Sayonara, Japan- Al Salaam Alaikum, Morocco!!!

Let me walk within your cool, earthen walls, refresh my weary feet as I sit by your fountains, and inspire my sense of adventure as I wander among your winding paths discovering the mysteries that your ancient bazaars and souks have to offer!!

Thinking ahead to what mysterious and exotic treasures I might find to remind me of my visit to the caravan serai, I am wondering if a little set of brass finger cymbols might be just the thing. Or maybe a little leather coaster?? Or a small traditional tea cup?

Having recently visited Dubai, we have little brass genie lamps, and sequined shoes. And we have more than our fair share of camels like this one:

Well, we don't HAVE any like this, but we see them a lot!

In fact, coming home from the airport when dropping our guest off yesterday, we saw a huge herd of them grazing on the airport property. Wanna come visit? It's quite exotic here!

Of course, we ladies will model the traditional red fez hats or something that a belly dancer might wear, but the price may be more in our budget going with just a photo of that.

What else have you seen in Morocco that is under $5?? Bought anything recently in the Moroccan Pavilion that takes your imagination right to the busy hussle of a North African souk??

6 months is a lot to work with !! Let's keep trying! I think there's some fun to be had. :rotfl:

There really are many possibilities to do some sightseeing depending on what you would want to see.

Köln isn't that far, at least not by highspeed train: less than one hour since the train travels at 300 km/h. The regional train would be much cheaper, but that would take 3 hours. But it would also travel along the much more scenic route along the Rhine river.

Heidelberg (which has a castle as well as many other places) is 2 hours by regional train.

I will try to come up with some more ideas of thing to do within a 24 hour stopover (I guess that's what it would be, wouldn't it?).

I think it's very exciting to maybe meet you and your family! Neuschwanstein would be a bit crazy, but also quite an event. :thumbsup2

Oh and on the topic of your PTR: the only thing I remember were those skewers that were about a yard long... I can't imagine you would be interested in those? :confused3

Hmmmm..... well come to think of it, this might be a possibility. The Tuesday Aug 31st might be better as I could ask for the day off. I don't normally work Mondays so I could start driving that day. If we could even do it on August 30th, that would be the best for me. I'll ask my sister to come along too. I'm sure she'd like to meet more Disney fanatics! If not her, than maybe I can twist my mom's arm. It'd be a great road trip as I've never been to D.C. Put me down as a "maybe" for now :thumbsup2

These are all super ideas!! My DH just agreed that we will for sure be staying the 24 hours in Germany- wherever that may end up being. I will make our reservations on Monday, and we'll go from there. Depending on where we'll go touring, I'll find a hotel. Whether that ends up being in Frankfurt near the airport of in ??? I don't know yet. I love to see how plans unfold!! And meeing new friends is always a double bonus!!!! I hope it works out!! What a start to my Disney trip THAT would be!!! :yay::thumbsup2:woohoo:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: How awesome it would be to meet you and Bubba! OR your mom, OR all 3 of you, for that matter! :thumbsup2 The more the merrier, I think, with this kind of meet!! I'm not sure I can swing the 30th, and my plans aren't firm yet, but I'm thinking that will be my first day with my sister. I don't want to bag out on her right away. I'd like to invite her to whatever we all end up doing/going, but really am not sure what she'll say. :confused3

OK, you're officially down for a maybe. Which is 100% better than NO. ;)

Well either way, I've already requested the days off  I've asked for Aug 30-Sep 1st off. I'll have to take 3 days off since it's a solid 9.5 hour drive from my house! This is exciting! It would be awesome to meet everyone :goodvibes

All I know is I love walking into the shop in Morocco! So colorful. I'm sure I could find so many things to purchase from there. Not much help am I? :rotfl:

We had lots of camels in Alice Springs, Australia. They aren't native to Australia of course, but now there are so many that roam wild in the Outback. Chuck and I did a "Take a Camel to Dinner" thing that was really cool. Did a camel ride and then had a chef made us a private dinner. It wasn't supposed to be private, but no one else was there that night. ;)

not a clue about the shop but I did love my lunch there!

You can't really take schwarma home though....

popcorn::Okay I am FINALLY current on ALL the post I missed for the last fews months while my life was crazy.popcorn::

IT was WONDERFUL meeting Mary(Maroo) in real life with Tinytreasures at the world GOTTA LOVE ME SOME SEASONS at Epcot not to MENTION my HUBBY is STILL :worship: in her debt for the wonderful service she did us.
:cloud9::hug::woohoo:

Liesa,
I am so sorry to hear of the unexpected passing of your MIL :(
However I am very excited for your family to be coming back into the states.

Although I was in dismay to realize that although you extended us the invite to join the trip we had the wrong dates down so don't know if we will be able to meet up after all as we had down the 13-24 as you were going to be at the World. However hubby saids we will try to make it down a couple of days earlier since neither he nor our 9 year old son REALLY want to do the High Tea with me and if I am not able to join your party for that they will have too. :rolleyes1Plus since we haven't made our flight or WDW revs we can do that.
Expectally SINCE I have that quilt material for you :rolleyes1 that I never got mailed to you due to lives craziness real sorry about that :(

Tell your SON AWESOME job on the SATs and getting in ROTC as a full ride that is so great to hear.

Bekka can come and live with us for a while if she wants to visit the Midwest I mean Kansas is dap smack in the middle of everywhere LOL.
:rotfl:

Currently our son is in an arm immozer for leaning back again the rail of his playgroup equipement and missing and falling through the firemen pole hole. :rolleyes1 since he broke his arm right below his shoulder. His school didn't call us cause they didn't think he was really hurt since he baring cried which for those who don't know my son has Aspergers and although his emotical pain response are off the wall his physical ones aren't and with a natural high pain torance to begin with yea we are NOT happy with his school.

My job has been flapping back and forth about if I will have one and what shift and what I will be doing since we came back from WDW. :scared1:

We are also currently house hunting so that too plays into if we will be able to get to the world. But we have already started our Disney fund (separate from the house and saving fund of course) and in fact I happen to catch a winning bet on ebay and got 200 pins for $149 which since I paid $250 last year for 210 am very happy about.

Also strange enough before I started reading your PTR again we were/are talking about staying at PORFQ verse POP due to the fact that POP was so wired all the time it keep our son hoping non stop which really didn't work good :headache:.

Anyway just wanted to fill you in and to let you know that am both following and expecting to meet up with you guys in the world and way too bad I missed the AR game though I did play along as I read it got 4 out of them so don't think that is bad and can't wait for the next game to be played. Also let me know what TOP still needs in the way of travelling clothes cause my son keep taking the computer away between 40-50 post to read over them and kept losing my spot so I have no idea if you have gotten all 7 of his/her outfits or it there are any left to be made. :woohoo:

I'm going to admit I've been skimming here in an effort to catch up. I notice that you are globe trotting and visiting almost everyone! :thumbsup2 Well, might I put in my bid for a stop in Southern Oregon on your way to Northern Oregon? :goodvibes I know it's not on the way - it isn't on the way to anyplace - just thought it was a fun idea! ;)

I am often amazed about that, too. Also that I was born in the time I was born in. I was at an exhibition about the rebuilding of Nuremberg (my home town here in Germany) which was the second most destroyed city in Germany after WWII. 95% of the medieval city center were destroyed in February 1945. That really (once again) made me realize how blessed I am that I did not live in Europe in the middle of the last century.

Liesa, thanks for the interesting post! I am sure that the experience you had will always be part of you and your family in a good way. While it is easy to get used to all kind of modern comforts, I am sure you will never be as dependent on them as so many others. :goodvibes

I know just what you mean, I'm so greatful. I too have thought about the time I was born, I think about living through some of the things my grandparents or great grandparents went through and thought there would be no way in the world I would have been able to live through those things without falling apart. I guess that's why God placed me in the place and time He did. :worship:

Leisa, I know I asked some hard questions, I can't imagine living in the things you've lived in and not being changed for ever by what you've endured. I would think it would be pretty tough no matter who's coming through it, hopefully the babies will come through this with an easier transition than than they think, it's always hard to make changes your not use to. I remember coming to S.A., here in Texas and thinking there would be no way I would ever like living there, and after a while I loved it, thought the same moving here in the Austin area and then fell head over heels for this area, even over S.A.
I know it's not the same thing, and I realize your going back to a place you love over a place you would probably rather do with out, but change is change. I've never made that big of a drastic change in my life, I admire your strength, and I admire your dedication to the work of The Kingdom.
I can't say I would be able to do the same, it's hard to admit that, but at the same time I guess God made us all to be and do different things for His Kingdom, and maybe me traveling to remote places isn't one of them.

Thanks Glenn. I was just about to post that I figured it out. My brain is not working well these days. I already embarrassed myself over on Colt's TR. :sad2:
That's OK, I did the same thing. My dh was military too. I didn't really start paying attention to what was happening in the world until about 11 years ago. I guess better late than never, right?!?

Hope you and your 'girls' are having a great day!!

Yea... I am just another guy.

Sorry.:sad1

No need to be sorry, I was just giving you hard time. :thumbsup2 Your a pretty good guy Tim, you love your baby and you love your wife, those things are plain to see, that in my book makes a good man out of a guy any day.

That's a good one too! I certainly felt that way when nursing each of the 5! One til she was 2 and 1/2~ :scared1:

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

This is far better than the woman who nursed her child walking and yes I said walking through the Commissary while the child was tall enough and old enough to walk, yes I said walk.... under her shirt and nurse as she shopped. Needless to say, someone like the Commanders wife had to have a talk with her about this. :faint: COULD YOU IMAGINE!!??!!
COULD YOU IMAGINE HAVING TO BE THE ONE TO TALK WITH HER?!?!

:rotfl:

Mnnn hummus, I'd love some of that right now, I'm hungry!

with some pita flatbread.:thumbsup2

Mmmmmm, my favorite foreign food to eat. Med. food is by far the most fun to eat besides eating with chop sticks, also another fav. of mine. :lovestruc
