First, to those who posted to yesterday's request for prayers concerning David, I read every single response and will share them with DW (who doesn't visit the DIS as often as I).
Now for the update...............................................
David was officially diagnosed yesterday (Friday, November 5, 2004) with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Of the Child Leukemias, this is the most common, showing up in about 75% of child Leukemia patients. The "cure" rate is currently at about 80%. David's spirits are as well as can be expected, being forced to lay in bed all day.
David will be in the hospital until at least Monday (11/8/04). He is getting his first dose of chemo today, as soon as his "platelette" count is brought up to an "acceptable" level.
This will be, at least, a 3 year battle. My son's fighting spirit and character will be tested, for sure...... but it will also be needed.
To Ocean Annie...... yes, my son would absolutely love a "get well" card. (your idea, not mine)
Since you, the DIS, know more about me than most people, here is our address, should one want to send a card to David.....

Again, I'm not asking for "get well" cards, but Ocean Annie brought it up in my previous post.
I will give further updates when things dramatically progress (either good or bad), but not until then.
Thanks again for your love and support. I cherish each of you with all my heart.
Sincerely,
Dave Rider

I will keep your son and your family in my prayers. I hope there will be a complete remission soon.
