Just thought I'd relay a quick story of Olivia's strange little trip into the world!! (So, if'n ya don't like birth stories ---don't worry, won't be too much gore :) ---run away!!!!!!

We arrived at the hospital at 8:15 am Sunday morning. The pitocin IV drip was started at 10 am. Every 1/2 hour to an hour, they would gradually increase it. I would have a few good contractions every time they upped the dose, but then they would die away.

By 8 pm Sunday evening, I was only dilated to 1-2, so the doctor stopped the drip for about an hour and restarted it back at the lower dose. Same thing, some contractions, but then they would die out. By Monday morning, I had not progressed past 1-2, so the same thing....stop and restart the pit. Monday evening rolls around......same thing. :( Obviously, DH and I were EXTREMELY frustrated by this point as was my doctor. It was pretty much the assumption that doctor was going to have to do a C-section in the morning as doc (and me) didn't believe I would progress much beyond 2 cm. Oh, keep in mind, that this entire time, I had a raging headache and was only allowed clear liquids! UgghH!!!!

Well, finally around 11 pm Monday night, I started having good, regular, strong contractions. I was actually in labor!! Yea!! However, by 6:15 am, I was only at 4 cm, so the C-section came looming back into view. At 7:05 am, the nurse came in to tell me they were going to draw blood and have a bedside ultrasound to see baby's position. At that point, I thought I felt a little pushy, so I asked her to check me. She said she would check me after the ultrasound and sent in the lab lady. Well, I REALLY began feeling like I needed to push, so I am like "NO!!! Check me now!" Well, the nurse says "We really shouldn't check you too often once your water breaks as it could lead to an infection." And she walked out and the lab lady once again tried to wrap the tourniquet around my arm just as a huge contraction hit me. I told her "No!!!!!!!" and told my husband he better get the nurse NOW!!!! He ran out and got a different nurse who came right in and checked me to find the baby's head crowning. "We've got a baby!" she shouted to the other nurse and two pushes ;ater, Olivia entered the world!!

Flash forward 10 minutes to when my doctor entered the room. Wow....what a priceless expression he had on his face!! :D

Anyway, nurse Joannie did a great job guiding Olivia here!

And now, mommy gush time. She is sooooooooo beautiful!! With a perfect little round head and black hair and dark eyes. She is so tiny. I am followed everywhere by her brothers and sisters. They are so thrilled with her. Brittany has become her second mommy.

After feeling such heartbreak last year, the joy and thankfulness I feel right now and every time I look at her and hold her and touch her is so incredibly overwhelming. I let her know how much she is loved, both here on earth and up in Heaven by her guardian angel sister.

I want to thank all of you who had good wishes and prayers for Olivia and our family during this time. This is truly the start of one joyous and faith-filled holiday season for us all. We are so greatful and blessed. Here's wishing the peace and joy that we are feeling at my house will quickly spread to you all!! :wave2:
