An almost-girly trip ~ February 2009 TR!

Don't bother with the brownies until you can taste them. They did me no good at all. Drew, on the other hand, enjoyed them immensely.

So, if you have a hungry brownie eater who will devour 6/8ths of the pan alone (I ate one and Trent ate one - Drew and his friend, Neil, had the rest), then go for it. Otherwise, wait a few days until you can enjoy them. I'm going to make some again next weekend when Jill is here for our Christmas stuff. By then, the taste buds should be back to normal.

As for the brownies, they looked delicious. They just tasted kind of like the box they came in. ;)

We do the Nyquil, too, but instead of choking down the syrup, we do the caplets. It really does help a person sleep.

P.S. I put a strand of lights in each of the boys' windows while they weren't at home. They rolled their eyes, but they've been okay with it. I guess they figure they shouldn't make any of Santa's helpers angry so close to Christmas.

I could kind of taste them! It seems that my sense of taste is the worst in the morning, and then after a couple of hours, it starts to return. Half the pan is already gone, and that's pretty amazing, considering that Michael is normally the one to assist in eating all the good stuff, and he's been at work since before I made them.

:rotfl: Sneaky you, putting lights in their rooms! That's hilarious. That reminds me that I told Kailyn and my mother about a plan that I had--when I found the reindeer antlers and nose, I was going to put them on my dad's "super manly Jeep" just to see his reaction. I didn't end up doing it, because he has some giant winch (I think it's a winch--he tells me all about it but I can't remember what's what) on the front, where the nose would go. And I hadn't been in there recently enough to tell him that I thought I had left something in there, and then roll down the windows and affix the antlers.

When I was typing that, he actually came into my room to tell me that he's going to put Christmas lights in his Jeep, around the roll bars, for when we go out on Christmas eve "busting Christmas carols" and giving out candy canes. I asked him if pretty twinkling lights would affect the manliness of it, but he's sure that it won't. Ooookay. :)

Here are some of my pictures from the TSO concert. Apparently I don't have the pictures of them giving the donation, Charles does.

Where we parked. Charles was glad that I had taken a picture, because we had to pull out the camera to check.

n505059094_1043048_3456.jpg

We were SO excited to be in the second row--both kind of sick, but really excited. (and, I've had to wear my glasses for a while because my contacts have been bugging the crap out of me. I hope it gets better before our trip because I really like wearing sunglasses)

n505059094_1043049_3817.jpg

For one song, everyone was told to take out their cell phones and wave them around. Before, there were lighters, and now there are cell phones!

n505059094_1043053_5251.jpg

n505059094_1043054_5608.jpg

She was so cute and awesome. I wish I had gotten a picture of the adorable Asian violinist; he looked so happy and like he was having so much fun.

n505059094_1043050_4174.jpg

(These are obviously not TSO related, but I wanted to share them anyway)

Caesar has this fondness for laying in front of the vent whenever the heat is on. If he's in the living room, the moment he hears it come on, he trots right over and lays down, often with his paws pressed up against it. He was rescued in Puerto Rico so I can kind of see why he likes the warmth.

n505059094_1043031_2344.jpg

He also likes to belly-crawl under my bed. He crawls all the way under a LOT in the summer, but sometimes he just likes to go partially underneath, with his frog legs sticking out.

Now, some trip-related news:

Our countdown is in the 50's!
 :dancer: :dance3:

Today is 59 days, and I've been taking down the Mickey heads off my door each day. And the ticker in my signature is saying now that we have ONE month, so many weeks, and so many days! (I can't remember it all, the most important thing to me is the "one month" part.) The night of the TSO show was actually our two month mark, so being a true Disney dork, I was sitting there, enjoying the show, and having the occasional, "at this time in two months, I'll be in Disney World!" thought cross my mind. I can't believe that we're in the 50's now; I remember when we were in the 80's or 90's.

So, the time is flying by, Christmas is less than two weeks away, :faint: and I'm done with finals as of the 18th. One final is on Monday at 6:30 PM, and the other is from 8-10 AM on Thursday, then I don't go back until January 22nd. Yay!

Have a good night :teeth:

 , you made it safely to and back from the concert. I'm glad it was worth it. It looks very entertaining. :)

Your dog is too funny. Thank God for our animals, they keep a smile on our faces. ;)

Another sick Diser, we are falling down one at a time. Hope you are feeling better.

Good Luck on your exams. :shamrock:

:woohoo: for only a month and some to go! :woohoo:

Sounds like you had a great time at the concert! I was wondering if the weather would prevent you from going or not, I'm glad it didn't. :goodvibes

Yup, the driving pretty much sucked, but we made it!

I seriously can't imagine living without a dog. We did for a year or two after the second of our two dogs had to be put down, but I convinced my parents to get another. He'll be coming with me whenever I move out, because he's my baby. Do you have pets? I've been trying to tell Charles that he really wants to get a cat whenever we move out, but he hates them. I just like how they seem to have a special fondness for people that don't like them. We visited my aunt up in New Hampshire a couple of years ago, and her cat had eyes only for Charles. It didn't care much for the rest of us.

n505059094_11451_1204.jpg

You can see him trying really hard not to actually touch the cat. I think the only time he touched it was when he tried to lift it off his lap, but it meowed and dug its claws into his jeans, which freaked him out. Michael was sitting next to him, so he tried to tilt his body towards Mike and kind of slide the cat off, but the cat just meowed and dug its claws in again, so he gave up. :lmao: I felt so bad for Charles, but at the same time, it was so funny to see my 6'5" boyfriend sitting there with a tiny cat in his lap and getting so nervous whenever it kneaded his jeans with its claws.

Sounds like you had a great time at the concert! I was wondering if the weather would prevent you from going or not, I'm glad it didn't. :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm glad that it didn't deter me, either. :goodvibes I was really glad that the highways were pretty clear, and so were the streets. The only thing that really scared me was the severe lack of visibility, but luckily getting back to the highway was really easy.

Facebook and my laptop haven't been on speaking terms, so it wouldn't let me upload my pictures until today, and I just had my last final on Thursday, so I haven't been able to do any updates even though I have been absolutely dying to.

First off, I made my own autograph book for the trip, which was another idea that I learned courtesy of the DIS. The other idea was liberating (not stealing) Mickey head paint chips to make a countdown. Our countdown is now at 52 days, and in just under two weeks, we'll be able to say that NEXT MONTH we are going to Disney World.

Here are the pictures that Facebook finally let me upload--most of them are from the snowstorm that we got yesterday. But first, my autograph book:

n505059094_1065981_2015.jpg

This is the inside of the book. It was supposed to be the back, but I decided that I wanted the front more sturdy, so I just plastered that on.

The cover:

n505059094_1065982_2297.jpg

It didn't come out looking anything like I had imagined it would, but I was still really pleased with it. I was mad at myself for punching the "V" but I quickly decided that it wasn't worth it to redo the top part. I've really wanted to make my own autograph book for a while, but it was one of those things that I felt guilty doing when I knew I should be doing something for school. Now I have a little over a month off from school and I can do any silly little project I please. Kailyn really liked it, so if she wants me to make her one, I'm going to.

Now for the snow pictures. Mikey wanted to go out and play in it, so we did, even though it hadn't accumulated too much yet.

He was waiting for me to get ready, and harassing the dog,

n505059094_1065957_8100.jpg

while Caesar stared at him and wondered what he was doing.

n505059094_1065958_8349.jpg

Michael tried running and sliding, but it wasn't quite slippery enough for that.

n505059094_1065959_8581.jpg

We went across the street to our grandmother's to make sure that she wasn't doing anything like shoveling or chopping ice (she's 81 but doesn't look or act like it, and let it slip that she had been chopping ice a few days ago.) We didn't see Nana, but we saw Dad getting ready to go to Home Depot to get some part for the snowblower. He was really excited to finally have a chance to take his Jeep out in the snow.

n505059094_1065960_8804.jpg

Michael tried to chase him down.

n505059094_1065961_9030.jpg

Standing in the middle of my street, looking down:

n505059094_1065962_9262.jpg

Michael wanted to do a sequence of pictures:

n505059094_1065970_1156.jpg

n505059094_1065971_1397.jpg

He's clearly very shy and very reserved. ;)

Us:

n505059094_1065972_1642.jpg

We went back over to our grandmother's, where Dad was back and working on getting the snowblower out of hibernation. Michael decided to play "Secret Agent."

n505059094_1065973_1894.jpg

n505059094_1065974_2136.jpg

Finally, our tree, all decorated and pretty.

n505059094_1065975_2375.jpg

And Kailyn, too, who was in the kitchen, wrapping presents. She was getting annoyed with me standing around the corner asking if I could come in and hang up my wet stuff, or go through to get to the bathroom, because she had to keep on hiding my stuff under wrapping paper.

n505059094_1065976_2639.jpg

I wish I had some pictures or video of my dog in the snow, because he's really funny. He doesn't know what to make of it at first, since he hasn't seen it in months, but he LOVES it. He walks with his nose down to the ground at all times, snuffling and occasionally licking some up, then grabbing a mouthful, and then he starts doing something that I can only describe as a "hoppy prance." I need to get it on video because there's really no way to describe it, unless I'm standing in front of you, saying, "he goes like this" and then demonstrating it myself with my arms. :rotfl:

Have a good weekend!

Very cute autograph book, I should make one instead of buying one. :thumbsup2

I have two cats, a mommy and her son. Mimi & Timi. I :lovestruc them! Just put flea stuff on them, so they are a bit miffed at me.
My DMom had a dog last year but we had to put him down and havn't found the heart to replace him. My DD wants a dog but it's a big commitment and I think she is still too young to be that responsible.

Your boyfriend was a good sport to tollerate your aunt's cat. Cats can be so funny and seem to be attracted to people who don't like them as if to say "I'll change your mind". :rotfl2: My husband didn't like cats but I was able to sway him with Mimi when he got a rotweiller puppy. His name was Zeus, the best dog ever!

 No more classes for you

It's pretty cold here - high of 30 tomorrow, I think, but when I see your snow, I think we are very lucky. Travel is crazy enough right now with all the shoppers out, but it would be so much worse with snow and ice on the ground. I'm thankful we've not had all that.

Again I will say, I love that neighborhood!

It was really easy to make. The paper is heavy, sturdy paper that came in a book that had perforated edges, so I tore out the colors that I wanted and used the front and back covers as the cover, and put pretty paper over it. Then I used some stuff that I heard of, called Mod Podge, to plaster the front and make it shiny.

If you have any pics of your kitties, will you post them? I love seeing pictures of pets. I love rottweillers. Before we adopted Caesar, we knew that we were adopting another dog, and I was looking at a local rottie rescue. Then we went to a nearby shelter and that was that. :lovestruc

The driving and stuff was bad yesterday--my dad said that on the highway closest to us, there were only two lanes open, and both of them were only going about 20. Even the main roads were snowy and slippery, and per the governor's suggestion, a LOT of places were closed.

I took that picture with you in mind! I was snapping away, and when I was taking pictures down the street, I thought that you'd like it. :) I love my neighborhood, and the snow makes it soooo pretty. At least, it's pretty before it starts getting all dirty.

Thanks for the update. Looks like fun. My boys were out for the Friday storm here (only 10 inches) and want to go out today. We got another 2 feet yesterday and it is about 10 degrees, so I won't be letting them out - even if we could get out our door:lmao: It is fun though. We have a huge sled hill out back and they have a blast. Enough snow for santa to land his sled:santa: Have a good one!

I think we only ended up getting about 10 inches as well on Friday, and it snowed again yesterday, too. We were supposed to get snow/rain, but it only switched to rain and snow for a very short time, and the rest of it was snow. I can't believe that you got 2 more feet!!! It didn't accumulate to much here, maybe a few more inches.

10 degrees, my gosh. It's about 22 here, but with the wind it feels much colder. It's supposed to get up to the 40's over the next day or two, so on Christmas eve, we're supposed to have a "wintry mix to rain." :sad2:

I'm sure you're with me in being really excited for a winter reprieve in February--it is what's getting me through this crazy weather! Have a good one and have a wonderful holiday if I don't "talk" to you. :santa:

Just a short n' sweet update before I head out to work. Luckily I'm out at 3.

Our countdown is now at 48 days!! I also realized that when I go back to school on January 22, I'll have just under 3 weeks left before we leave. Going back to school after having a month off is hard, but at least I'll have that to look forward to.

Kailyn and I went to the craft store again last night, because she wanted me to make her an autograph book. I had her pick out ribbon and the papers for the cover. This time, I had a much better idea of what I was doing, so it was much easier and came out pretty well. Kailyn was very happy with it. The pictures are still on my camera, because I'm just going to upload those and any pictures from today all at once.

I have one picture, courtesy of Charles. He called me last night when I was making gingersnaps, and told me to check my MySpace comments. (I don't use MySpace often. I'm all about the Facebook.) He made this:

Mike-Snowball-Himself.gif

:lmao: He said that he saw the pics on Facebook and HAD to do it.

My game plan for today is: work 9-3, and then Charles is coming over to exchange gifts with my family. I already got my gift from him, but he has a present from me! I think--I hope--that he is still confused by my non-hints. He claims he knows what it is, but was asking me for hints so that he could work with something, and I said no, because he works TOO well with hints. So, every time he's asked me a question about it, I've answered with, "I can't tell you that" no matter what the question has been. It's driven him crazy. :rotfl:

After the gift-giving at my house, I'm going to his family's Christmas eve party, and to give the gifts to his parents, brother and sister-in-law, and two sisters. I'll be over there for a little while, then I'll be going out with my family to look at Christmas lights, as is our tradition. Unfortunately, it's supposed to be rainy, so I'm not too sure if we'll be able to drive around in my dad's Jeep with the top off, "busting Christmas carol." Either way, whatever we do will be fun.

I hope that everyone has a great, safe, happy holiday, and that Santa is good to all of you! :santa:

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas right back to you!

I hope you have a great day.
Enjoy all the great company and nice gifts.

I'll look forward to hearing all about your fun...
after the working part, that is!

Thank you! I did have a great day, work wasn't really bad either--it was busy, but I was on a register for most of my shift so the craziness made it go by fast. After work was awesome--I gave Charles his gift--a digital camera, and an 8 GB memory card from my parents--and he was thrilled.

******************************************

I don't actually have very many pictures from tonight--Charles was taking most of the photos with his new camera, so if he uploads them to Facebook at some point, I'll be "borrowing" them.

THIS pictures is actually from last night. Kailyn and I went to the craft store so that she could pick out paper and ribbon for her autograph book. She picked and paid, I made. This is her being happy with it and my dad being mad that he didn't get one. :rotfl:

n505059094_1082146_6887.jpg

I dyed her hair a few days ago, and I must say that I really like how it looks on her. It kind of makes me want to dye my hair, but I have to keep on reminding myself how much I HATE the upkeep.

Charles's dog, Buzzie, LOVES opening presents. He wrapped up a couple of milk bones and a few pieces of cheese, and she tore into it. Later on, she helped his older sister unwrap her present. She is amazingly gentle when she opens them, and it's absolutely hilarious to watch.

n505059094_1082147_6729.jpg

Charles's brother and sister-in-law got him a sword to hang on his wall. It's like 4 feet long, not including the 2' handle. They showed it to me when I was over there a couple of weeks ago, when his brother locked him out so that I could be shown. He had no idea what it was at first.

n505059094_1082148_7009.jpg

n505059094_1082149_7279.jpg

Charles was really excited with his gift from me--a new, compact digital camera--and from my parents--an 8 GB memory card.

n505059094_1082150_7540.jpg

I spent some time at Charles's house exchanging gifts with his family. I got some of what Charles's mother called "sensible stuff"--stuff for my car in case of emergency, such as a fleece blanket, extra gloves, hand warmers, and some small hammer-type thing. (Charles's dad informed me that it was in case my car ever went underwater and I needed to smash out the windows to get out. That is one of my biggest fears so I try very hard not to think of such things, but I really appreciate having something like that, because it will make me feel better, and I find it adorable that she made it a point to buy me emergency items for my car. I would not have thought of any of that on my own.) Charles's little sister got me a Nightmare Before Christmas Sally shirt, and his older sister got me a Jack Skellington belt!!! I LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas and I was soooo thrilled. Sadly, I left some stuff at Charles's house, so I'll have to retrieve it.

After the Christmas eve party at Charles's uncle's house, where I ate too much and spent time wandering back and forth between floors (his aunt and uncle own the house, and Charles's grandmother rents the downstairs and his brother and SIL rent the third floor), I went out with my family to drive around and look at lights, as is our tradition. Lots of blurry pictures and some good ones. We drove to a nearby kinda ritzy area. The houses were huge and beautiful.

n505059094_1082151_7801.jpg

n505059094_1082152_8070.jpg

n505059094_1082153_8340.jpg

I loved this--they had red and green floodlights or something to make each section of the house a different color.

n505059094_1082154_8616.jpg

I'm going to bed very shortly, since I want to be up in decent time and be able to watch the Disney Christmas parade!!! I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas again--I hope Santa is good to everyone and that you are happy, healthy, and get to spend time with the ones that you love best!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! :santa:

Gotta love the WDW parade, I agree with MeMom, I bet all of the Disers were watching. :lmao:

Work was crazy for me too yesterday but, I'm off for 4 days now, yeah!

Let's hope you never need those 'practical gifts'. Very thoughtful of her think of it. ;)

I forgot to mention the snowball pics of your BF were very cool put into a fast sequence.

Merry Christmas to you too!!

I watched the parade and I was soooo excited when I saw that first shot of the castle. We recorded it, too, since my mom was in and out of the kitchen getting everything ready, so now I can watch it whenever I need a "fix."

The practical gifts are pretty cool, and I'm really glad that she thought of them. A while ago, she also gave me a flashlight to put in my glovebox that doesn't take batteries--you just wind it up, and it's a ridiculously bright LED light.

The pics are actually of my brother, but he and Charles (BF) are both tall and bearded. ;) Charles is the one that saw it and put it together. I'm glad that you like it! I was cracking up when I saw it.

How was your Christmas?

Here from MeMom's report, looking forward to more.

Glad to hear you had a nice Christmas! We had a great couple of days! Busy, crazy, tiring, but fun. My boys were sooooo excited. I also got a new camera:banana: My old one kept malfunctioning right when I needed an important shot (like of my little one singing Christmas carols at school). Very excited. I have no idea how to post pics, (computer illiterate:lmao: )but would like to someday. My hubby bought me a new SUV in Aug that was my Present, but he always spoils me and I got wayyyy more than I should. He's the best.
We missed the parade since I was running on about 10 hrs of sleep for the previous two days wrapping gifts and cleaning. Had the family over on Christmas day and everyone went sledding and ate way too much. It is raining now, and melting the nearly 3ft of snow we got in the last week. Glad to hear you had fun on Christmas. Now we can concentrate on Disney:dance3:

I'm glad that you had a good Christmas. That's awesome about the new camera! Now you'll also have a new toy for your trip, too. :thumbsup2

Our snow is pretty much all gone, too. Of course, we didn't have 3 ft. like you did. It was rainy yesterday, and today was around 60, so it's mostly all gone. It's so strange to think that this time last week, we had so much snow, and now it's all gone.

I'm so excited to start concentrating more on Disney!!! We've been watching the DVD's that my dad made from our April trip, and talking about what we want to do. I got a new bag for Christmas--a Vera Bradley hipster--and the first thing I did was make sure that my autograph book, wallet, camera, sharpies, etc., fit okay in it. :rotfl:

Charles uploaded some of his picture from Christmas eve, so I'm going to borrow some and share.

Being excited over my new car stereo.

Charles's older dog, Buzzie (the present-opening one.) Buzzie was actually named for Buzz Lightyear. They adopted her when Charles's younger sister was pretty young, maybe 2 or 3, and her parents asked what she wanted to name the puppy. She answered with Buzz Lightyear, and her dad said that was a little long, so how about Buzzie for short? I thought that was so cute!

n1236900013_30072538_5943.jpg

And this is a close-up of their puppy, Jack. He's almost six months old. I don't think that he's named for anything. He just looked like a Jack, I guess.

An activity shot? It's me in the gray hoodie, Charles's sister-in-law next to me, his dad and mom in the matching shirts (they were red, but look orangey in the picture), and his uncle in the blue shirt.

We have almost 43 days until our trip! It's not quite midnight yet, so I can't take the Mickey head off my door yet. I wait until I get up in the morning, because it's become kind of a ritual by now.

In 44 days, 10 hours, and 16 minutes, we'll be here, waiting outside while my dad finds a spot for the van for the next seven days. Actually, I hope that we don't have to wait outside. It'll be too flipping cold in February.

We'll find somewhere

or something

to eat inside the airport.

And, we will kill time by taking pictures, because that's what we do.

If all goes well, we will get to Orlando around 1:30 PM, and board this

to here!!!!!

(I took like seventeen pictures of the entrance to Pop Century, but I didn't upload any of them, apparently. I'm not sure what I was thinking.)

Hopefully, we'll be heading here that night for EMH to ride Everest!!!

We should be there early enough to hit two parks--AK for nighttime EMH, and another park before closing. My dad will probably want to try for MGM, which also sounds good, because I am having ToT withdrawals and I didn't get to do RnR the last time, because the lines were too long. :( But, I am open to anything because WE WILL BE IN DISNEY WORLD!

Also, my dad LOVED the Lights, Motor, Action stunt show. He taped the whole thing and we watched it today. I think it would be so cool to drive one of those cars.

It looks like the next morning, our first full day, we'll be going to MK. We're going to try and get there at 8 AM for the morning EMH, and then we'll hopefully be heading over to the Poly so that Mom and I can try tonga toast. We don't normally make itineraries, and just decide day-by-day what we're doing, but I'm super excited about our plans for our first morning.

And, since I am a list person, I'm going to start working on my packing list. I finally got wise and started doing it in Word so that I don't go crazy with making and then re-writing the list because it looked too messy for my liking. :rotfl:

I'm also slowly adding on to the to-do list. I really want to see FOTLK. We saw it once years ago, but my mom kind of had to drag us there. I really want to see it again, though, since now I'm older and can appreciate those shows much more. My mom wants to do the animation studio, which is something that I hadn't really thought of, but sounds really cool. I'd like to try to catch more streetmosphere characters at DHS. I like seeing them, but unlike my dad, I won't make it a point to hang around Sunset Boulevard in the hopes of seeing them. There are rides to ride and shops to see! I am willing to ask any CM's if they know if or when they'll be out. I also want to catch Mulch Sweat and Shears at the beginning of a set sometime--the last time, we caught them towards the middle/end, and they always play really good songs.

I want to do Soarin' again. We only got to do it once in April, and I loved it SO much. I want to do Toy Story Mania, too, at least once, because it looks awesome, and so I won't leave there being depressed that I didn't.

I think that's pretty much it--I'm sure I'll be thinking of more to add on, I just gotta sleep on it. ;) Have a good night!

Animal Kingdom is a good choice for arrival day. It's an awesome park (they all are!), and then you can start out with Magic Kingdom first thing the next morning and get to do it right - with the opening show and all. We've done that same schedule before, and I think that's what we're doing in March, too.

If you get there at rope drop, you can knock out everything in Fantasyland in no time with no waits, if you like Fantasyland, and then that frees up all the rest of your day for the rest of the park.

Will you grab some Fastpasses while you run over to the Poly and have your Tonga toast? According to the allears menu board, they serve Tonga toast until 10:30, so just be aware of your time so you don't miss out. I vividly remember the morning we sat outside on Jill's birthday morning eating that breakfast absorbed in the beautiful Polynesian atmosphere. It was a very nice morning!

I predict you will like Festival of the Lion King much more now than you did long ago. The music is amazing, as you know, and the show is fun. Bring me some great Animal Kingdom pictures to get me through until March 18th. By the time you get back and start putting pictures up, I won't have much longer to wait, so I'll be really excited to see them, knowing I'll be there just a few weeks later!

I'm glad you had a good Christmas. The Disney dork came out in me immediately in the kitchen picture. The plate next to the crockpot had the blue rim and white middle, just like the Disney World plates do. At first glance, I though it was a Disney plate!

I'm dying to see the opening show at MK! I love Fantasyland and really want to do some rides there that we haven't done in a long time, like Peter Pan's Flight and Snow White's Scary Adventure. We only got to do Small World once last time, I think, and that is a favorite of my mom and I.

We probably will grab FP's before we head over to the Poly. And of course I will bring you lots of AK pictures! All of your awesome pictures have been holding me over until my trip, so I will definitely return the favor.
