An update on David

I totally understand that. This is just something I'd like to do for David.

Feral......... If you'd like to...... great! By the way, in regards to your first post, I would assume that candy is okay. Sorry if I came across a bit "strong". I have had less than 3 hrs sleep since I woke up Friday around 10:15am.

I'm leaving for the hospital in about 30 minutes (so DW can take a break). In case anyone has any other questions, I won't be able to get to a computer until about 8pm on Sunday.

Sincerely,
Dave Rider

I missed your first post. David and your family will be in my prayers and I'll try to send something this week.

David and all of your family are in my prayers. One of my Cub Scouts many years ago was diagnosed with the same thing...it was a long and difficult road, but 10+ years later he is planning his wedding and is considered cancer free. May God bless.

I'm so sorry to hear of David's diagnosis. I will definately keep him and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Continuing to keep David and your entire family in my prayers.

Your family is in our prayers as well. I'm so sorry for the diagnosis, and wish ypu all the best with David's treatment. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but please know we're here whenever you need an ear.

Steph

Continued good wishes and prayers, Dave, for your little David. So good the signs manifested themselves as the ydid and he is now at the beginning of his treatment and ultimate recovery. Some tough days ahead, but a distant memory at some point. Thanks for the address. My best, Dave.

David, you'll do great.

This is the first I've heard of this, and I'm so saddened.:( Prayers and hugs for David and all of you. He sounds like a strong boy with a good attitude, exactly what is needed to beat this. My cousin (an adult) just got the "all clear" from her leukemia. She had a stem cell transplant from her sister and it worked wonderfully. It's a tough disease, but it can be overcome. Hang in there Dave.

Dave, I want to add my best wishes and prayers for David.

There's so much support out there. Tell each and every neighbor, coworker and friend who asks how they can help. So many people will want to do something to assist David and your family. Let them, it's a gift to them as well as to you. Let them rake the leaves, run errands, make dinner - anything you need.

Does you area have a Candlelighters chapter? The hospital will have info if it does. It's a wonderful organization of families who've been where you are. Also take advantage of the support services the hospital has to offer - counseling, etc.

Your DIS family is with you. A card for David is on the way.

One thing I'd like to say to anyone who plans to send a card or small surprise to David. Consider including something for his brother too. Imagine how hard this ordeal will be for a six year old. His little brother is very ill and his parents time and attention will be focused there. He's going to need support too.

Thank you crazyforgoofy, for posting about David's brother. :) I really do appreciate it. I will certainly include him. It must be terribly hard for him in many ways as well.

And you are right. He is going to need support too.

P.S.- What is David's brother's name? Thanks!

So sorry to hear of your little boy's diagnosis. Prayers and :hug:s to your family.

Sorry to hear about your son's illness.

My 78 year old mother was diagnosed with Acute Mylegenous Leukemia in May 2004. She was hospitalized for two months for chemo. She had complications (infection and edema). On July 2nd her oncologist performed another bone marrow biopsy. The results showed no improvement in her leukemia cells. She gave my Mom three months to live. My Mom was doing fine since then so the oncologist performed another bone biopsy two weeks ago. The results -- her leukemia is in remission!!!!

Sending hugs and best wishes to your son.

Prayers from my family to yours. You are all in my thoughts.

Lots of extra strong prayers going up for your little guy..and for your whole family as well. {{{{}}}}

I am so sorry to hear about David's diagnosis. My prayers are with you all. May the Lord give you all the strength, peace, and hope you need as you face the road ahead. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do to make the road a little lighter.

I'm baaaaaccccckkkk, and so is David! He was released from the hospital around 7pm tonight. Oh by the way..... I finally got some sleep (about 5 or 6 hours worth). David currently, not including hospital visits, has to take 9 pills and 4 teaspoons of medication each day. Again, this is NOT INCLUDING visits to the hospital at at rate of 3 days per week! DW and I finally have stopped crying for the time being (DW hasn't cried since Saturday morning and I have only cried once in the past 22 hours.).

David (a big fan of the Detroit Lions) says that "When I get better, I'm going to play for the 'blue guys' and tackle the other guys." David definitely has an attitude, but noon can say it's negative.:hyper:

BTW, OceanAnnie, David's brother's name is Robert.

Thanks again for all of your love and support. I cherish each of you. May God shine upon you as brightly as you have upon us.

Sincerely,
Dave Rider
