An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

TG, you study this nutty stuff. What percentage of americans dream about past relationships 25 years after the fact??

Oh sure..ask me a hard question on the spot! :upsidedow

What I'm saying may be wrong, so don't quote me or think I'm right!!

You mentioned Freud. He was all about the unconscious and thought that dreams were our way of expressing our unconscious wishes.

I don't know a % for that though. :flower3:

I think you will love it here. :) Although, I will say there were kids around and being kids.

I'm sure it will be just fine. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what other kinds of alcohol you have to mix with it.. gin is a hard liquor to add to drinks IMO.

You can try this- Long Island Iced Tea (only have one and wait. LOL)

1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz light rum
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz tequila
1 oz sour mix
cola
lemon wedge for garnish
Preparation:

Pour the spirits and sour mix into a collins glass with ice.
Stir well or shake.
Top the glass off with cola.
Garnish with the lemon wedge.

Variations of the LIIT:

Long Beach Iced Tea – cranberry juice
Miami Iced Tea – cranberry juice, lemon-lime soda, peach schnapps for tequila
Electric Iced Tea – blue curacao and lemon lime soda
Hawaiian Iced Tea – pineapple juice
Raspberry Long Island Iced Tea – raspberry vodka and rum (possible with any infused spirits)
Texas Tea – add bourbon
Touchdown Tea – Gatorade for sour mix

Tom Collins (I wouldn't drink this.. but it is semi popular)

The Tom Collins refreshing gin sour that is an excellent sipper for hot summer days. There are a two common ways to make this drink. The one below uses simple syrup and lemon while the other replaces those two ingredients with the convenience of sour mix.
There are other many “Collins” drinks that vary because of the base liquor: ie. John Collins, Vodka Collins, Juan Collins, American Collins.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz sugar syrup
club soda
maraschino cherry for garnish
lemon slice for garnish
Preparation:

Pour the gin, lemon juice, and sugar syrup in a collins glass with ice cubes.
Stir thoroughly.
Top with club soda.
Garnish with the cherry and orange slice.

Gin and Juice

Ingredients
2 oz. gin
2 oz. grapefruit juice
3 oz. orange juice
ice
1 lime wedge.

These should get you started! :worship::worship: :lmao::lmao: :drinking1:drinking1

Why is it that of all people, I knew you'd come through for me!! :lmao:

OK, no LIIT for me. I'm not going to go out and buy 3 more bottles of booze for one or two drinks. But the Collins I CAN and WILL do. I happened to have some good OJ AND club soda is actually MORE popular and cheaper than reg. water here. If you go out to eat, it's hard to find non-gassed water.

So, I'll let you know how my collins goes tonight!! ;)

Send a glow cube!!

Well at least someone was watching her! Hypothetically speaking. ;)

I think dreams like this make you thankful once you wake up... speaking of dreams, I should go make some of my own now.

Glad it was hypothetical. And yes, I"m glad I can REALLY get a Tangierine Dream in a little over

4 MONTHS!!!!!!

G'Nite, Tim.

:lmao: don't stress yourself out, dearie. It was mostly a rhetorical question. I think it's more common than most folks will admit to.

Freud was weird, and that's all I have to say about that. ;) I think he overrated procreation.

WEll, Lady and Gentleman...

I should pretend to do something today. The rest of my books are calling out to me- "Please. Please finish going through us now... we want to be packed in a dark stuffy box and shipped to a new owner and home. We promise we will bring you a good price, and will be very good to the boys and girls who will read us! We will bring them endless hours of entertainment!!"

I hope to get another day up later today as my reward to for a spell of work. Ugh! and it's another stinkin' run day.

May all of you dreams be Frued-free, and safe for your children and loved ones. May they be full of Tangierine-y goodness and may you be let into the lounge of your virtual cruiseships. :cloud9:

Good morning!

That makes sense. Your German train system seems like it makes travel so easy and quick! Or would you mostly fly? Assuming there's no ash to deal with. :rotfl:

The train system in most parts of Europe is great. Although the German Railways had some problems in the last years, mainly with the highspeed trains.... (This weekend one of the ICE lost a door in a tunnel while passing another ICE :scared1: but I'm sure they'll have figured it out until you take the ICE) There are flights within Germany and unfortunately they are sometimes cheaper than a train ticket. But I prefer traveling by train when possible and I guess as long as people don't travel from one end of Germany to the other, most of them will choose the train or a car for transportation. An we'll see how many of the smaller and cheaper airlines will survive the ash!

If I have a cruise dream- I'm blaming you! :rotfl2:

I've certainly been blamed for things far worse. :lmao:

That's pretty scary!!

You are so right. WHen something like this happens, it sure weeds out the smaller companies. I think all of them will have taken a huge hit with the ash crisis.

Honestly, even with all the horror stories I've told about the trains here, I still prefer to travel that way IF I am without kids, IF I can get a coupe away from the toilet, IF I have a good book and IF I take my own pillow.

It's a nice long ride to write, collect ones thoughts, sleep, relax and all that good stuff.

that's alot of "if's"!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can only imagine how lovely the toilet on those trains must smell...

You have absolutely NO idea!! Never mind the fact that it's like hitting a moving target...

Carissa is calling herself a "graduate" today, and I'm (we all) are so proud of her!! Way to GO, Girl!

But I am celebrating just as much today!!! Today, I can call myself a graduate too because I just finished the first day of Week 2 in the C25K!! I can say that, although I was sucking some serious air by the end, and was saying to myself, "If there is one more "run" after this, there is NO WAY!" I did it!!! It was a major push, and I see myself camping her for a couple weeks at least, but speed is not my goal; and I'm ok with that.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

So, like C, I'm going to put up a before and after shot. Who knows what the difference will be by the end of the summer, but I always say, "The proof's in the pudding" or in this case The Flab. If anything, I hope the cottage cheese factor will more resemble cream cheese, and not be so easily prone to "dance" when I hit the road, or Disney World.

Speaking of kitchen gadgets, anyone on here know of a really good apple slicer, you know the one's that are segregated into all the slices and cores it all at the same time? My daughter eats a lot of apples and likes to use this to cut up her apples. I don't like her to use a knife just yet and need a new apple slicer since the one I have has pretty much lost it's sharpness, I need to find a new one. The one I saw at Crate and Barrel seemed a little to dangerous and very tall, I wouldn't be able to put it into a drawer to store it. Why do they make things you can't store easily? :confused3

Well of course I can point you to a nice one that PChef offers. I'll PM Judy's web page to you.

We were on a cruise for my 25th reunion (crap, I'm old!) and I was snubbed by the In-crowd (old high school insecurities rearing their ugly heads at 42! Sheesh!)

Hey, watch it. Don't describe yourself as "old" and then go on to say that your years on the planet are fewer than mine!

Did I say that??!! :confused3 Clue me in here, Pal. I did say I was old- or rather feeling like being old enough to be having a 25th reunion this summer (which I can't go to) is uncomfortable. :rotfl2: But the only time I feel like dying is right around run #6.

Geez - you guys were chatty last night! Apparently, I need to stay up until 2am chatting with you guys instead of going to bed at 10:30 mad at my DH.

Glenn beat me to the punch - Pampered Chef has a really nice apple corer/slicer!

Love those drink recipes! :thumbsup2 A regular gin martini is gross IMO but flavored martinis or vodka ones are good. A chocolate martini is fabulous if made right! Back in my young party days I used to drink LIIT all of the time - I have no idea how I did it! Now, if I drank one, I would probably be passed out on the floor!

I am crossing my fingers for you that the rumors are true!

BTW - I think you look great in your before shot!

Sorry, but you hit a pet-peeve of mine. This expression has gotten convoluted over the years and doesn't make sense anymore. It's actually supposed to be "the proof of the pudding is in the eating", which makes a lot of sense, at least to me. (Sorry to be so nit-picky, but I know what a perfectionist you are with your strudel spelling and all.)

Are you sure that's not an "after" picture? Maybe you're huffing and puffing during your run, but I don't see this flab you're always talking about.

Ok, you are right.... I vaguely remember that, and now I'll have to go to a website for looking up idioms and their origins to see where it came from. See? You never know WHERE this thread is going to go.

Anyway, it sounds like a passage of the Book that's always convoluted and really bugs me when quoted out of context. "Where 2 or 3 are gathered, there I will be..." It's context is church discipline, not just general gatherings. Not to start a big debate, but kinda the same with your peeve with the other.

So, to bring this full circle: The proof of my running will be in the breathing of the air. Which I hope will get easier!! Right now, I just don't see the light at the end of the 25 minute run tunnel. Not. even. close.

And for the record... you will NEVER see me in shorts. EVER. ;)

Ok, you are being very sweet, but trust me when I tell you that cellulite has won the war on the thighs. I'd add a smilie, but it's not funny.

I just sent Mikki to the store for fizzy water and OJ. Getting ready to try a something yummy. Yeah, there was a day, when I had FiPs to Hell, and loving every minute, and could pack a few too many too. Some things have to be learned the hard way. :sad2:
