An update on David

Dave,

It's good to have definitive information and a plan of action. The cure rate is encouraging. I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

You know I'm going to send him that card! :) I hope many others will as well. I'll see if I can put together a hospital activity box. Hospitals and clinics are soooo boring.

Have you thought about keeping a journal for David? It may help you get through the tough times and help him later to see how far he has come. Something to think about.

Take care.

I am SO sorry to hear about David. I will be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

I was s o sorry to hear about David's diagnosis. We will keep him in our prayers. Stay strong - you WILL beat it.

Dave, I run a small business from my home making gift candy baskets for people staying at the Disney resort hotels. I would like to send a complimentary "Feel Better" basket to David. Would that be okay with you? Will he be able to have candy? Also, does he have a favorite Disney character that I could add to the basket? I can't imagine what your family must be going through. So hard for anyone, let alone a child. My prayers are with you and your family!

I know there is no comparison, but I tell my daughter that she has been through the war and is now stronger. She had her Appendix out and the doctors were being closed mouthed about her prognosis and recovery time. After her surgery he said it was perferated and she would be in the hospital 7 to 10 days for IV antibiotics. I expected her to bounce back after the surgery, but she was a very sick little five year old for all of those days.

To make a long story short, I kept telling her the whole time that she was going through all that, and a result would be that it would help her handle anything that came her way.

My heart goes out to your family & especially to David:hug:
I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers

Dave, I am so sorry to hear that your worst nightmare has come true. As I said before, your son is in the best hands around. I am sure the team of doctors that are tending to him will work miracles on him. My mom went thru stage 4 non-Hodgkins (all thru Henry Ford Hosp) and is in her 5th year. She has done CHOP (chemo) and several experimental drugs. She still ahs her tumors--they will never go away--but they have shrunk and there are no new ones. She continues to go for CTs and blood workups every 3 months. We are in year 5 and that is really good considering how bad the monster was growing in her.

Keep the faith and be strong. Your son will need you and your wife's support more than you know. My heart goes out to you and I will send David a "thinking of you" card. Hopefully his fan mail will cheer him up when he needs it most!

P.S. I am a grad of Utica HS. I am not too far from you. If you need anything, feel free to PM me!! More than glad to help any way I can!!

My ds9 contracted bacterial meningitis when he was three. He was given less than a 15% chance of survival. Today he is a happy, healthy boy, and was left with no permanent brain/spinal cord/hearing damage. *There is always, always, always hope.* Keep your faith and hold your family and friends close to you--their genuine love, caring and kindnesses will give you strength. Please know that you have thousands thinking of you and giving prayers for your precious little one--may God Bless You all.

You are strong, little David.

Oh man, your little guy hasn't left my thoughts and prayers since you first posted about him.
I'll continue to keep you all firmly in my prayers as you battle this beast.

I am so sorry to read this about your son. I didn't see your previous post, but will look for it. My prayers are with you during this difficult journey you must make. My 11 year old niece just went through a year of chemo and radiation for a rare children's cancer so I know how tough a road you have. Many prayers and well thoughts for David and wishes that his outcome is as good as my niece's has been.

I am sorry about the diagnosis for your son. David and your family will continue to be in my prayers. Take care.

My prayers are going out for you and your boy.

I pray for healing and comfort.

Take care!

Prayers said for Little David and the entire family.

I missed your original post yesterday, but your son will be in my prayers. Best wishes on his ordeal.:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

David Andrew is 4 years old (just turned 4 on 9/24)

Some other info..... we went to WDW from 12/28/03 to 1/2/04. He LOVED Mickey and was TERRIFIED of any "Pooh" characters.

Sincerely,
Dave Rider

To Feralpeg... If you wish to send something, that would be fine. Please understand however that I'm not looking for a handout for David, only the comfort that the DIS "family" can provide.:) Thank you again.

I'm sorry for David and your upcoming struggles. You will be in my prayers.
