Angelrose's Journey

Isn't it nice to have a trip planned?! (Even if it's not Disney) I'm sure you'll all have a fun time.

Watching my grandson Ben keeps me so busy. He's 10 months old, but since they got his MMR shot early, I can take him with me on errands. We've also gone to the park that has baby swings. He sure likes that! I'll be watching him all day on Tuesday, then take the red-eye to NY. Looks like I'll be prime for sleep!

Yes it is. I always get so excited once the plans are all made. Chuck keeps asking me if I packed yet. LOL He knows I always pack a month in advance for our Disney trips.

The grandkids do keep you busy. Jesse has loved the Ninja Turtles for ages. So I got him a Ninja Turtle Easter basket. When I got home I realized I didn't know which one was his favorite. So I asked him. He said, "Grandmom, Ninja Turtles are for kids." You're SEVEN for goodness sakes. LOL So I returned it and got him a camo bucket instead. He is growing so fast. I'm only a head taler than him now. Of course that isn't saying much.

My cousin Joan and I went out today for pancakes and shopping. We always have fun and laugh all day. We decided to go to the movies to see Kingsman after Chuck and Karen said they liked it, but it did have a bit of gore.

It's a spy thriller. OMG After 5 minutes the good guy gets split in half. It went downhill from there. I spent most of the movie with my eyes covered. Joan did the same. It could have been a really good movie without all the gore. As it was, Joan said it was a "B" movie. I said it was an "F" movie for obvious reasons. It was awful. But if you like LOTS and LOTS of gore, this is the movie for you.

Other than that we both had a lot of laughs and had a great time together as usual.

I'm so glad you have your cousin Joan! The movie you should have seen was the new Marigold Hotel movie. My sister saw it and really liked it. She's seen several movies lately. She liked McFarland too.

My house cleaners came today. So if we don't make too much of a mess through Tuesday, we'll come home next week to a clean house. DH has to go to LA for business on Sunday evening, returning on Monday evening. I hope he can sleep on the red-eye Tues night!

Yes I want to see that movie too. Joan and I grew up together. Our houses were next door to each other. I had prayed for a little sister and Joan was born when I was ten years old. I have watched out for her through some troubled times and she was there for me when Ron passed. We are more like sisters than cousins.

This has been the weekend from Hades. It started off nicely. Chuck called to invite me to dinner and then to babysit while they did their grocery shopping. Wonderful. Then I got a call from Karen saying that a little plastic thing inside the pipe that goes to the toilet and broken and water was gushing out for two hours while they were away. Oh my sweet Lord what a mess. Chuck called to ask if I would bring over my wet vac and I hauled it up from the basement and drove right over. They used every towel in the house and the wet vac really helped. He shut off the water until they got an electrician over to make sure everything was OK before they put the water back on everywhere except that bathroom. They had to take everything out of the pantry and I wiped everything off. Chuck said there was some wet spots on the floor in there, so I got the paper towels and got down on my hands and knees and wiped that up. It wasn't much left. Karen called their insurance company and they were fully covered and they called ServPro to come and start assessing the damage. He came around 8 and told them a crew would be out this morning to start the drying process and tell them what drywall had to come down and the linoleum in the pantry had to come up.

They have huge fans going and three humidifiers going on all three floors. It's going to be a mess for a couple of months. Today Karen brought me a ton of wet towels and clothes to wash because they can't use their washed or dryer. I have done at least 6 or 7 loads of wash today and have at least 4 or 5 more to go.

On my way over last night, I got the message on my dash that I needed an oil change. So I had to make that appointment for tomorrow morning bright and early. When I get back I can start doing more laundry again. I want to have that all done so I can bring it over tomorrow afternoon.

Oh yuck! What a mess! And all from a plastic piece to a toilet! You're a good mom to go over to help. What a lot of laundry!

Well, the damage wasn't as bad as they thought. Thank goodness. They may be done everything in a week or two at the most.

I did the 10 loads of wash, dried them and folded them and then hauled them into my car yesterday to take over. I managed to get one into their house before Karen yelled at me. LOL It WAS heavy. She wouldn't let me go get the other basket and Chuck got it for me. While I was babysitting he went over to my house and got the other basket.

Today Karen asked me to come over for the dinner we were supposed to have on Saturday. Roast rosemary chicken and roasted veggies. She asked me to stop at the grocery store and pick up some ground beef and rolls for tomorrow's dinner. I picked up a few things for myself as well. They had a woman giving samples of Irish soda bread with Kerry Gold sweet butter on it. I knew it was a mistake but I bought both.

Our dinner was so good and then we tried the soda bread with the butter. HEAVENLY! Then Chuck said it would be better warmed up in the toaster oven until the butter melted. Oh YEAH! Well, between Karen, Chuck and myself, we ate the whole loaf and most of the butter. No calories there at all! I think I gained 10 pounds tonight! I was a very bad girl and I"m sure the scale will be very angry with me.

Saturday I'm getting my hair cut and died which will make me feel better. Then Chuck will drop the kids off in the afternoon so he gets a break and can do his shopping.

More laundry to do tomorrow. LOL My poor washing machine must wonder what is going on. I usually do one load of wash a month, maybe two. Now I did 10 in one day and one every day until they can get back to normal.

Oh my, what a mess! About a week after we put down hardwood floors my washing machine pump broke..thank goodness we were home, but we were sitting outside and the water was pouring out for about a half hour. It went right thru the floors and flooded the basement. We were able to dry the wood floors before they were damaged.

We had a delicious corned beef meal last night. I know what you mean about the soda bread, I make my own and it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. Glad the kiddies are doing well.

Minnie, hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!!

That meal sounds really good snappyd. After eating all that soda bread yesterday, I was eating salads all day. How is it that I can gain two pounds in a week, yet it takes months to get it off? One of the little mysteries of life.

When you solve that mystery please let me know! I have gotten so out of shape this winter, too much time in front of the computer. I have started walking a little and can't believe how much it hurts my knees and ankles. I need to get in shape if I want to go to Disney!

Hello from New York! Our red-eye was uneventful, thank heavens (a little Baileys helped!) little Jackson is so precious! Newborns are so special - I could just look at him for hours.
It's so sunny out , then I go outside, only to realize it's cold out there! Not used to it. We've got nothing planned while we're here, it'll be nice to just visit and help out with the baby.

Have a wonderful time Julie! I think looking at that baby is all you need to do!

I have been doing my 10,000 steps every morning that I can. That helps. Eating a whole loaf of Irish soda bread drenched in Kerry Gold butter, does NOT help. LOL But I'm back on track now.

Have a great time in NY Julie.

The weather has been really nice lately but chilly. I've been getting my Easter decorations out and that keeps me busy.

Strange thing happened. Thursday I had a total melt down. I was just thinking about how Ron would have taken the cars oil changed and the flood gates opened. I just couldn't stop crying. I was all, "It's not fair" and "I want him back" all over again. I went to my WW meeting and asked our leader if I could skip getting weighed in because I just couldn't handle it and started crying all over again. She was so nice and took me aside and asked what was going on. I explained how I just couldn't stop crying that day. You know she talked to me and got me calmed down. I won't go into details but I felt better. Then one of the members asked what was going on and I told her a little bit and she just jumped up and gave me hug. Then my buddy Mike was busy on his tablet trying to invite a member to our WW facebook page and couldn't do it, then said, "well, I can get other member to invite her". I said "yes". And his puts his arms around me and says, "Thanks Mary". LOL He got me to laugh. I am so lucky to have so many friends here and at WW to support me.

It's funny how some little thing will get me crying again. I know I will always miss him. This July will be our 50th anniversary. I wish he could be here to celebrate with me.

Oh Mary, I can see that that would happen...even years later. You can't help but wonder how different life would have been. I'm glad that people got you laughing. It's going to happen, but it doesn't sound like you "wallow" in it. You have such a fantastic family!

We had such a wonderful time visiting our son, daughter-in-law & sweet baby Jackson. We had snow Friday night/ Saturday morning! I hadn't seen snow falling in such a long time! It was so pretty & it melted quickly on Sat. Thankfully, I came home to Ben. Of course, he's "super-sized" compared to Jack!

Thanks Julie. It just hits me at strange times. I can be fine for months and months and then a silly thing gets me going all over again. You never really "get over" missing someone. But I have to keep up my spirits so I can have fun with my grandkids. Zoey had me laughing so much tonight. She was the teacher and her mom was "Lovey" and I was going to be Tenny. I said I wanted to be eleveny and she said OK. She told her mom to write down the words to her math problem. Poor Karen was trying not to laugh too hard and kept asking her what words was she supposed to write for her math problem. Every time Zoey would hit the back of the car seat and yell at her mom to "Just do it". I was being good and I didn't get yelled at. Take that Lovey! Lovey called me a suck up. I have no idea why.

Hello my friends. I'm still doing laundry. LOL But I did get a break this week. I don't have to babysit until next Tuesday. I will be going over there on Sunday for the egg hunt and going to Storybook Land and then dinner.

I can't believe it's Easter time already. It seems like we just got done with Christmas. But I am looking forward to going to Tennessee in May. I think we all need a vacation.

Jesse got a great report card. He went up in almost everything. We are so proud of him.

I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter.

Easter already! I agree, it's hard to believe. Our little Ben will be a whole year old in a few weeks. My son is taking the last of his paternity leave so I don't see Ben every day. I miss him!

You sure have fun with your family, eleveny!
Happy Easter!

:hug:Lifting you and your DH up in prayer.. Gods speed to a quick and successful recovery.

Thank you Julie. I know what you mean about missing the grandkids. I haven't seen Jesse and Zoey since Tuesday and I miss them terribly.

Thank you LovesTimone. Prayers are always appreciated.
