Worth it is subjective and there are a lot of variables to factor in. Will you be staying somewhere in the Orlando area before/after? Do you have a budget? Have you ever stayed on property before? Are you just doing SW or do you plan on spending a significant amount of time in the park?
If I were moving onto somewhere else the next day and didn't have a schedule as to when I had to be there and there wasn't more than a 2 or 3 hour drive away? Yes, I would spend one night at a WDW resort, most likely the night after I had visited the park. You can make your reservation and do on line check in, arrive at the resort as early as you want, even before park open. Park you car at the resort (it will cost you since they now charge for overnight guests to park at the resorts) go the front desk and let them know you are there and they might already know your room number. If you are staying at a value or moderate, they might be able to at least tell you the building so you can move your car there. If you are staying in a deluxe, you can store your luggage with them if you don't feel comfortable leaving it in the car. Hop on a bus or if you are staying in one of the Epcot resorts or Swan/Dolphin walk over to HS. Then when you are done and more tired than words can explain, you can head back to resort for a rest before you head out the next day with the rest of your trip.
For me, staying on property is part of the whole Disney experience and worth the price but it's not for a lot of people and I can certainly see why.
