An Open Pre-Trip Report: Who Will Be At The Fort The Last Week of March 2014?

Pit stop #1: three and a half hours to a chic fil a in Hattiesburg to let our neighbors toddler wear herself out (hopefully) and then we'll be back on the road. Getting down to Pensacola - ish tonight.

I'm glad it's somewhat warm where you are at Bama Ed. I pulled my popup out of storage Tuesday to drain the antifreeze in the waterlines, pump up the tires, and rolled it back in. Friday I will hook on for good and hope to be in the 1300 loop by Saturday afternoon. I had won a new truck and fifth wheel in a raffle, but that's another long story. On my way to the boats, I'll take a tour through the 100's loop to check out your light. Can't wait to get there.

Washed and filled up the RV today.

All I have to do is pack, hook up the car, get the dog wife and dog in the RV, find the keys.

Can't wait to get on the road.

Every one drive safely and see you at FW and the magic begins

ops I forgot I need to make sure the son is in the RV also. Hope I don't forget something else

We are just about to leave, hopefully if all goes well we'll be South of Richmond VA before the morning rush hour and spending the night at the North Jacksonville/St Mary's KOA.

Safe travels and fun times to everyone going. Could someone please get a pic of the new stuff behind 300 loop (bat house) I'm dying to see it.

Stayed last night with the big rigs at the Florida welcome center on I-10. We've never done this before, I kinda like the free night! Our last trip here was with a popup and you can't set one of those up at midnight in a parking lot!

Now to scrounge up breakfast and get back on the road.

Hey cousineddie, if you were passing through Hattiesburg last night then we just missed each other. I stayed there last night because I have class today and it's just easier to stay the night than drive early the next morning from Meridian. Looks like you are making good time.

Ed, you should be getting just about ready to head out. Shame you made the wife go to work...

Safe travels to all of you heading out.

Jared, hope you make it to the Fort safe and sound. I've added your name to our list on page 1. And since you mentioned it, you know I'm going to HAVE to hear the story about the raffle. :listen:

WeCamp2, this sort of feels to me like our own little version of "Cannonball Run". :car:

Ah, DW is an angel, she is. :bride:

But you're right. Time to shut down and load up everything left.

See ya'll at the Fort! :woohoo:

We made it to the KOA in Georgia, right off I95 about a mile from the Florida line. Our plan of leaving early to miss the morning Baltimore / DC / Richmond traffic worked great, only a accident in South Carolina slowed us down for about a half hour, had the cruise set at 68 the rest of the way down. A little under 200 miles tomorrow.

We made it to the Santos Campground and trailhead in Ocala, FL tonight. Under the advise of the locals, we're down at the junction of the Withlacoochee River and Hwy 200 at a restaurant called "Stumpknockers". If the packed parking and long wait is any indication, the food is bound to be phenomenal. We're on the patio under the Spanish moss and palmettos waiting on our food now.

Early start tomorrow for the last leg into the Fort!

We are tucked in for the night in Tallahassee. As I drove on I-10 I saw what you said, cousineddie, about people overnighting in the Florida rest stops.

We hit Montgomery a little after 4pm and on a Friday afternoon heading into spring break, we crawled for a while. Troy was particularly backed up but after that it went pretty smooth.

BTW, for me a live TR doesn't officially begin till I am at the Fort.

Tick tock!

Bama Ed

PS-tethering my Samsung Mega to the laptop is working well tonight. First time to try tethering on the new phone so I won't even bother with a modem kit from the Fort.

We left yesterday at 3:30 and spent the night in Orangeburg SC. We'll make it to Kissimmee today but are headed to Legoland first, by popular demand. Can't wait to get to the fort Monday!

Up and having my coffee. Gotta get the pups to the dog sitters house ( which is a major production). All packed but have to wait until around 10 or so to leave. Gonna throw everything in the truck and then head to where we store the trailer to hook up then headed to Tallahassee.:cool1::dance3: Can't believe it is finally here!

This thread is killing me! Cover is still on the MH and more snow is due on Tuesday. We're hitting the road for the Fort on 4/23 , and have a "make sure everything works " trip planned for 4/11. This is , with out a doubt , the winter that will not quit!

:banana: The more I read the more excited I get!! The fam and I will be arriving at the Fort on Monday! I am supposed to meet Bill from beachline golf carts at the kennel at 1pm. He told me I needed to have my gate key with me so looks like I will be shooting for an early check in. I don't care if my cabin is ready or not, I will just be happy to be there!! lol... Hope to get a chance to bump into some of you guys there!! See everyone on the 24th! :yay:

Ok I started a live trip report thread thats open for all to post in. Lets pick up the conversation there please. Btw 81F temp today at noon checkin. :)
