Andy and Rae's 50th Birthday Celebration - 2005

Yeah, and with all the hype, I'm starting to get scared of the $$$ of the East to West repositiong. I figured what a 10 day would be over a 4 day by extending the daily rate, but this wouldn't be so straight forward. Surely DCL will add a hefty premium due to the uniqueness of this cruise.

We'll see...

Andy (verandahman) and I were talking privately about this - I am thinking that it would be similiar in cost to the Christmas/New Years 10 nighter. That will put this cruise out of range for MANY and neither Andy or I intend to cruise it - if it's exceptionally high.

I think we all need to think of what our "bottom" line will be on costs (including airfares, expenses).

Andy and I are both in agreement that we'd rather sail together and have a real "Birthday Celebration" than apart and it be just a special cruise - so we are talking things over. The biggest concern is his daughter's school schedule - as this is for many parents. Since I homeschool Michael, I can work around any date that we choose.

And by the way, the movie "Hidalgo" was pretty good! But then again, any movie that has a horse in it is always good in my opinion.

I also saw "The Passion of the Christ" and loved it. Gave me the most wonderful feeling that God loves us and we are worthy of His love! Very good movie - I do plan to take Michael to see it (with a lot of discussion before and after).

Hugs to all, we are off to visit our horses today!

Rae

:sunny: Rae, I agree! As long as you are together it is a celebration and that will make any cruise that is decided on a special.:boat:

wltdsnyfan - it's more than just Andy and Rae and our families - it's all of you who have known us on this forum, or have met us and want to cruise with us together.

That's what will make it special for us - our Disney family with us!
Right, Andy?!

Rae

:sunny: This is true! No mater were or when DCl will know we are all there!

That's right, Rae!!! We can enjoy ourselves just as much without having to spend a lot of extra $$$$. Remember the words to the song, "We are family, I got all my "DIS'ers" with me!!!"

Happy Birthday To You, and many more.

the boys are sending you :grouphug: :love1:

Andy,

Now I have that Sister Sledge song in my mind! I am in agreement that the 50th birthday celebration can be "Magic"al or "Wonder"ful without having to spend $$$$

Robin

We are family
I got all my sisters with me
We are family
Get up ev'rybody and sing

Ev'ryone can see we're together
As we walk on by
(FLY!) and we fly just like birds of a feather
I won't tell no lie
(ALL!) all of the people around us they say
Can they be that close
Just let me state for the record
We're giving love in a family dose

Living life is fun and we've just begun
To get our share of the world's delights
(HIGH!) high hopes we have for the future
And our goal's in sight
(WE!) no we don't get depressed
Here's what we call our golden rule
Have faith in you and the things you do
You won't go wrong
This is our family Jewel

Just change the word "sisters" to "dis'ers." Whenever I hear that song on the radio, that's what I do now!!! LOL!!!

Hi,
I havent been around for a while. We had planned to take another cruise in August 05. With school, it is the only time that really fits our schedule. We are in the process of buying a house, so $$$$ will be an issue( we have DVC, but it won't cover 4 on a cruise) I would love it if we could join the celebration!!

Hey, are we getting all worked up about this 2005 cruise or what?!!!!!

I can imagine that most of the hold up is also due to excursions that need to be set up. (Pie eyed optimist here!)

Rae

I still think the hold up is that they don't want to announce before the 50th announcement. It would take the steam out of the 50th's announcement. It would also screw up any land-sea sailings. If the cruise is not going to the west, my guess is they will announce this month. My source on the Magic (a high ranking officier) said maybe we could do both (DL and DCL) after I said we would only be going to the west coast in 2005. He asked what month we would go and when we mentioned DH's birthday was in April, he said he'd wait until June. I would think he would be involved with the planning of how the ship would get there, etc. so I put a lot of faith in him. That's why we booked on board for 2005 with the intent to change the date.

I find it a little difficult to think DCL would fill a ship going through the Panama Canal 1. in August 2. with prices as high as the 10 day. Yes they'd have to cover the costs, but it is HOT in August in Panama. Why would you pay $$$$ to be stuck on a cruise in that weather.

We'll wait and see what happens. I carry my Castaway Club card with me along with my reservation number at all times in case I hear an announcement.

My guess is if we don't hear an announcement by the end of March, we won't hear it until May 5. We just got to hang in there, patiently :worried: , until we hear. That's the hard part :teeth:

Andy & Rae:

We were at a AAA travel expo yesterday and a disney cruise consultant was there, she certainly gave us the impression that moving the ship out to the west next summer was a definite. However, I agree with you both cost could be the overriding factor.

I'm going to remain optimistic about the pricing. Yes, Disney is the highest, but I was just playing around online, and there is an 18 day Panama Canal cruise from San Francisco to New York in August on the Regal Princess. The cost for oceanview is $2,399.00 which is right about what we paid for our 7 day Western in a Navigators Veranda. This 18 day cruise starts in San Francisco, stops at Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Huatulco, Panama, Cartagena, Aruba, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and ends in New York. Price includes all port charges. If Disney can keep a 10 day within that range, perhaps by limiting the amount of ports to keep the cost down, this just might be reachable!

Twhipple,

I carry my castaway card with me also:teeth:

If it is not the Panama repositioning cruise, just me. If by chance, that is what we are looking at, possibly the whole family. But add me, Robin to the list.

Thanks!

I LOVE your style, Lynda!!!!!!! Welcome aboard!!

I was just on Travelocity looking at cruise deals and there was a Disney Cruise box you could check. Of course, I checked it and when I did 3 more little boxes came up- one was for destination. I clicked on that thinking it would take me to choosing either a 7 day eastern or western etc. IT DID NOT! I could choose from either Orlando or ANAHEIM. Guess there's one more little clue that a ship will definetly be coming into California! When I clicked on Anaheim, it couldn't find the page- but I bet it will eventually! (Sorry if someone already posted this.)

Geeze! I went back to check it again and it wasn't there- maybe it was in my imagination!?!
