An Inconvenient Truth...

:rotfl: :rotfl2: What a silly post even for you. Again, Gore did win. He had the most votes in Florida and the most votes in the rest of the country. I know that math may be beyond you but let make it simple. Vice President Gore had MORE votes in both the popular vote and more votes in Florida than bush. Five republican traitors on the Supreme Court stopped the recount and selected bush. bush lost the election and Vice President Gore won the election. If you need me to break it down in even more basic terms, I will be glad to do so.

We can certainly respect the right you have to an opinion. However, there are many other people that feel very differently than you do. Like you, doctor, they have, and are entitled to their own opinions and they should never be told that they are 'stupid', 'idiots' or demeaned in any way just because their opinions differ. Issues are always interesting to debate, but name calling only tends to diminish the position of the name caller.

Actually, Doctor, those facts did not come from Drudge. They came from the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, .
Here are some facts on this so called policy for research http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dave-johnson-and-james-boyce/a-far-too-convenient-mea_b_42171.html
Tennessee Center's President Drew Johnson comes straight out of the right's network, coming from Exxon-funded American Enterprise Institute and the right-wing-funded National Taxpayers Foundation.

They are part of the right's State Policy Network. According to PFAW,
"SPN is a national network of state-based right-wing organizations in 37 states as well as prominent nationwide right-wing organizations. Through its network SPN advances the public policy ideas of the expansive right-wing political movement on the state and local level."
As of Feb. 16, the Tennessee tax dept. considers them "not a legitimate organization" because of their misrepresenting themselves involving questions about the group's opposition to a state crackdown on drug dealers.

For the life of me, I can't understand how you get away with the insults to other members here on these boards that don't share your views. Time and time again you insult people, call their intelligence into question, and you generally treat them like they're dog crap on the bottom of your shoe. I don't understand how you're allowed to do this without any penalty. Most of us here all seem to be able to get along with each other and play nice, except for you. I can't even begin to fathom the depths of your arrogance and contempt for others who don't share your views and thoughts. You have been insulting to many others, including me for a long time now and I just don't get it. I enjoy reading other members points of view, as long as it doesn't get nasty or full of hate. Why do this? It takes any statement or argument you make and cheapens it where no one can take you seriously.

I know I'll be ignored and I expect that, but it still doesn't make me understand why you do the things you do.:confused3

Well, he is on about his 6th username :rolleyes1

Is it really going to kill any one to change a few light bulbs and unplug a few unused appliances, lower your thermostat by a couple of degrees etc. My god why does everything have to come down to nasty politics. Who cares who the messenger is. That is what is wrong with todays political climate, it is all about divide and conquering the people. Even if AL Gore is wrong, all you will end up with is a lower energy bill and a cleaner environment.

I think generally most people both conservative and liberal have a problem with someone telling you you shouldn't smoke, drink, gamble whatever it is, when they have a sixpack of bud, carton of Luckys under their arm, on their way to the casino.

I think he uses carbon offsets, so it's ok?

Kill me? No. A major PITA? Yes.

If you enjoy being in flourescent light all the time, by all means, go for it. I don't.

If you enjoy having to plug something in every time you want to use it and then unplugging it when you're done, go for it. I don't.

If you enjoy looking at those snake-like CFLs poking out of all of your decorative lighting, go for. I don't.

If you enjoy sitting around in a cold room (or hot room, depending on the season), go for it. I don't.

By all means, do whatever you want to do - go all CFL, all the time, freeze your butt off in the winter, give yourself heatstroke in the summer, shock yourself by forgetting to dry your hands before you go to plug in that microwave, and buy carbon offsets until you're in hock. That's totally, 100% your business and your right to do. Just don't tell me that I have to do it.

Bucknaked, You are being a bit dramatic. I see it is inconvenient for you.

BTW I have replaced all of my light bulbs to compact florescent, my house is at 65 degrees, always, and I unplug my appliances not because Al Gore told me to but for my children. This is not about politics it is about caring about my children and grand-children's future.

Please don't assume that because I'm not buying into Al Gore's gloom and doom scenario that I don't care about the future of my children and (future) grandchildren, because you'd be wrong.

I think it is a lot more than Al Gore saying this but I guess it is OK because there are a few sidelined scientists who are paid by lobby groups who disagree or failing that as I think the person telling me is a Hypocrite I will not listen even if it the truth.

So do you have to do anything to help the future of your children and grandchildren?

I do believe that there is global warming, I'm just not convinced that there is adequate evidence that it is man-made, especially seeing as this isn't the first time it's happened. I also don't believe that Gore's "We only have 10 years to fix it" mantra is anything more than hysteria. YMMV.

So do you have to do anything to help the future of your children and grandchildren?

Yes, I'm raising them to become responsible adults that don't buy into every brand of hysteria that comes down the pike. :)

So if a person is telling you the truth, them being a hypocrite is no problem. Fair enough. I agree. But if a person is telling you the truth, then who they are getting "paid" by should also be no problem.

There seems to be more than enough "drama" to go around.........

Please do. Last time I checked, it was the electoral votes that count, not the popular vote. So, please explain how Al Gore had more electoral votes, yet he lost the election.

Stop the spin. Embrace the facts.

I didn't assume anything. I think it is you that is assuming I buy Al Gore's scenario. I am just willing to sacrifice a little just in case he is right. I feel I have nothing to lose and in the end I will have a lower energy bill and cleaner environment as stated above.

If they were telling the truth, I would have no problem in believing them. But just because they are disenting voice does not make them right. There is concensus contained in a UN report recently which I suppose is just 'a bit off'.

Just an FYI. They now have enclosed bulbs that look pretty much like a typical light bulb - just for you're decorative lighting!

Incidently, you are absolutely right, Global Warming has occured before, repeatedly in fact. What is different this time is the severity of this warming. It is considerably higher then it has ever been. In fact, Gore addresses this very issue in his film. He uses a chart that diagrams the warming trends, past and present. It's very disturbing to see the how much higher this one is in comparison to previous.
