An almost-girly trip ~ February 2009 TR!

Gee thanks! And I'm directionally challenged as well, so don't feel like your alone. We have been working at this one job since December and I've gotten lost coming home 3 times now...which is really hard to do since there are only two exits that I need to take :rotfl:

I'm sorry but that cracked me up :rotfl:

Yesterday, Charles and I ate at Cheesecake Factory for our 3 year anniversary -- we went to the one in Boston but didn't get any dessert (I know, scandalous) because we were stuffed and didn't want to carry around the cheesecake, so we went to a different one later on just to get cheesecake. He asked that I take the highway and not the back roads, and even though I used to take the highway ALL THE TIME, I got off at the complete wrong exit and we were going in the wrong direction for a while. Right when I was about to call it quits we saw where we were and managed to get our cheesecake.

I'm trying to drag out this report, plus I just DON'T want to do the next part since it's where Kailyn got sick. I also have hardly any pictures from it, because we basically just watched Spectro, Kailyn started getting nauseous, my mom let me forge ahead, and I got on a bus before them. That pretty much sums it up but I'll at least post some pictures in a really short update. Just not today. :)

But since I'm still trying to drag out the TR and put off writing about my sister getting sick in Disney World, I'm posting some pictures from yesterday, when Charles and I went into Boston for our 3 year (dating, obviously) anniversary and took pictures with my dad's DSLR. These were all stolen from Charles's FB, since he actually got the pictures uploaded before I did.

We parked my car at the station in our city and hopped on the train into Boston. We got off at the Prudential Center stop so that we could poke around the gigantic mall. When I say gigantic, I mean gigantic. It's got several ways in and out, and it's huge and sprawling. These are outside.

n1236900013_30159633_1968805.jpg

They're supposed to be horses but they're weird. :confused3

Charles took a picture of me taking a picture of the sign about the Pru Mall.

n1236900013_30159636_6038593.jpg

We took a long-ish walk to the Boston Public Gardens and the Boston Commons. I'm not going to lie, I've lived right outside Boston my whole life and never knew that the Commons and the Gardens were 2 different things. Charles said something about going to the Gardens, so we went there and then across the street are the Commons. They have different signs and everything.

This was right inside the Gardens. It was a really nice, pretty memorial garden. I think I took a picture of the whole thing, but it's either on my camera or Charles didn't upload it to FB from my dad's camera.

n1236900013_30159637_8067355.jpg

He's so cute and he makes that face all the time because when he was bored and taking pictures of himself in the car and at my house, I commented that the angles and the face made them look like "MySpace shots." :lmao: He claims that he has to make faces so that I don't accuse him of taking those kinds of pictures. Anyway, he liked that picture enough to make it his new default on Facebook so I'm glad.

n1236900013_30159642_5406852.jpg

Look just to the right of the lamp (? not sure what it is), at the little island in the middle. There's a little ramp for the ducks to go up it and get to the island!

n1236900013_30159646_7166992.jpg

We saw a dog walker with 4 or 5 dogs, 2 of which were German shepherds, one that looked like a Lab, and two smaller ones. I have to give the woman and any other dog walkers so much credit!

n1236900013_30159648_1151655.jpg

Make Way For Ducklings sculpture! There was a plaque that I took a picture of but I need to upload it.

n1236900013_30159649_7819162.jpg

See the gap between the very last duckling and the one in front of it? It was on the news Monday night that someone stole it. :sad2: I'm not sure how, because they're very firmly planted, but I saw where the other duckling had been and it was sad. I mean, what're you going to do with it?

Charles under the sign for Charles St.
n1236900013_30159652_3517506.jpg

Driving home. We were at a stoplight so I'm not driving and not looking at the road.

n1236900013_30159654_7383833.jpg

We had to get home because I had something being delivered to me, courtesy of Charles, and it ended up having come just before we got there, so my dad got it inside. It was an edible arrangement! For anyone that doesn't know, it's just what it sounds like -- fruit cut up and arranged like a bouquet, so there are pieces of pineapples cut out like daisies. There's a TON of fruit and it's all soooo good. The strawberries were gigantic and really sweet. I was so excited because I've never had one ordered for me.

We stayed at my house for a little while and then decided to take Caesar over to Charles's house to see his dogs. He has an older dog (she's 11 or 12) named Buzzie, and a 9-ish month old puppy named Jack. Caesar never seemed to care for Jack but we partially chalked it up to the fact that Jack wasn't "fixed" and Caesar was. Well now Jack is fixed and Caesar still doesn't seem to care much for him. I think that Jack is a little too hyper for him.

This was before we left. Charles took this.

n1236900013_30159657_4539987.jpg

Jack and Caesar. Jack is supposed to be a chihuahua/terrier mix but he looks much more terrier. His mom was a stray in Puerto Rico, like Caesar, and when the family adopted her, they had no idea that she was pregnant -- neither did the shelter! Charles's older sister is a preschool teacher, and she taught the little girl whose family adopted the pregnant dog, so when the family was looking for people to give away the puppies to, she asked Charles's sister.

n1236900013_30159658_4038020.jpg

These next pictures crack me up because in each one, Caesar is either running from Jack or turning his head away. I thought he seemed a little rough on Jack and he growled a few times, but Charles kept on telling me just to let him let Jack know that he was getting out of hand.

(Jack's on the left, with the red harness)

(check out Jack's face :lmao:)

n1236900013_30159665_2042650.jpg

Buzzie! She is not impressed with Jack. Caesar LOVES her. She looks really evil in this but she's so adorable.

n1236900013_30159668_7605659.jpg

This is a much better picture of Buzzie -- I took it a while ago on my phone. She's so sweet!

I have a LONG list of things that I need to get done for one of my classes -- it's a curriculum class and one of the 2 presentations is a teaching activity. My domain is "music and movement" so I need to "teach" a class with a lesson plan that I came up with, make everything for everyone in the class, and provide enough supplies for everyone. I foolishly signed up for it on my birthday, but oh well. Today's my day off and I'm trying to get everything done for my presentation before Easter so I don't have to worry about it. I also need to work on other lesson plans for my second presentation. I'll be so happy when this semester is over!

So, I'm off to Target, Home Depot, and wherever else I need to go to get supplies for my presentations. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Caesar and Jack are really cute together! It sounds like you had a great day! I still think you need to sing and dance for your presentation...and you need to post it on here :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Hi, glad to hear your anniversary went well and you enjoyed the day in Boston. Congrats on finding true love. :lovestruc

Why anyone would steal a tiny duckling statue is beyond me...how selfish...

I've seen the edible arrangements advertized here but I've never gotten one, how thoughtful of him to surprize you. ;)

Cute dogs, maybe one day they will become great friends...

I'm still here, continue your TR when you can. I know school must be hectic and work too.

We can quickly skip over the part where Dsis gets sick if you want.

It's hilarious to see them together because Jack is ALL OVER Caesar and Caesar's all :snooty: Jack is SO cute but such a handful.

 No singing or dancing for this presentation and believe me, you're not missing anything :rotfl2: I finally finished all the stuff -- I had to print out copies of my lesson plan 3 times because I kept on tweaking it, mostly b/c it was so time-consuming and kept on finding little ways to cut down on that time. Like, I decided against cutting out construction paper circles in various sizes and decided that markers would suffice for decorating. At this point, I don't really care what I get on the presentation, I just want it to be done!

Thank you! He is a great guy. :lovestruc It was a really good day, I wish we had gotten to more areas and gotten more pictures but there's plenty of time.

I was so upset about the duck! There was hardly anything to indicate that it had ever been there so whoever it was that took it must have had a good idea of what they were doing. Really, though, what are you going to do with a bronze duckling??

Get an edible arrangement for your mom for Mother's day and help her eat it! :rotfl: They're pricey (Charles told me not to look at the price tag but I did -- shhh don't tell him  ) but the fruit is soooo good and so fresh.

I hope they'll be friends one day but Caesar is a weird dog, he likes other dogs from a distance, but once they get close he doesn't really want to deal with them. Unless they're smaller. There's a pug that lives around the corner from us that he LOVES!

School and work have been SO hectic...I'm done with the semester May 14 and I can't wait. I have 3 presentations in the next couple of weeks. I HATE presentations, one of them is a group presentation that will be open to debate, and I'm not a debating kinda person so I'm a little nervous about it. And, if I keep up this TR long enough I might get to post about the trip out to Ohio next month :rotfl:

I think I am going to skip very quickly over that -- thanks for understanding

Sweet doggie! She looks so lovable in that picture!

Good luck with all of your school work. It will come to an end someday, only to start over again in a real classroom. :)
The good news is, you will be getting paid for it then! ;)

Hey, Just checking in. It has been awhile. Glad to hear all is well on your end, barring all the school work. I sure don't miss that, but wish I would have taken more advantage of all the knowledge available at my university. The dogs are so cute, although I'm more than alittle anti dog as our mastiff left us a "present" at 7 am Monday. I'll bet someone fed her some of the Easter brunch, since she never messes in the house. Keep up the report and good luck with school.

Buzzie is a super sweet dog! I love her! Caesar loves her because she's not a spaz like Jack. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the good luck, I need it! I didn't have school on Monday since it's a holiday in MA, and I have a group presentation tomorrow. I'm done the 14th, though, and I'm counting down the days. My last 3 Monday night classes all consist of nothing but unit presentations, so that'll be pretty painless.

Hey! Thanks for checking in again, I was thinking about you a couple of days ago.

I love mastiffs, they're so cute. :lovestruc I used to beg people not to feed Caesar when we first got home, because he was already having issues with getting used to his new food and with being in a new environment. Now popcorn, etc., is always "accidentally" dropped.

I've been really bad with updating, but I'm doing it now, finally! I will get better once school's done for the semester.

I just sat and read your entire report. I'm going to try and keep up with it now.

Thanks so much! School's finally winding down so I'm going to start giving everyone something to keep up with again.

*******************

First, a couple non-trip report updates:

I do want to apologize for having kind of neglected this TR. I want to drag it out, and I wanted to skip over the part where Kailyn got sick, but I didn't mean to delay it for this long. School has been a little crazy, because both my professors this semester LOVE the idea of presentations, and as a result, I have three of them. I only have 2 left to go, and one of those two is tomorrow evening. The semester is almost over, though, and I'm thrilled.

Just a few days after I'm done with classes, my dad, Michael, and I are going out to Ohio for a few days for my grandmother's belated birthday celebration -- her birthday was in January, but she didn't want people traveling then because of the constant threat of snow.

Next, one of my very good friends and I share an obsession with Broadway musicals. It started about 4 years ago when we went to see Phantom of the Opera when it came to Boston. Since then, we've seen Phantom of the Opera twice (even drove to Rhode Island for one of those shows), RENT, Aida, and Wicked (traveled to NYC and back in one night just to see that.) She saw Les Miserables, since she's currently in France for the spring semester and it was playing, but we're not getting into that because I'm jealous. Charles and I also saw RENT together, and he loved it.

So, my friend messages me on Facebook and informs me that RENT is coming to Boston in mid-July, and that Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal -- 2 of the original Broadway cast members -- are going to be in it, and do I want to go? Is the sky blue?

24 hours later and several emails/Facebook wall posts later, she had ordered the tickets. So, on July 19, I will be seeing TWO Broadway cast members in THE SAME SHOW, AT THE SAME TIME. Even just thinking about it and writing about it makes me feel all giddy. I immediately got a countdown Widget as well.

So, with that out of the way, I will FINALLY get on to the trip report again! It's a really short installment because I took hardly ANY pictures. My Spectro pictures never turn out for crap and I decided against even trying to get any pictures.

When I last left you, a long long time ago, it was Saturday night, February 14, and we had just finished up a delicious dinner at Boma. We took a cab back to the room, and my mom, Kailyn, and I decided to head to Magic Kingdom to see Spectro and try to ride a few rides, since MK was open until midnight.

Kailyn was being entertained by the lock on the door.

n505059094_1350692_1397.jpg

I snapped a few pictures of Kailyn and I while walking to the bus stop.

n505059094_1350695_2568.jpg

2358_52347819094_505059094_1350696_2959_n.jpg

Every single time we walked by these spots, I would try to figure out what "pargo" meant. Finally, I asked, "what's 'pargo parking?'" Kailyn laughed at me and I took a picture to document the moment.

n505059094_1350697_3359.jpg

We got on the bus, and as we were nearing Magic Kingdom, we could see the fireworks from Wishes going on. I was disappointed to have missed it, but my mother reminded me that we still had three whole days left to see it.

We got to MK and immediately headed to our favorite Spectro viewing spot, Frontierland. Back in the day, we used to have it pretty much to ourselves, and we have never watched it from anywhere else. We like missing the rush of people on Main Street after it's over, BTMRR and Splash Mountain are right there, and Haunted Mansion is a short walk away. We pulled up a piece of curb and planted ourselves down.

No matter how many times I've seen this parade, or listened to the music, I get ridiculously giddy when I hear Jiminy Cricket telling us that SpectroMagic is staring in just so many minutes, and actually being in Magic Kingdom and hearing the music is amazing. It is the one parade that we always, always make it a point to see.

They changed the Spectro dudes again, and I'm not going to lie, they still scares me a little at first. I got over it, though, when one float was passing by and I was gazing up in awestruck wonder, probably with my mouth hanging open, and a Spectrodude perched on top pointed at me. I waved back, all giddy, and he touched the brim of his hat and did a bow to me. :lovestruc Then, when the big bad wolf was passing by, he came over and leaned over my mom, just STARING at her. It was absolutely hilarious, but my mom hates having any attention lavished on her, so she wasn't as amused as Kailyn and I were. :rotfl: She's a good sport, though, and she could laugh about it even if she was a little embarrassed and a lot taken aback.

The parade ended, and the original plan was to go ride Haunted Mansion, since MK was open until midnight. At that point, though, it started to really hit Kailyn that she wasn't feeling well at all. My mom let me walk ahead and catch an earlier bus back to Pop, but Kailyn ended up getting sick. Twice. Once in MK, once at the bus stop. I do not handle that well, especially when it's a family member, and ESPECIALLY when it's my sister. I felt horrible for her.

My mom said that the people who witnessed Kailyn getting sick each time were incredibly nice, and instead of running away, they came over to help, offering napkins to clean it up, and wet-naps for her to wipe her face, and were just all so kind and offering all sorts of help. The CM at the bus stop was also incredibly kind about it. I have to give them all a TON of credit and thanks.

The night ended on a not-so-great note, and Kailyn didn't get out much for a couple of days, but we all made the best of it, and she did end up getting to enjoy the rest of the trip towards the end.

Up next: Pops and Meg hit DHS! :thumbsup2

It's good to hear from you again. Good luck with all of the schoolwork!

We'll look forward to hearing about RENT.

So sorry to hear about Sister getting sick. I know she felt miserable, and then to be miserable and miss Disney time is just no good. It's good to hear that people joined in to help you guys out.

Can you imagine grown people getting chills when an overgrown insect speaks? My goodness, what has this world come to? ;)

I've never had much luck with Spectro pictures, either. It's frustrating. This summer, I think I'll just video it for a change and see if that comes out any better.

Hi, Megs!!! Good to hear from you again! Thank goodness the semester is almost over, right? Good luck with your presentations!

Seeing Rent with two of the original cast members will be amazing!

Spectro is such a great parade to watch! It's just so pretty!

So sorry about Kailyn getting sick -- I hope it didn't last too long!

RENT should be pretty awesome! They (the original two) were in Buffalo a while ago, but we decided not to go...I'm sure you will have an awesome time!

Did you finalize the dates for Ohio yet? You need to get a new phone so that we can text some more......

I'm glad that you got to see Spectro! I've been listening to the soundtrack nonstop over the past week since I'm waiting to hear about the CP....

I'm sorry that Kailyn got sick...Can't wait to see more of your trip!

I guess since you did an update that means that I need to do another one....

Thanks for the good luck! I've been trying to keep up with all the reports but I've been terrible at posting.

I'm going to try desperately to drag this out so that I can write all about RENT...my friend and I have been basically writing "WE'RE GOING TO RENT" on each other's Facebooks nonstop for the past couple of days :rotfl:

I hated that Kailyn got sick and had to miss out on a lot, including the stuff that we had planned on her birthday, but she's a trouper and a good sport, and we did manage to get out as a family.

Thanks! I've so missed commenting on everybody's reports -- I basically just do quick drive-by reads and then forget to comment. :headache:

The presentation tonight went well, thanks for the good luck :goodvibes I texted DisKate to tell her that mine was actually recorded, so my awkwardness (I HATE presentations) and fast talking is immortalized :rotfl: It's because one of the classmates that I worked with is actually a music teacher, and our topic was the benefits of music education for young children, and she wanted it recorded so she can share it with her other teacher friends. I only have one more presentation to do in about a week and a half, and I'm hoping that next semester does not entail more than one presentation. ;)

Kailyn was out of sorts for a couple of days, but we did all manage to get out and have some fun together!

I'm so excited about RENT! I have a countdown going on my laptop. :lovestruc

We did finalize the dates for Ohio -- my dad pushed it back a day so we're leaving Sunday May 17 and coming home Thursday the 21st. Even if we can't meet then, I do want to try to arrange something over the summer when we both have more free time!

Oh gosh, my phone. Like I wrote on your FB, my dad and I went to the AT&T store to get it fixed...nope, we have to go to a store that has technicians, which is about 20 minutes away without traffic. There was no way I could have driven all the way there during rush hour and made it to school on time, so I might try to go tomorrow before work. I can't afford a new one but I'm willing to pay to have it fixed -- I don't think the warranty will cover it, since it was dropped. :rolleyes1 I'm trying to tell myself that dropping the phone enough to have the trackball pop out is something that happens frequently with Blackberrys and its not ALL my clumsiness.

I'm getting impatient waiting for you to hear back about the CP too! My next update will probably happen when I am putting off my last project/presentation :rotfl:

School is winding down and I am THRILLED. Tonight I had what I hope is my very last presentation of the semester, and I'm totally done as of next Thursday! Right after I'm done with the semester, my dad, Michael, and I are going out to Ohio for a few days -- just May 17-21. It's going to be a mini family gathering for my grandmother's belated birthday; she turned 92 in January but didn't want anyone traveling then. Two of my dad's sisters already live out there, and two more of my aunts that live around me are coming out as well. It also looks like my family in British Columbia -- my dad's brother, his wife, their three kids, and my cousin's baby -- are also coming down. I haven't seen them in almost five years and I've never met my cousin's baby. So, there will definitely be a mini Ohio TR within this trip report, and there might also be a mini DIS meet (perhaps later in the month or over the summer) with DisKate!! I'm very excited about that prospect because even though I'm a little older, we are pretty sure that we were separated at birth, and we've just gotten to be really good friends.

Now for the trip report! I tried uploading all the pictures to Photobucket, and it worked the second time (it froze my browser the first time), but the pictures were tiny and I couldn't figure out to make them bigger without making them all blurry and crappy looking. Photobucket and I are decidedly not BFFs.

Sunday, February 15. Dad and Meg do DHS!

Kailyn was not feeling well, and basically spent the entire day trying to sleep off whatever crappy feelings were lingering. My dad, on the other hand, wanted to get out and about to make up for lost time. I was up for anything, but I had a few things in mind that I absolutely HAD to do.

Downtown Disney -- Earl of Sandwich, Goofy's Candy Co., and just shopping.

Wishes. I HAD to see this. Seeing it from the bus the night before was such a tease.

It was decided that Dad and I would go to DHS and my mom would stay with Kailyn, then when Dad and I got back, he would stay with Kailyn so that my mom and I could go to DTD. I believe that plans for later that night were still up in the air.

Once Dad and I got to DHS, we quickly made our way past this. There were ToT Fastpasses that we needed!

4155_78030229094_505059094_1657138_1299704_n.jpg

We didn't really have any set plans and had time to kill before our ToT FP time, so we were just meandering and passed by One Man's Dream. My dad asked if I wanted to check it out, since I don't think we ever had before.

4155_78030249094_505059094_1657141_372643_n.jpg

I don't know how I could have NOT ever gone in here before. It's amazing. It makes me so sad that Walt died before he could see it for himself, and I can't imagine what it would be like if Roy hadn't carried it out for him. The recording of Roy's dedication speech made me all teary.

After One Man's Dream, we moved on past TSM. I forget what the wait was, but it was definitely 2+ hours. No TSM for us, but I LOVED the area! I had seen so many pictures of it and I was so excited to see it for myself.

We were heading towards Light, Motor, Action because there was to be a showing in a little while. My dad had to make a potty run, so I sat down on the library facade with his hoodie and his DSLR. I was intrigued by the little things on the "balconies" across the way. Just some of the little details that make Disney, Disney.

Dad came back and was extremely excited to see the Power Rangers. We didn't get in line for pictures with them, because he really just wanted a picture with the car.

We moved on to LMA. Once we were inside, I took this picture because not only does my dad know all the answers to the trivia (he LOVES cars and he loves car movies), but because it cracked me up that my dad's name, Carl, and his nickname, Kyle, were on the same screen. Some years ago, my entire family went to the New England Aquarium and went to see the sea lion show. They pick people from the audience to come down, and when the woman who did the show was picking people, she pointed up to us and said, "the big kid in the blue shirt." The big kid in the blue shirt was none other than my dad (highly appropriate because he is basically a big kid -- we all are) When my dad got down there, the woman was going down the line and asking names. When she got to my dad, he said "Carl." "Kyle?" "Carl." "Kyle?" "Yes." So, seeing that on the big screen absolutely killed me and I had to take a picture.

My dad and I LOVE this show. Like I said, he's really into cars and stuff, and I'm just intrigued by how carefully orchestrated it all is.

The motorcycles are the only part that really make me cringe. I'm terrified of motorcycles, and I know that the people who drive these ones are trained professionals, but it still makes me want to cover my eyes at times.

After LMA, my dad and I decided to head back to ToT since it was almost time for us to be able to use our FPs. Along the way, we saw some photo opportunities that we couldn't pass up.

Dad had the glasses, naturally. He also had the idea to tie his sweatshirt around his shoulders and have the camera hanging around his neck. :rotfl2:

After the photo ops, we headed to ToT. I think that this ride has my absolute favorite queue.

I don't have my dad's and my ToT picture uploaded, but I do have the picture of him and Kailyn on it the previous day. :lmao: I crack up every time I see it!

Up next -- girly time at DTD!

Nice update. Good to see Dad enjoying himself so much. I'm sure he works hard and deserved to go and play as a reward.

I'm not a Power Rangers person, but I think that is a really cool car. I always like it when they come out when we're in that area. I love the way they come out with all the music and then how they get called away on a mission.

Nice update Sis! :lmao:

I really hope that we get to see each other, but if not this time, then we will definitely meet up at some point! Good luck with finishing your finals, I'm off to do a presentation right now...seriously, who schedules these things for 8am? It's just cruel :confused3

Loved the update! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

He does work hard and I was so glad that he got to get out and enjoy himself!

I was a HUGE fan of Power Rangers when I was younger and they first came out -- like in the days of Kimberly the pink ranger, Jason the red ranger, Trini the yellow ranger, and then the dramatic addition of the white ranger  I was probably around 10 or 11 and Michael was 7 or 8. Michael had all the action figures, the plastic swords, and I think that he was a power ranger for Halloween one year!

Nice update Sis! :lmao:

Why thank YOU Sis! :rotfl2:

I'm really looking forward to any time that we get meet up! Good luck with all your stuff too! I'm all paranoid because a girl in my Monday curriculum class who's also in my Thursday guidance/discipline class asked if we were presenting our final papers in G/D...I'm really paranoid because 3 presentations for 2 classes is MORE than enough for me, and because I haven't really started that paper. :rolleyes1 But, this time next week I'll be done with one class :woohoo:

I just love all the pictures of your Dad with the old lady glasses! :lmao:

I loved the Power Rangers back in the day. The Pink Power Ranger was my favorite. I still freak out whenever I see the actress who played her. :rotfl2:

Thanks! He brings them everywhere now. We're going out to Ohio on Sunday and I might get to meet up with a fellow DISer (DisKate) along the way, and I was telling my mom about it. She said to make sure that my dad doesn't wear the glasses. :lmao:

It is so weird for me to see that actress, too! I liked the blue Ranger, Billy. I liked the nerdy guys in my younger days. :rotfl2:

********************

The semester is over, my summer has started, and my dad, Michael, and I are leaving on Sunday to spend a few days in Ohio with a bunch of other family members. There's going to be a mini TR within this TR, because my entire family is a bunch of characters and it should prove to be a fun time.

This is going to be an almost picture-less post, since I didn't bring my camera to DTD. I don't know what happened, but I'm assuming that I just left it the room by accident. The same thing happened later on in the evening, when I didn't feel like carrying my bag, grabbed a few things, and forgot my KTTW card. :headache: I really can't be trusted to just "grab a few things" out of my bag to bring, because I will always forget something.

When I last left you, my dad and I had watched Lights, Motor, Action!, not auditioned for or watched the American Idol experience, rode ToT, saw Power Rangers, taken way too many silly pictures, and enjoyed some time at DHS.

We went back to the room so that my parents could switch off staying with Kailyn, who still wasn't feeling very well, and because my dad wasn't the least bit interested in shopping with me at Downtown Disney. Not surprisingly, my mom was.

We headed to the bus stop and had a very short wait. We got to DTD and immediately headed towards a map so that we could find out where Earl of Sandwich was. I had been looking forward to eating here for SO long, since I had read so many good things about it. We decided to eat there and then get on with our shopping. It was kind of an off time, around 1 or 2 in the afternoon, so we missed any lunch crowds, and it was still pretty early for any dinner crowds. I got the Caribbean BBQ sandwich with chicken, ham, pineapple, swiss cheese and some kind of BBQ sauce. My mom got the veggie sandwich with feta cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, roasted red peppers, and Mediterranean dressing (yes, I checked allears for my mom's sandwich.) My sandwich was sooooo good, and my mom really liked hers, too. I think I could make a whole meal just out of their bread. EoS did not disappoint, and we'll definitely be going there again.

After our bellies were full and we were content (I tend to get hostile when I'm hungry :rotfl: ), we were ready for some shopping! We hit World of Disney, just because it seems crazy to be in Downtown Disney and NOT hit World of Disney. That store is enormous and I was definitely getting a little overwhelmed, but we still poked around. I didn't buy anything here, but I remember waiting in line with my mom, so she must have gotten something.

Next, we hit up Basin. I had never known about this place until I started reading the Disboards, and I am so glad that I did, because I don't know how I missed it before. My mom knew of it, but was never interested in going in there before just because of the name, which she associated with her mom saying, "get the red basin!" whenever someone was sick. :rotfl2: Once we went in, though, we were in heaven. We were walking around and sniffing everything. One thing that I love about going places with my mom is that she likes to poke around and look at everything and usually take her time. And did we ever take our time in Basin. So many good-smelling (and a few not so good-smelling) things, and the soaps were adorable! I'm not sure exactly which ones my mom got, but I got these ones:

4155_78030454094_505059094_1657175_1911769_n.jpg

The apple one smelled amazing. I apologize for the background. I set them out on the floor at Pop and took pictures, while my mom lined up hers nicely in front of the styrofoam cooler and took pictures.

After buying pretty things in Basin, I wanted to go the Art of Disney. I desperately wanted a print that I had seen, and I wanted to get something for Charles. I found the print that I wanted, and I found a Wall-E print for Charles. He LOVES Disney-Pixar movies and he loved Wall-E.

My print, which is hanging up next to my desk,

4155_78030444094_505059094_1657173_2933055_n.jpg

and Charles's print.

After the Art of Disney, we headed to Goofy's Candy Co. I had known for months that I wanted a rice krispy treat and I was DYING to get one, because they looked really good and from what I'd read, they didn't get hard and gross quickly. I pretty much copied my mom, except she didn't get caramel drizzle, just white chocolate drizzle.

4155_78030439094_505059094_1657172_6958389_n.jpg

And the finished masterpiece....

4155_78030424094_505059094_1657169_4800285_n.jpg

These bad larries were seriously HUGE. The rice krispy treats started out at a normal size, but after being dipped and covered, they were gigantic. It took me a few days to eat mine and it took my mom a little longer to finish hers. And, considering that I just left mine in the box and picked at it for a few days, it stayed very soft and didn't get the least bit stale or gross. It was such a yummy treat to have for a few days. :cloud9:

Next up -- MK for Wishes and rides with Pops!

Have a great weekend, and I'll hopefully get a chance to post some pictures from Ohio and a possible DIS meet with Katie!

Yay for being out of school! :cool1:
Hopefully you'll have more DIS time now.

Have fun on your trip! I hope you do get to have a Dis meet.

P.S. Basin is a cool place. I did recognize the floor background.
