...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

Below is a great video clip of the NYE party on the Magic. We were in Miami Harbour. For a couple that has not seen midnight on NYE, we had a great time and no problems staying up and partying last year. For those who want to be surprised, please do not watch. For those who want to get even more excite to see a little bit of what's to come..... Here it is:

Thanks for Sharing... This is great. Can't wait now. I heard some folks say they also have a balloon drop in the Atrium. I always wonder if things will be different between the Magic and the Wonder.

I was surprised to see the confetti especially at sea.

I am excited :yay:

Both DH and I remember the balloons hanging in the Atrium, but neither of use remember the drop. I have checked my Navigators, and nothing is indicating the balloon drop. I am thinking this was the night of the Captain's Welcome. The Atrium was packed, and I decided to avoid this event. Or maybe it was the 'Till we meet Again event on the last night. For those NCAA Football fans, you do not need to worry, it looks like a lot of the games are on in Diversions, and on January 1st the Sugar Bowl was on the Ariel View Television.

I am hoping there are some differences between the ship, and that the second year meets ... exceeds expectations. Just being out of the cold will meet expectations. It does not take much to make me happy.

Got some great ideas for the kids for FE gifts.

I agree with you. Being on the ship will make me happy! Every party I have been to at Disney has been fun, even in the pouring down rain. I love the dance parties they throw for the kids and I have no problem "bustin a move" with them.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Your comment about the rain reminds me of December 31, 2008. We were at Epcot. You had to pick your park and stay there. I believe Epcot hit capacity by 9:30AM. It rained most of the day off and on. We stayed for the early fireworks, I think it was around 7:30. Needless to say, the skies opened and poured rain, as soon as the fireworks started. It did not decrease the size of the crowds. My DH was protected by some building, but my DS and I stood out and watched the full show. This was a year that my DH and DS did not make it to midnight. We were at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I started to hear fire works around 11:30. It took so much for me not to run out on the balcony, and around the corner in my PJ's to watch the display. Now that's a night to be at WDW, but the crowds are ridiculous when you have small children (big children, too).

Patti - That is so funny, we were in DL, I believe at christmas time waiting for the fireworks. We were crammed in front of the castle in the hub with our then 3 yo DD on DH shoulders and the skys opened up and started pouring. We had a long walk back to our hotel. Everyone stayed for the whole fireworks show and it started late because of the wind.

Then in 2008, we went to WDW Pirate and Princess party in April, it started raining and never stopped the whole evening, everyone left the park. We went to a couple of the dance parties that they had and tried ever venue they had. The CM were so excited to see us because the party was almost empty due to the downpour. In some places were we went to get the treasure, we had to wade through ankle deep water. They ran the parade, but hardly anyone was out to watch it. We had a little bit of cover, but then for the fireworks we tried to stand under a building, but the rain was coming down sideways. I was never so happy to get rid of the ponchos.b

Then in 2009 we went to WDW for the MNSSHP and it rained again, but luckly it wasn't like the Pirate and princess party and we would walk around without getting soaked.

So is anyone else super excited? I really don't want to be at work today, I wish I was already on the cruise with you all celebrating the new year. This will be my first fish extender. SO EXCITED!!! I hope it ends up looking nice. Anyway hope all is well with you Disers.

They now FL resident rates for our cruise... until Sunday, Nov 7th
Cat 5 for $1639/person

Maybe that means they will start assign Cabins on Monday.

We were on vacation last week so I didn't post, but when I read this post I called DCL and got moved from 5522 to 7570, and DCL gave us back $298. It is great to be a FL resident!:cool1::cool1::cool1: Alex

Hey everyone. My parents and I will be joining you for New Years. (Mike (20), Paul & Joan). We just booked today, GTY stateroom so we don't know where we will be yet. We are actually cruising on the Wonder on the December 19th 4-night, and then hopping back on for New Years. DCL just can't keep us away, lol. I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread yet so if anything has been planned please let me know. Looking forward to meeting you all soon.

I will be on the cruise Dec 30th. Going solo to help a friend who's husband has ALS. Wish my partner could go but he can't get out of work and we are doing the Dream Inaugural as well. Would like to meet up with folks to say HI in Dec! Darren :)

:welcome: Mike and Family and Darren Glad to have you joining this cruise.

I know we are a small group, but we are planning on meeting on embarkment day at 3pm in the Promenade lounge on Deck 3.

FE exchange is going on as well and you can look on post #2 of this thread that indicates who is traveling and who is participating in FE.

Mike, I see you are from FL, have you seen the great Florida rates for cat 5?

Darren - I am jealous that you will be on the Dream MV, too bad your partner can not be with you on the NYE cruise.

Both - Check out the link and post some answers to the get to know you questions that are in the early posts of this thread.

:welcome: Darren. . . glad you are joining us too. :thumbsup2

So excited to go on the cruise too! I'm a newbie to fish extenders...what are they?? :)

There is a good explanation a few posts back, plus you can do a search and find the FE 101 and it give directions on how to make or order a FE plus gift ideas. As we have said before, it is a Secret Santa of sorts and it is totally up to the person on how much or even what is given. I always say it is the thought that counts. :grouphug:

I will be looking forward to getting to know everybody a little better before we meet on December 30. Time is flying by. Thanksgiving is next week!!! :scared1:

We got our room assignment 7534...A Cat 11...fine with us...We're on the ship thats all that matters.

Tina - Unless you mistyped... 7534 is a Cat 5. Most of the cabins with even numbers are view or veranda rooms. Hopefully you didn't mistype and you truly did get pixie dusted to a veranda room.

Typo...7543...Sorry! Thanks for noticing that!

Welcome  Nicole and family!

Dr Pepper and Minute Maid Lemonade mixed is something I have not tired. Who came up with that...

When I lived in Germany they had a mixture of Coke and Fanta orange soda that was very popular.

Laura

Laura,
Thanks for the welcome. I run a restaurant and you can get bored with the regular selections, so one day I decided to mix the two and it tasted terrific. I even have my employees drinking it that way.
