An amazing magic moment!

This was our first "real" trip to Disney (others were just a day at one park...never staying overnight...never experiencing the magic) and I now know what these "magic moments" are that all of you have been talking about. We had several magic moments on our trip, but this one takes the cake...

Adorned in her brand new Cinderella dress that my DD4 had just received for her birthday (a $17 Walmart dress), we finished our breakfast with Cinderella and headed over to my DD's favorite ride, Peter Pan's Flight. While exiting the moving walkway, my daughter stooped down to retrieve the Pal Mickey my DH had dropped, when the back of her dress got caught and began to pull her down. My DH immediately ripped her dress from the ramp and the CM's instantly stopped the ride. (If any of you were stuck on this ride for about 10 minutes on the morning of May 29, 2005, around 9:15am, I am truly sorry!) :guilty: Anyway, feeling horrible that we had "broken" the ride, we were expecting evil glances and perhaps a speech on not wearing princess dresses on the rides! Our DD was sobbing and heartbroken over the shred of a dress she was now wearing. (She looked like the real Cinderella after the step-sisters demolish the gown the mice sew for her!) Imagine our surprise and delight when a CM brings her a new ($65!) Cinderella gown straight from "Tinkerbell's Treasures" in just her size! (That dress was so much nicer than the Walmart one!) We could NOT believe that Disney would do this! We felt like WE should be apologizing to THEM!! Disney made my DD a true princess that day and my DH and me believers in real fairies. :lovestruc

WOW - absolutely fantastic! You know, that is probably the best thing I have read about Disney in months! Thank you for sharing!

That's wonderful! I love how the CMs can take a scary or disappointing event, sprinkle pixie dust on it, and turn it into something magical!

Wow - that was wonderful - gave me the chills (good chills!!)

What a wonderful story! I agree, there seem to be so many disappointing stories on the DIS lately... it's so nice to hear a magical one!

How wonderful!! Thanks for sharing!!

I was so impressed with almost every CM we came across at WDW. Obviously there are a few "bad eggs", but most of them really seemed to "get it" when it came to the little ones. My DD was in awe at the park and the CM's always seemed to play it up for her.

How cool!!!If I were there waiting in line I'd be more concerned with your DD being ok then my wait time.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am so glad that your DD was not hurt and that the CM did such a wonderful thing for her.

That is wonderful - it is nice to hear about the great CM's. I feel like all we ever hear are the mean or grumpy ones.

Was your daughter SO excited?????

Suzanne,

Oh yes...she was just beside herself! Especially after the CM told her that this new dress was the same one that Cinderella wore for her coronation! And it was so funny...we must have ridden Peter Pan another 6 or 7 times throughout the rest of our stay and everytime we'd exit the ride, DD would say, "My dress didn't get caught this time!" (Could be because she was holding up the skirt so high it was almost over her head! :rotfl: )

And, BTW, I was so overwhelmed and in such disbelief during the whole incident I didn't even LOOK to see the CM's name! I did write a letter to guest relations praising them for such a wonderful job, and I gave them the exact time and date this occured. I imagine they have a record of who was working at that given time and to give kudos to them. :goodvibes

That is just so wonderful!! My heart breaks for your daughter when I picture her after the dress ripped and I am so very happy that is was resolved so well!

The very very very best magic moments are the ones like yours...where something wonderful happens not because you were expecting it, but because you weren't. Thank you for sharing!!

To me this is what Disney is all about! Your poor DD's dress ripping like that could have ruined the trip for the whole family but Disney magic happened. I'm glad your DD wasn't hurt and so happy your had wonderful CM there.

Now that's the biggest pick me up I've read today!!

We leave tomorrow and now I'm super pumped!

Awesome!!

That is why I love WDW... right there....

My DW and DD are on their 4th trip in 9 months....

Our Family trip in Sept will be my 4th in a year...

:sunny:
