An indecisive person needs advice.

I'm currently trying to plan a Disney trip. Initially I had planned 4 days at Disneyland, but now with a little bit of working I can afford to either do 6 days at Disneyland or 9 days at Disney World. I need everyone's opinion on what I should do? We've been to Disney World twice, but have never dealt with the fastpass+ system. It'll be me, my wife, and two teenagers. Any advice for pros and cons would be great. Thanks in advance

Well, you can only get 5 day tickets to Disneyland, unless you want to splurge on season passes. So you'd need to find something else to do for a day. Maybe Universal?

9 days in Orlando would be a nice stay with plenty of time to tour the parks at a relaxed pace, enjoy your resort, and maybe do a few non park activities.

That's a tough one. I've been to both parks this year. 8 days at WDW (onsite) and 4 days at DLR (offsite). I have to say that DLR came out WAY on top, and FP- was one of the reasons why. Since it had been several years since my last trip, I really enjoyed seeing new night time shows, parades, and all of the attractions that WDW doesnt have, or doesn't do as well. The new California Adventure and Carsland really blew us away. And even though it was hot, we didn't have to deal with the Florida humidity and rain.

Have you been to Disneyland? Can you give us an idea of when you're thinking of doing the trip (this fall, next spring, next winter)? Is there any interest in doing "other than Disney" on either coast?

I can't speak on DL, as I have only been there once and it was many years ago for a day trip. But, FP+ really isn't that bad, we (a group of adults) actually really love it because we can move and adjust things as we go throughout the day. You can also continue to grab more fast passes from kiosks after the original 3 have been used. 9 days at Disney World would give you enough time to do a lot and you could fit the water parks in, too.

We've never been to Disneyland. As far as a range of times. We are going to go in March or sometime between May and August. Unfortunately I know these are busy times, but my kids are too old to miss school. Also we're not doing anything other than Disney.

I don't think I could spend 6 days at DL/CA in one trip - it's just not that big a place. I'd definitely suggest the 9 days at WDW.

If only for the benefit of more time, 9 days at WDW. I know we'll have to get to DL sometime though with all I've heard and seen about it being better

If you have never been to DLR before I might tend to lean that way especially with all the new things they have recently changed/added.

But like the OP mentioned the maximum ticket you can get now at DLR is a 5 day pass.

Whichever way you decide to go will be awesome...... Have fun!!

I've been to both. This would be an easy choice for me. Six days at DL is too much. It's not that big. I'd opt for nine days at WDW.

More days has my vote. More Parks to keep teens busy, possibly even go to Universal if its within budget.

If you found other things to do, then I'd say knock out the DL experience and at least try it once (since your family has already done WDW). Like previously mentioned, the length is too long for those parks unless you found outside fillers.

If not in the mood to do all that planning, then heck yea do 9 days in WDW, wouldn't have to tell me twice!!

Have you dealt with the FastPass system of any kind? If so, the Plus feature isn't any different. The "restriction" is that you can only reserve up to three FastPasses 60 days (if staying onsite) or 30 days (any others) in advance in one park. So, you would need to plan your days and which park you will be in for the majority of that day. You can plan on getting FastPasses for the major attractions right at your 60 or 30 days and then fill in the rest later. Also know that after those three FastPasses have either been used or expired, you can go to a kiosk in the park (or a second park) and get other FastPasses one at a time.

If you can rent a car while in DL, then go. Especially if you have never been to southern California before. Decide how many days you'll spend at DL. If it's only 3 or 4, then use another in the Anaheim area and the 6th should be a day trip to San Diego. We liked SD better than the LA area. You can easily drive down and explore for a day, or make it a point to do Sea World, the SD Zoo, the Safari Park or any number of places. You could also fly into LA and out of SD, or spend a couple nights in SD if you have the time. There's lots to do in LA and SD that would entertain the teenagers apart from DL. Personally, I think 4 days is a good amount of DL time IF you are big Disney fans and want to really explore both parks.

Having been to WDW three times in the last year and DL once, I would vote DL. You get more bang for your buck in the parks out West right now. The new night time shows are spectacular. The parks are in great shape because of the 60th anniversary celebration and we got lots done in just a few days out there.

I'm going to vote for DLR. We are a WDW family, but took the trip out west last year and LOVED it. Everyone that can, needs to do it at least once. We had the military 3-day pass, and while we did a lot, we didn't do it all. The 5-day ticket would give you the time you need to take it all in. Park hopping between the two is wonderful and makes it feel like one huge park. I think I would break up the park days with either a day at your hotel pool or a day at the beach. If you're not driving, just rent a car for that one day (perhaps a convertible?!) and head over to Hwy 1 and enjoy the day.

Drop down to the Disneyland Forums on the DIS home page and read Hydroguy's tips. That will give you a better idea of when to go, and get you started on planning. It takes so much less planning, but a little does go a long way.

We stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn. It is literally across the street from the Disney entrance. We didn't walk any further than we do from the bus stop at MK at WDW. Great place with a decent breakfast included!
