An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

I'd love to meet up for sushi and hanging out at the Poly!!!! I dearly hope that I can keep my original plans.

You're right about the long night's wait for the opening of the clinic. The other thing that happens is that people are worried about being late to work (especially these days) so they want to get in early.

Well, then, let's see how our plans pan out and keep it as a "let's really, really try" thing. :goodvibes

I hadn't thought of the being-late-for-work motivation. I can totally see that!

I notice you do the same thing when shoes and bags come up. Which is just fine. I try to (generally ) steer clear of that too. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I suppose when we start a-namin' all's good- but when a guy might chime in, it might be construed as chauvenistic. :confused3

When the shoes & bags talk comes up I just go take a nap.... :rotfl:

I'l give you one then I'm done.... Tig 'Ol Bitties

See bet you are glad I never get into these conversations! :lmao:

Normally when I see on someone's thread, "I just spit my coffee", I roll my eyes and get a little jaded. But, that is the first and only time I have ever, for REALS, just spit coffee. I am laughing OUT. LOUD. cuz that is just TOO FUNNY!!!!

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

You may now exit, confident you've completed a job well done!

Funny, I"ve never given a name other than "these" or the one that was *****d out by the Board.

I'd leave ya with more but I have to hit the hay.

I have cakes, BBB, & MJ to dream about. ;)

Leisa, just read your new post on your blog, I can't believe the amount of craziness!!! :headache: Why did you all have to go on the train to begin with? And I'm seeing things right, your flying out the entire trip back home?

We are so blessed to be here in America, I sometimes wonder why God placed me here rather than some third world country? (not that I'm looking the gift in the mouth) Why was I so blessed to be placed in a country where we don't have to fight for everything we have the way others do? I think about this blessing often.
It must be weird to come back to the states after being over there, is it a hard adjustment? Probably the dumbest question I could ask, huh?

How about the kids, do they find it's hard to adjust to their new surroundings in the states? I know a couple were born there, so it's probably going to be the hardest on them, or then again maybe not since they are pretty young.
I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm curious as to how you deal with all the change that's about to come your way coming back here?
:confused3

Camille~

Those are some very complex and hard questions. We have learned a lot living here--especially about being grateful for small things. Things like being back where there are sidewalks, and having our meat being cut with a clean saw and not hacked up with a dirty axe on a wooden chopping block that gets salt put on it each evening to "clean" it; knowing our hostess has used hot water and dish soap to wash her hands and cooking utensils when we ea, having consistent running water; and no one from the migration police sitting outside our house pretending to read a paper in his car.

However, hard these things are, we are going to miss that you can show up unannounced at any time to have a cup of tea with a friend; that there are people who take their faith very seriously (enough to receive threats from their own family members of their legs being broken for their belief), and that I can send my kids out to play without any fear whatsoever of being kidnapped or molested.

Typically, folks who've lived overseas in such settings as ours come back with a lot of adjustment to do. It is hard to not be cynical about the amount of waste of products- especially food. We also have a hard time with people being stressed out over the seemingly littlest things. We see people struggling to get meat even once a week and most wouldn't dream of putting Pampers on thier kids- yet, it's a major deal in the West if the cable isn't working for the big game. :confused3

Don't get me wrong. It doesn't usually take long to reassimilate into American culture, but I think we will always be different because of our time here.

My youngest really only know this place as their home, and don't particularly want to return. I think, had we not decided to move into Dad's house on the river, it would have been even harder to help them accept moving back. The oldest kids, especially Andrew, my oldest, never really fit in here, and wants to go back.

We've taken many train trips here- all have been bad, except the last one. We tried a new train which is new and clean. They actually use a vacuum cleaner on the carpets and hose the entire bathroom down more frequently.

The capital city is over 800 miles from our city, and flying with 6 or 7 people is very expensive, whereas the train is next to nothing. HA! A classic case of "you get what you pay for".

I am often amazed about that, too. Also that I was born in the time I was born in. I was at an exhibition about the rebuilding of Nuremberg (my home town here in Germany) which was the second most destroyed city in Germany after WWII. 95% of the medieval city center were destroyed in February 1945. That really (once again) made me realize how blessed I am that I did not live in Europe in the middle of the last century.

Liesa, thanks for the interesting post! I am sure that the experience you had will always be part of you and your family in a good way. While it is easy to get used to all kind of modern comforts, I am sure you will never be as dependent on them as so many others. :goodvibes

I am glad to hear that your trip home will not include a train, even though this new train sounds like an improvement! Make sure to wave to me from the plabe from city to Frankfurt - you are bound to pass over Germany, maybe even Nuremberg (if I got your -stan right)! :goodvibes

I have no idea where you guys are getting Sept. hours from!! I went to WDW site and I could only find August. :confused3

I'm off to the airport to drop off our guest, then it's out to dinner with DH- first time in weeks! So, I won't be on again til tomorrow! Meantime, post a link to those hours. ;)

You can call me. I am up.

When you see the first day on Sept, just click that day and then click NEXT to see each of the next ones.

:goodvibes

Each park is separate...

THe big news is that MNSSHP is on Wed the 8th. Same as AK EMH. :(

I can only get the next ten days, let alone any thing beyond that. I"m not sure what I'm doing wrong! :confused3 It says it's loaded, but with errors on the page??

Can someone send a link??

Carissa-----

"My Ladies"

How about what Song of Solomon calls them? "Twin fawns of a gazelle"

"Movers and Shakers"

"My apples"

I'm sure whatever Cherie can come up with will be ever-so-much better...

I don't know Lisa. I like to think they're bigger than apples. :rolleyes1

If memory serves we had a discussion about concrete undergarments for said ladies....

:rolleyes1

oh wait, those were my ladies....

:rotfl2:

Yes, we did have that discussion! Which is why we clearly need an alternate name because "my ladies" will definitely come up when discussing gear to bring for the half-marathon. :rolleyes1 However, I guess we managed to get through that topic last time without getting bleeped.

weeellllll........

Bertha and Betsy
cinnedomes .....there used to be a movie theater called the Cinnedome...it had 2 domes that resembled ...

jigglers....
flour sacks...

There ya go, Carissa!! You've got quite an arsenal now. I notice none of the guys chimed in on this one... But I"m sure they have a few they could throw in too.

When the shoes & bags talk comes up I just go take a nap.... :rotfl:

I'l give you one then I'm done.... Tig 'Ol Bitties

I had no idea you were a man! Hi Tim  I'm still trying to figure Tig 'Ol Bitties out.

"The Girls" They'll forever be called the girls, at least mine. Ta-Ta's! That is another good one! :thumbsup2

Wow, such a treat to wake up to this morning! Thank you all for your suggestions. I wonder how many male readers I'd bring in if I used the title, "Running and My Ladies - Help!"

You are a brave man!

I had no idea you were a man! Hi Tim  I'm still trying to figure Tig 'Ol Bitties out.

Um, just switch the first letters around. ;)

Thanks Glenn. I was just about to post that I figured it out. My brain is not working well these days. I already embarrassed myself over on Colt's TR. :sad2:

I saw. I figured it was a little embarrassing, so I didn't want to say anything. It was cute -- "Just 'Cause" vs. "Just Cause".

I plan on only referring to him as "Colt Blackwood", the full name, because it's such a great name.

I remember when touring Olde Town Frankfurt that most of it was bombed as well, but that the cathedral had been spared. Yes, to have been there in that time would have been awful at the very least. Once more a time to count our blessings.

Yeah, we can do a fair many things now- fixing cars, building cisterns, cooking totally from scratch- lots of skills. And you're so right, it'll always be a part of who we are.

I"ll make sure to wave! Actually, we are thinking we may spend a night in Germany so we can see Neuschwanstein Castle. We've wanted to see every time, but it just hasn't ever worked out. Wanna play tour guide for a day??:confused3 Then I could get 3 DISMeets before me trip. Imagine! Nashville AND DC AND Germany!!!

I don't know Lisa. I like to think they're bigger than apples. :rolleyes1

HA!! We're not talking melons are we?? :lmao::lmao:

Yeah, Tim's a great guy on here- always up for some good fun! :cool1:

Sounds like a winning title to me! You'd totally hork a bunch of readers with that one!

Oh there are quite a few, but I don't think it'd be a good idea.

I thought not! But Tim's was pretty funny!! :rotfl2:

Hope you and your 'girls' are having a great day!!

Yea... I am just another guy.

Sorry.:sad1:

It's 3 AM, and your light's STILL ON!! :lmao:
Weird!!!! I was in la-la land.

I never sign out... but I did shut down my computer.:confused3

I had no idea you were a man! Hi Tim  I'm still trying to figure Tig 'Ol Bitties out.

Hallo!
