyed cute lil Zoey's 4th BD pix! Loved that pix of you and Zoey in kiddies pool....you are such a cool Grandmom ;)! So wonderful you live close and are able to stay involved. So very sorry to hear she's been sick again, praise God she is feeling better. Know how worrisome it is when our babies are sick and we feel helpless. :worried:

minniecarousel, how wonderful you get to help with the care of your sweet lil GS, Ben xo :cloud9:. I use to so love and enjoy taking care of our sweet grands while their parents worked. Congratulations on your/DH's #39 Annv and fun trip! Also, Happy 10th Ann. to Chuck n Karen and Happy 33rd Annv. snapppyd/DH! Lots of celebrations going on :lovestruc! We were blessed to celebrate our 50th Annv. in May and are anxiously awaiting our Oct. Princess foliage cruise our kids gifted us. :goodvibes

Hope your headlights are an easy fix AR. My Buick is having issues also. Thankfully DH n SIL1 are quite mechanical and today replaced my wheel bearings and breaks...saving us some serious $$$. :worship:

Temps have really cooled down in Md preparing for fall, my fave time of year. Can't wait for Pumpkin Farm trip w/sweet grands! Last week-end we enjoyed a family trip to local Fair, where our DD1 and 3 grands won several awards for their art work. DD1 entered some of her photography, she won 6 awards incl one earning Best of Show! She has such a keen eye for beauty and creativity! :goodvibes

DGD2 went to her school Homecoming Dance w/a group of friends. She had her long beautiful red hair styled and I was excited to be invited to the dress up part and photos :flower3:. Can't believe how fast they are all growing up ! Her DB is still adjusting to college and a tad bit of home sickness 8 hrs away. I think parents week-end really helped cheer him up. Technology is wonderful how we can keep in touch often and even 'see' him. Grands fall sports have started up, so we enjoy attending some of their soccer and football games. :teeth:

Till next time...everyone take good care. ((hugs))

Thank you 4nana. But I am sure paying for that being active part. I think maybe I might have overdone it yesterday. Last night I woke up every two hours yelling in pain. I finally had to take another Advil and I got a few hours sleep.

This morning there was NO possibility of me exercising. Back pain and hip and knee pain. I managed to do my grocery shopping and not much else. I took another Advil at lunch, one for dinner and I will take one more before bed. I hope I can walk a little more tomorrow.

Chuck replaced my headlights and everything is fine now. That was a big relief.

Congrats on your daughter and grands for winning so many awards at the fair. Best in show for photography is really awesome.

It's still pretty warm here in south Jersey. I'm really looking forward to some cooler weather.

Glad to see Zoey is OK!! I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long, it seems I get stuck on Facebook all day and don't realize I haven't checked in here. This afternoon we are going to our country house for a 4-day weekend, no computer.

Hope everyone enjoys Columbus Day and I'll try to check in more often. :):)

snappyd, enjoy your holiday.

Sunday I went to the grocery store early. I like to go early because it is a small parking lot and fills up later in the morning. I park in the first handicapped spot near the back door of the store. I pull all the way in.

When I come out, someone had scraped my back bumper and pushed the side out. They had to really try hard to hit my car, but they succeeded. Of course the first thing I do is panic. What do I do? Should I call my insurance company? Do I have to take it to the Honda dealer or can I have it fixed at my local garage? So I call Chuck and he calmed me down and said to come over and have him look at it. He looks at it and at the other side and starts to push it in. I had tried but it didn't move. Well, he pushed it a few times and, voila, it was back in place. I have touch up paint and he will do that when he gets back. I think I may need more than the small touch up pen they gave me. Those people never gave it a second thought that they damaged my car. I have to say that I have "blessed" them quite a few times.

I am so lucky to have Chuck and Karen to help me out.

Oh, AR, isn't it irritating that someone would hit your car like that! Glad it wasn't too bad,

I've been busy helping with Ben. Both my son & daughter-in-law have pneumonia. Ben has bronchiolitis & has a cough. They are both going to work tomorrow, so I'll have Ben here. Looks like I'll be holding him a lot tomorrow (not that I mind, I just don't want him sick).

On a good note, our daughter-in-law in NY is at the 20 week mark with her pregnancy & their 6th Anniversary was on Saturday. They're off to the Bahamas for a few days! It's a blessing that she is doing so well. I am looking forward to "having" to go to NY to meet my next grandchild!
