And your oscar winners are.

Yeah, but I don’t think they care. Honestly the detractors get way more worked up about these things than the entertainers. They all had a great night.

We all know those complaining about things being too political wouldn't utter a peep if they agreed with them. Never mind they themselves turned this thread political and do the same thing in every thread they can.
I'm certainly not going to let 2 minutes worth of politics spoil my enjoyment of a 3 hour show. And neither did 26 million people. Again I didn't watch mainly because I've attended one too many sports banquets in my lifetime (they're just as boring to me.) Besides. All the good stuff will make you tube. Ratings have been down for everything since alternative ways to watch nearly everything became popular. I don't even watch Game of thrones any more. I wait until It's a freebie and binge watch. No need to be there every week same time same channel any more.

How does Kobe Bryant win an Oscar in the middle of the #MeToo movement?

I don't get this line of thought but perhaps I'm just an oddball. In my mind, the award is honoring the work, not necessarily the person. Why is our society so incapable of recognizing the difference? We can hate the person but still recognize the achievement.

By the way, I just saw "The Shape of Water," and while I thought it was a good movie, there is just no way that it was better than Dunkirk. I'm really disappointed in that choice.

This is one of the reasons I don't watch most years. The show is just too damn long; I've got other stuff to do. The politics don't bother me, what bothers me is how much time they waste. So I read who the winners are after and watch the best parts online.

Anyone here really love the Shape of Water? Tried to watch it recently and just couldn't get into it, but didn't watch for long. Maybe I'm not giving it enough time bc I didn't like the other movie Guillermo del Toro won awards for Pans Labyrinth.

I liked it but definitely didn't think it deserved Best Picture. I don't get choosing it over Dunkirk.

I didn’t like it. I can see why it won but I couldn’t get into it either.

Didn't see the Darkest Hour yet but looking forward to it, am a fan of Gary Oldman. Dunkirk was excellent. The movie Get Out was ok, the actor was excellent but it's really not my type of movie.

Call Me by Your Name is the only nominated film I would be halfway interested in seeing. Maybe someday...

I was surprised I enjoyed Get Out as much as I did because I am not a fan of horror movies. But through the whole thing I was like “what is going on?” And then it was oh my god...this is crazy. I watched parts of it again yesterday and things made more sense since I know what was going on.

The Darkest Hour was really good.
