An Unforgettable Finish- Oct 2011 TR **Happily Ever After (Completed 5/3)

Wow, sounds like an eventful Crystal Palace lunch. It's good to hear the food was good, and that you got a few blissful moments to yourself. But unfortunate to see that Landon did not have a good time. Wonder what caused him to be so upset. :confused3
I hope the rest of your day went smoothly after that.

Your lunch at Crystal Palace looks like it was fun! That's so weird that Landon likes more "exotic" things to eat and Carter likes typical kid food, they seem very opposite sometimes!

I'm glad they had such a great time with the characters, even if poor Landon lost interest after a while!

SOmetimes the crowdedness (is that a word) can cause kids to just get really upset. It's so stimulating!

Your boys really are good eaters, even if Landon eats more veggies.

Looks like a great meal at one of my favorite places of all time! And Piglet is really the best of all of the characters, IMO.

I left a tip and took the cannoli.

Sooo saw that coming. :rotfl:

Poor Landon.. No clue what set him off? He looked like he was having a great time before. I wish it had gone a little better for him, but Carter seemed happy to the end.

Love the photobomb! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry you had a difficult meal at CP. I agree the very worst is when kids melt down in public and there is nothing you can do to salvage the situation. I'm glad he calmed down with your mom, and that you were able to finish eating.

Also, count me in with those that are impressed with your boys eating! Do you have any tricks or tips for getting kids to eat their veggies? I can get Everett to eat exactly zero vegetables and only three types of fruit. I honestly still give him baby food vegetable/fruit mixes in the squeezey pouches. He'll still eat those, and I guess that's better than nothing.

Oh, so many things I want to comment on....I hope I don't forget them all.

Okay, first, you know your kids' cuteness is infectious when you see so many people in the background of their pictures looking at them with such big smiles. :goodvibes

I love all of the photos! But, the photobomb of Pooh & Carter is the best!!! :thumbsup2

I am very impressed with Mr. Landon's palette. The only vegetables I can get Reid to eat are green beans & cooked carrots. He won't touch anything else. Not even corn. And at least he got some food in his tummy before he had his little meltdown. I know just how frustrating it is when your little one is crying & nothing seems to help & you just can't figure out what's wrong. And at that age it's so bad because they can't verbalize the problem. I think, as moms, we do feel like we should always know what's wrong & how to fix everything. But, we have to remember that none of us have all the answers all the time & that is okay! That was great that you had your mom there to help otherwise you might not have been able to finish your lunch. I was happy to hear that Landon felt much better once he got outside.

I feel like there was something else I wanted to comment on but now I can't remember. I really need to start taking notes when I read updates to TR's. :lmao:

I thought it was interesting to see the other people in our pictures when we got home. Carter and Landon are always so excited that everyone stops to smile at them.

Thanks! I love that photobomb picture of us.

Landon's going to be a foodie when he grows up. :rotfl: He loves grown up food of all kinds. Carter will eat most vegetables, assuming that they're cooked very plainly with no unusual spices or sauces. It was good that Landon ate before melting down, but it was still really frustrating. He's started talking so much more than he was in October, so hopefully we're done with that stage. I hate not knowing what's wrong. I was really glad my mom was there for that meal. Even when I don't always know what to do, she usually does. Landon bounced back incredibly fast. I suspect that means whatever his complaint was nothing too serious.

I have trouble remembering everything I thought to comment on while reading trip reports, too.

Aww I love all of the pictures, but the photobomb one is priceless!!

Too bad Landon wasn't very happy the second half of the meal - but its Disney we all have those moments :rotfl: but seriously I am sure that is so frustrating glad to see he got back to his normal self!

Thanks! We had a lot of fun with the photobomb one.

I wish it hadn't have happened that way, but I guess it turned out all right. Disney's a lot for little guys sometimes. I was glad he recovered, too.

All the photos are precious. Carter just looks so happy to be with his Disney friends. :goodvibes

I mean I'm no mom, but it didn't seem like Landon had a problem being woken up, because he was happy at first, right? Maybe he was still just tired and it suddenly just hit him. I'm glad he was fine after being taken outside!

Carter was absolutely thrilled with the Crystal Palace! It's his new favorite place to eat.

The whole thing was very odd. I could understand if Landon had woken up in a bad mood, but he was happy at first and then all of a sudden he wasn't. I'm sure he was still tired, but something probably set him off, too. I was happy to see him playing outside.

Landon likes broccoli???? Wow! :lmao:

Lunch looks like it was off to a promising start. It's a shame that Landon didn't want to stay happy the whole time. If you can ever figure out what a toddler is thinking, you'll be a billionaire.:lmao::rotfl2:

At least Carter seemed to really be enjoying himself, and I'm glad Borsie was there to save the day and let you finish your meal in peace.

Landon loves broccoli! I do, too, actually. When we have broccoli for dinner, it's hard to make enough of it, since Landon will eat as much as there is.

Lunch started off so good! The boys loved the characters and the food and everything. I wish Landon had been happy the whole time. Wouldn't it be great if babies came with little thought translators? :rotfl:

Carter loved the Crystal Palace. He's always hoping to go back. It was really great that Borsie was there that day. It was actually very nice to sit alone at the end of the meal.

Oh no! I am so sorry that it wasn't the best meal!

It always seems that way. But I don't think it's true. I make it up about 150% of the time! You just do your best and keep your fingers crossed! I will never be one of those perfect Moms!

It had a lot of potential, but once Landon got upset, it wasn't much fun.

I don't know...my mom always knows what to do! Maybe by the time I have grandkids, I'll know as much as she does. Until then, I'll just have to keep doing the best I can.

First of all, I am insanely jealous that your kids are such awesome eaters. Maddie is not too picky, but broccoli and most other vegetables are out to the question.

That photobomb picture is priceless! I think it's the cutest character picture ever.

Leave the tip, take the canoli? I am a very happy reader today. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the smiles while I'm eating lunch with a grumpy 5 year old.

The foods Landon will eat surprises me all the time. The few times he comes across a food he doesn't like, he'll keep trying it again and again until he can eat it. My kids have always been okay with vegetables, which is great.

Thanks! Landon and I had a lot of fun with that one.

I thought that would be fun to stick in there. :teeth:

Why are they always grumpy at meal times? :rotfl:

I hope the rest of your day went smoothly after that.

It was a very eventful lunch. The food was great and at first the characters were wonderful, but the whole thing with Landon was too bad. I've thought a lot about what upset him, but nothing really makes sense. The best I can come up with is that he saw Piglet walk away and then I walked away in the same direction, so maybe he thought I was leaving him for Piglet. Of course, if that were it, he would have recovered when I came back, so who knows!

Your lunch at Crystal Palace looks like it was fun! That's so weird that Landon likes more "exotic" things to eat and Carter likes typical kid food, they seem very opposite sometimes!

I'm glad they had such a great time with the characters, even if poor Landon lost interest after a while!

The fun parts of lunch were really, really fun. Carter and Landon very often like the exact opposite things to eat. When they have spaghetti and meatballs, Carter eats only spaghetti and Landon eats only meatballs. It kind of works out that way. :rotfl:

They did love meeting the characters, at least at first. I guess Carter liked every character he got to see.

SOmetimes the crowdedness (is that a word) can cause kids to just get really upset. It's so stimulating!

Your boys really are good eaters, even if Landon eats more veggies.

That could be. Landon seemed a little confused by the process of character dining. It's different having the characters walk away from him than the other way around. Combined with the noise of the room and the lack of sleep, it might have just been too much.

They are pretty good eaters. They both have great appetites!

We liked Crystal Palace so much more than we had expected to. We'd been once before, many years ago and I remembered the food being average and the characters being nice, but nothing too great. This time we really loved it! Well, everyone but Landon loved it, that is.

Sooo saw that coming. :rotfl:

Poor Landon.. No clue what set him off? He looked like he was having a great time before. I wish it had gone a little better for him, but Carter seemed happy to the end.

Love the photobomb! :thumbsup2

Really? It sort of snuck up on me. I hadn't planned on it, but at the last minute I tossed it in. :rotfl:

It's hard to make any sense of it. Jeremy says that Landon was upset because I left, but he wasn't any calmer once I came back. Maybe he thought if he kept crying he'd get Piglet and Pooh to come back. I don't know.:confused3 Carter really liked his lunch. He's disappointed now whenever we go to Magic Kingdom and don't eat at Crystal Palace.

Thanks!

I hate public meltdowns, especially at Disney World. It started out so well, too. Oh, well. I'm glad he calmed down with my mom, too. Whatever it was that was bothering him must not have been too serious.

Landon and Carter love the squeezey pouches of applesauce. They'd eat a box a day if I let them. One thing that Jeremy and I agreed on before we had the boys was that we did not want to raise picky eaters. We made a pact to never let the boys hear us say we didn't like certain foods and to try our best to eat anything ourselves, too. I actually hated tomatoes my entire life, but once Carter was born, I started eating them, because I couldn't ask him to do what I wasn't willing to do myself. They're really not too bad once you get used to them. I also keep putting whatever food we're having on their plates, whether they like it or not. I've always believed that if you keep offering a variety of healthy foods, eventually, they'll eat what they need. Of course, none of that may have made any difference at all. Jeremy and I weren't picky eaters as kids, so it may be completely genetic. :confused3

Okay, Landon looks absolutely adorable with his new haircut. Just so grown up, you're right. Jason is always hesitant to cut Joaquin's hair, because one time they cut it far too short and all of his curls were gone. He was very unhappy about it.

I love love love your photobomb picture. Great way to ruin the potential perfect setup the characters try for. I think they do that because a lot of people want it. I think that unplanned is always the best. It's those moments that you capture something magic.

I love how Landon looks with short hair. The curls were cute, but I think the straight hair is adorable, too. Joaquin's curls came back, didn't they? His hair looked so curly in your TR that I can't quite imagine him without the curls.

Thanks! I guess a lot of people want the perfect picture, but I've always felt it's way more about the experience than getting a perfect shot. Unplanned really works for toddlers and it does seem to capture the magic moments.

Loved this update! It sounds like perfect Disney fun. Sometimes you need to just sit back and enjoy your surroundings!

The "DOGGIE" after every picture cracked me up! :rotfl:

How much fun! Rides & nap time for the boys!

I love how much they love the escalator after Pirates. :goodvibes I'll have to keep in mind that driving the cars in a circle can make a little boy sleepy! :thumbsup2

I don't blame y'all one bit for just sitting there, talking & relaxing. It's still magical!

I love it that you reclined the stroller just enough so they wouldn't suspect. I know exactly what you mean.

It sounds like a perfect time at the Magic Kingdom. :cloud9:

I think its so awesome that Carter knows and recognizes the rides. Its so cute that he can help plan what you guys go next in the parks!

Glad both boys enjoyed their ride on pirates and too funny about all the "doggies"

You had me laughing with the stroller recline comment, we do the same thing around here!

I love that Carter was in charge of the ride lineup and that he knew exactly what he wanted. The pirate "doggies" cracked me up!

Landon is obviously ahead of his time and will probably invent an automobile that drives itself!

I laughed over the boy's excitement over the dog on Pirates. I can see why that would be such a cool sight for kids.

Based on their excitement over the excalator, I wonder what Carter and Landon will think of the moving floor after Space Mtn when they're tall enough to ride it.

Sitting in Magic Kingdom doing nothing is one of my favorite pasttimes at WDW. It sounds crazy, but it can so nice to be able to stop and take in the sights and sounds around you. :thumbsup2

Doesn't Landon know that you aren't supposed to just leg go of the wheel like that? Geez, kids these days!!:rotfl2:

Some of the best times I remember from our trips are just hanging around enjoying each other!

It really was perfect Disney fun. I loved going on all the rides with the boys, especially since they seemed to be really into it. It was great to sit back and take a break, too.

:laughing:Landon thought every type of animal was a doggie on that trip.

How much fun! Rides & nap time for the boys!

I loved taking them on rides, but I was also really happy when they went to sleep!

I would never have guessed that going up that escalator would be such a big thrill, but they really enjoy it. :rotfl: Apparently, driving the cars is very tiring. I suppose driving makes me tired, too sometimes.

It was really very pleasant, just sitting there, enjoying a little grown up time. Nobody felt motivated enough to get up.

I love it that you reclined the stroller just enough so they wouldn't suspect. I know exactly what you mean.

It sounds like a perfect time at the Magic Kingdom. :cloud9:

We figured that one out pretty quick. They can never know that they're about to have a nap.

It was pretty perfect, all right.

Carter's a little genius! He remembers so much of our trips and can rattle off perfectly which rides we went on and in what order. I have a fairly good memory, but if I ever forget what we did next, I can always ask Carter.

I'm really glad they like pirates. That's one of my favorites, too. Landon was so funny finding all the doggies on pirates. :rotfl:

If I were going to nap in a stroller, I'd be happy to have someone recline the seat for me, but Carter and Landon never appreciate it.

I love that Carter was in charge of the ride lineup and that he knew exactly what he wanted. The pirate "doggies" cracked me up!

Landon is obviously ahead of his time and will probably invent an automobile that drives itself!

Carter had been talking about pirate toes, up escalator, and teacups a lot, so I figured that's what he would pick. I like being able to include him in planning our day. Landon was funny with all his Doggies.

Landon could totally invent a car that drives itself. He'd probably make it go extra fast and able to bounce like the honeypots in Winnie the Pooh. He loves thrill rides. :rotfl:

I laughed over the boy's excitement over the dog on Pirates. I can see why that would be such a cool sight for kids.

The boys both love dogs, especially Landon. There's so much to see on Pirates.

They'll either totally love the Space Mountain escalator, or be way too grown up to be excited over an escalator by then. :rotfl:

I love sitting around doing nothing, too and we did a lot of that this day. Sometimes, it's enough just to be there.

Doesn't Landon know that you aren't supposed to just leg go of the wheel like that? Geez, kids these days!!:rotfl2:

Some of the best times I remember from our trips are just hanging around enjoying each other!

Only 13 more years til Landon will get his license! :rotfl: I'm sure he'll have it figured out by then.

Me, too! I love those moments spent just sitting around and having a good time together.

I'm glad Carter got to see Pirate toes and Landon got to see Doggies. :lmao: I guess as long as he's enjoying himself, that's what is important.

That's a relief that they went to sleep without putting up too much of a fight. Must be part of why Landon wasn't very cooperative at lunch.

Landon loves Doggies of all shapes and sizes. :rotfl: As long as he's not trying to jump water to go kiss the doggies, it's fine with me. Whenever I ask Carter what his favorite ride is at Disney World, he always says Pirate Toes, Up Escalator, Teacups.

I love it when they both sleep at the same time. Probably that did play a role in the lunch time drama. I've wondered if he had a bellyache from eating too much broccoli, too. :confused3
