An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

I actually had mine in an album on Facebook so it was easy to grab. ;)

mine were on FB too! Before this topic even started in here I had my profile pic on FB, my prom picture. I get a kick out of seeing the girls at the mall trying on dresses and it took me back to mine!

:cool1: :thumbsup2

Here is my prom picture (with my mom - don't know that my boyfriend at the time would want his picture all over the internet):

I don't have an appropriate funny prom story to share. :rolleyes1

that dress def has 80's written all over it!.....I was guilty of a similar crime of fashion.

Liesa, loved the prom pics! Evan went to his first formal dance last fall and I was a mess...I couldnt beleive my baby was that old or that I was old enough to have a 16 yr old.

Doesn't like redheads :scared1::confused::eek::scared1::confused::eek:

If it makes you feel any better, it's mostly redheaded men she has issue with, and like I said she married a redhead so she can't really be bothered too much by it. :rotfl:

Carissa, your prom pic was too funny. My dress was scarily similar. Have to love the 80's! I didn't go to my prom, but this was from my senior cotillion. That dress is still sitting in my basement.

Prom....ahhhh, prom! I went to the prom with my high school sweetheart. Here I am with my mom...(These are my natural curls with 14 lbs of hairspray):

I know, I'm hot! :rolleyes1

Stephen and I were both broke. We were each leaving for Basic Training right after graduation so we had ZERO money. Of course everyone was talking about going to these fancy dinners and stuff. Well, being the poor, fun people that we are.......we went to Dairy Queen! All dressed up, hair done, looking great and chowing down on Double Cheeseburgers and blizzards. It was great. Our school hosted After-Prom to discourage teen drinking and stuff. Naturally we ditched that and headed over to Virginia Beach. On our way, we hit Fast Food joint #2.....Good Ole Mickey D's! We got over to the beach and I headed straight into the ocean. So did he which was a pretty big mistake with a rented tux and all! oops! Prom was awesome. I dont think Ive ever seen so many pregnant people on the dance floor in my life! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Great Stories- Even better picture!!

I'm impressed with your creativity on making a fun evening out of a cashless situation! Very fun! Swimming in a rented tux! That's a new one... Guess he may have been even MORE broke after that stunt. :lmao:

All the girls that got pregnant at our school weren't seen a whole lot- they usually ended up at the alternative school. I was so sad for them. :sad1:

No time to catch up now gotta run !! Will try to tonight !!

Hi Rosie!!! Have a great work shift! :goodvibes

Well stop by when you get a chance... I still have 7 more days to go. :lmao:

I don't think it was the dance clubs... maybe it was something served in those dance clubs. :confused3

Can plead the 5th? I will say that Taco Tuesdays at one of our places was a pretty good deal. :rolleyes1

No snot wads but definitely a good chuckle! I will wait for some of the infamous discussions that always happen on your thread before blowing snot wads!

Have a good night and see you in the AM!

I'm here!!

We always get some good stuff rolling over here! Keep your giggle ready!

Wow!! You guys are all looking so amazing!!

Are appropriate and funny mutually exclusive in this case?? :rotfl2:

Nice pic....

I guess I am going to have to dig up mine. Now where are those pics?

In your basement?? Attic? Shoebox somewhere in dark forgotten, lonely closet??

:woohoo: :woohoo:

I actually had mine in an album on Facebook so it was easy to grab. ;)

Mine are all in the US. Dang! I had a similar 80s poofbomb- Pretty at the time.... ;)

They are always in such a twitter!! You should have heard my son's MOTHER'S goings on!! You'd think they were going to the moon.

I might have been too, if I lived anywhere near him. I was really sad not to get to be part of it in some ways. At least his girlfriend's mother and the school photographer are my FB friends- I can always pull photos off of there.

It was borrowed from a friend, but I admit that I adored that dress. I felt like a princess. princess:

Me too!! It was LARGE, and cornflower blue, and so pretty. I felt like Scarlett, but not a snotty.

Was yours a Gunny Sack?? I love it!! So frilly- makes me want to wear it to the GF Tea!

Tate was feeling rather left out, and wanted to get in on this whole prom deal. When she saw all of your lovely dresses, she went out an bought a dress of her own, and went to get her hair done too, although she's really rather disappointed in how it turned out. To woo a potential date, she even took it upon herself to buy some flowers. Unfortunately, her dress and flowers are quite mismatched with her otherwise adorable shoes.

See how's she's waiting by the phone in utter desperation?? She is trying her best to keep her chin up and her smile on her face, but her hope is waning. Will Tate O. get the call she's been waiting for all her life? Will she hear from the young man of her dreams??

What advice would you give Tate as she waits for her beau to call?

ALSO:

Something wonderful and fun arrived in the mail yesterday, and I wanted to share it with you. All of you said you wanted my TR to be "door to door" so I feel compelled to include a mini-report of our time in Nuremberg- afterall, you all know and love Magdelena too!!! Imagine a DISMeet prior to the Invasion... how awesome is THAT?!

Here are the brochures and travel guide books she sent to us to help us plan out our visit to Bavaria. I am so excited to see the castle and taste some REAL schnitzel! Mmmm!

THANKS from the bottom of my heart, Magedelena! I'll make sure we bring it all back in good shape. ;)

You'll be fine! Just pack a little each day, keep your head about you. Make lists and post them on the fridge. Relax. Breathe. Enjoy!

Morning Liesa!

Home from my usual Monday guys night out, but I wanted to let you know I will have to search for my prom pics. I know I have a few around but I think they are only wallet size. When I was 19 we had a house fire and I lost most of my pictures and most of my belongings. Once I find them I'll do some scanning and get them on here with all the great girly pics! :thumbsup2

Packing usually isn't the thing that get's me uptight, it's usually making sure I have all the information down that I want to take with me.
All the places and investigation that I've put into this.. I want to make sure I get there with all of this information. Did I get on paper everything I want to do this time, am I making sure my inten. is acurate? Which I'm sure is, it's just the idea of getting there and being ill-prepared that has me all in a twitter!

Maybe a "good morning" to you in is order as well. :lmao:

I was just thinking the other day about what we'd grab (I go there every so often) if we had a fire. Pictures, computer, and house documents would be tops! But I know sometimes there's not even enough time for that! I'm glad you were ok, that's the most important thing.

Wallets are good. It'll give us an idea!

I'm heading to bed... I know Juliana will be up early :headache: Hopefully Mel will let me sleep in. :cloud9:

I always thought about what I would grab in a fire and when it actually happened I didn't grab one thing. Getting out of a burning house and making sure everyone else was out was the top priority. I only had the clothes on my back.

The most important things to me now are my pictures. I have them backed up 3 different ways but all three are in this house. (besides photobucket.. but that is like 2% of our pics) I really need to buy another hard drive and copy all pics and other important documents on there and store it at my parents house.. or somewhere else. If we ever lost our house, we would lose a lot of memories.

That must have been terrifying!! :scared1: By the time you knew there was a fire, it must have been big enough to not have been able to do anything but GET OUT! We came close to that when we lived in Ecuador. We went to bed, and forgot to blow out a candle on the table. I couldn't fall asleep and got up to take a bath. When I opened the door I noticed weird "glow" on the hallway wall in front of me, and thoguht to myself, "that's weird". I turned my head and saw the entire kitchen table in flames! :scared1:

But you have to understand something about living overseas. Almost always there are bars over every window. Keeps your stuff safe from thievery, but dangerous if there's a fire. We managed to get it out with wet dish towels and all was fine, but it was a fine like between trying to put it out or bailing with the 3 kids. If it had grown any bigger, there might not have been a way out at all.

In hindsight it was totally God's hand of protection! I was JUST pregnant and rarely had trouble sleeping. Why on that night would He keep me up? Also, we know now that at that altitude (we were WAYYYY high up in the Andes) fires burn much slower due to lack of O2. One of those times you look back with amazing gratitude. :worship:

It's a good reminder to back things up. Right now we are in sorry shape in that area! Time to do it. Today!

Camille, did you make a journal?? I am going to wait until May to start sharing the layout of my 2 journals- the Mickey and the Minnie, but I would really suggest you make a little booklet divided into sections of hidden gems/ things you want to do according to each park (or even land) and the resorts and/or restaurants. I also have sections for travel info., packing lists, drink/snack choices etc... It really gives a little peace of mind knwoing it's all there.
