AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Don't give up!!! 137 is actually a very good weight. Look at your clothing size. How do your clothes fit now compared to several months ago. You've been working out every week. Here's a website of the ABCDEF diet. I've been debating going on it since its just for two weeks but don't think I will - I'd miss too many of my favorite foods.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2104-1531362,00.html

Its basically a diet where you eat only veggies & lean protein sources for two weeks. Its supposed to work but you have to be very careful when its over or you'll just gain all the darned weight back. Hang in there!

OK, after my “woe is me” day yesterday, I am feeling much better. And that pesky scale said 135 this morning! Can you believe it?!?!??! :eek: Now if it would have said that yesterday, I wouldn’t have gone off the deep end!! I am going to see if it stays at that number for a couple days, and if it does, I am claiming it!!!! ::yes:: I did great at sticking to my plan last night. I was at 1283 calories. I also changed up my workout – I did 20 min of resistance training and 20 minutes jog/run on the treadmill. I am definitely more motivated to keep my calories down now that I saw some movement on the scale! I am not holding my breath, too many times in the past my weight has gone down one day, only to be back up the next. But hopefully this time the loss is real!!

Tonight is Curriculum Night at the kids’ school and we get to sample the cookies that they are selling for their fundraiser. I will sample a couple (I am assuming it is just little bite-sized pieces – my goal is no more than 1 cookie’s worth of samples) and that will count for my sweets for the day. The plan (1583 calories - high estimate):

B-Yogurt (4 oz); Granola (1/4 cup – the last of this kind!); Banana
L-Leftover Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi (SO delicious!); 2 Carrots; 1 PB & Chocolate Chip Rice Cake; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Honeydew (1 cup)
D-Leftover Crockpot Chicken dish (1.5 cup) w/Brown Rice (3/4 cup); White Chocolate & Macadamia Cookie; 1 Butterscotch Disc
WORKOUT-Pilates (40 min); Walking (40 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I don't think I could stay on that diet for 2 hours, let alone 2 weeks! I am too much of a carb junkie. And no fruit? No way, I wouldn't survive!!! Although if I don't see some real results soon, I just might get desperate enough to try it... ;)
Congrats on the 135!!! Just when you are feeling the most discouraged the scale finally moves! Great job!
You're right, Milk Duds are evil. In fact, as I was munching on them I was thinking that they don't taste as good as I remembered. Here's to a better weekend. I have to work this weekend so hopefully that'll keep me out of trouble.
The scale was still down (136) this morning!!! I am so excited!!! :bitelip: I will have to wait until Wednesday to officially “weigh-in” (and make sure this loss is for real), but I have to share my joy with everyone now!!! My calories must have been too high for losing, but just right for maintaining. I ate more at dinner last night than I had planned on, so I upped the portion size on FitDay. Also, at the Curriculum Night, they did not have bite-sized samples, they had whole cookies! So I had 1 white chocolate & macadamia nut cookie and I looked up the calories for a Nestle Ultimate cookie (same type) and the calories were around 200! So I oopsed a little (I estimated on the high side on FitDay) and my calories for yesterday were about 1583. Not good… But I will get back to below 1300 calories today and plan to stay that way (most days) for at least the rest of this month!
I also got my Pilates in, although it was TOUGH! I have been so beat this week, I don’t know what the deal is. We walked to the school (15 min each way) and got back at 8pm. I got the kitchen cleaned up and the kids to bed and FORCED myself to do my Pilates DVD (the 40 min one). I was glad I did it, but I was sure tired afterwards! For today (1280 cal):
B-Light-n-Fit w/FiberYogurt; Cheerios (¾ cup) w/Skim Milk (½ cup); Banana
L-Romaine (2 cups) w/2 Egg Whites, Shredded Cheddar (1/8 cup) & LF Dressing (2 tbsp); 1 PB & Chocolate Chip Rice Cake; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Honeydew (1 cup); 1 Papaya Spear
D-Lemon Pepper Chicken (grilled - 4 oz); Pasta-Roni (½ cup); Green Beans (1 cup); 3 Crème Savers (60 cal)
WORKOUT-Weights (20 min); Elliptical (25 min); Walking (10 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, that is your guilt talking to you about those Milk Duds! It makes them taste bad!!! I am more determined than ever to stay on track this weekend. I am going to do my best to be 135 OR LESS on Wednesday!! Here's to a successful, healthy weekend! :flower:

Woo Woo!!! 135 is just around the corner!! Have a great weekend! Stay away from the martini's & I"ll avoid the cosmos!

You are doing great Amy - you kicked that scales butt and told it who was boss!!!!!!! Good for you! And you are on the right track, just don't quit - I know it's hard and there are days I say I'm throwing in the towel but I'm really seeing more results (not as many comments yet but I'm so looking forward to them soon).

You can do this!!!!!

Keep on :banana: :banana:
Chris

Somehow I stayed on track yesterday! The kids wanted popcorn (Friday is our movie & popcorn night) and it was TORTURE!!!! I didn't eat a single kernel because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop. So I had to sit on the other couch while they munched away... :guilty: But I am glad I did that because the scale still said 136 this morning. You know, I think I actually lost a pound! It's been 136 or less for 3 days in a row now!!! But I won't claim it until Wednesday, just to make sure! ;)

This week is the week before TOM. Just what I need! I finally start to see some results and now I am going to have a couple water pounds creep on… Oh well, c’est la vie!

DD6 had her first soccer game of the season today! She looks so cute in her little purple uniform! She did really good, I am so proud of her! My mom has been begging to have the kids over so I took them to her house so they could spend the night getting spoiled. Then I hit the gym on the way home, since DB is at a golf tournament. And I plan on doing my Pilates Sculpt DVD first thing tomorrow morning. I am trying to stock up on exercise minutes because I know it will be tough to meet my goal this month. For today (TOO MANY cal):

B-Egg Beaters (¾ cup) w/ Shredded Cheese (1/8 cup); Toast-n-Butter; Banana (why did DB get SO MANY BANANAS??? I am sick of them. Luckily this was the last one!)
L-BLT w/no mayo
S-FF Vanilla Yogurt (¾ cup) w/LF Granola (½ cup); Honeydew (1 cup)
D@Outback-4 Grilled Shrimp; 3 pieces Bread-n-Butter; Cup of Potato Soup; 2 Martinis
S#2-Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (large); Spicy Peanut Mix (lots); Yogurt/Chocolate Covered Pretzels (lots); 3 Rum-n-Diet Sprites :eek:
WORKOUT-Treadmill (25 min); Stationary Bike (25 min)

Well, I had all the best intentions yesterday and did great until DB came home from his golf tournament and said "Let's go to Outback"... So once again, life got in the way of my dieting!! Outback itself wouldn't have been so bad, but our friends invited us over to watch the ASU game. THAT is where I did major damage! I ate SO MANY yogurt and/or chocolate covered pretzels and tons of spicy peanut mix, not to mention the 3 Passion Fruit Rum-n-Diet Sprites (in addition to the 2 martinis I already had at Outback). So obviously this is not a good thing... I can't even remember the quantities that I ate, so I can't put it into FitDay, but I'm sure my calories were over 2000. :guilty: But the scale wasn't TOO mean - I was up 1lb, back to 137. Usually after these weekend binges I am up at least 3 lbs. I'm hoping it will go away by Tuesday and I will still be able to claim at least a 1lb loss next week!!

I am back on track today. I am trying to scrape up some energy to do my Pilates Sculpt DVD. I have to do it as soon as I am done posting - no excuses! For today (1229 calories):

B-Egg Beaters (3/4 cup) w/Cheese (1/8 cup); Toast-n-Butter; Honeydew (1 cup)
L-Grilled Turkey-n-Cheese Sandwich
S-FF Yogurt (3/4 cup) w/LF Granola (1/2 cup); Cantaloupe (1 cup)
D-Shake-n-Bake Pork Chop (1 thin cut); Rice-A-Roni (1/2 cup); Cauliflower (1 cup); 5 Creme Savers
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt DVD (55 min)

Hey, at least the Sprite was diet!! I have been on an eating binge this weekend. I hate weekends!! We'll start over (again...) tomorrow and have a great week! :flower:

Ah, my favorite time of the month. I gained 2 lbs sometime during the night. I am going to take a water pill for the next 5 days so I can still fit into my clothes! When I get to my goal weight, I don't think I'll have to worry about it because I will no longer be right on the edge of my clothes fitting - I'll have some leeway every month!!!

I stayed 100% on plan yesterday, except I did have 1 more Creme Saver than I planned (so I added an extra 20 cal to my total). I also got my Pilates Sculpt DVD done. It is SO tiring! This week DS starts tennis so I have no idea if I will be able to do any workouts on Tues and Thu. I'll have to see how it goes... For today (1641 cal):

B-Yogurt Burst Cheerios (3/4 cup) w/Skim Milk (1/2 cup); Honeydew (1 cup); FF Yoplait Yogurt
L-Romaine (2 cups); Chicken Breast (3 oz); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); 10 Mini Rice Cakes; DC
S#1-Grapes (1 cup)
S#2-Cantaloupe (1 cup); 10 Doritos
D-Wheat Spaghetti (1 cup) w/Sauce (1/2 cup) and 4 Schwans Meatballs; 4 Creme Savers; Papaya Spear
WORKOUT-Weights (20 min); Treadmill (25 min); Walking (10 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karyn-You are right, the Diet Sprite was a good choice!!! :rotfl: I must not have done too bad since I only gained 1 lb the next day (and some of that might have been from my good friend TOM, so who knows?). The good thing is that I didn't let it bother me for the entire next day. I can't change what I already did in the past, right? ;)
Sounds like you had a great time at the Outback this weekend. I avoided the cosmos and ended up with Long Island Iced Teas instead. I went from bad to worse! At least you stayed with the diet rum drinks.
Great job on the workouts! I'll have to get caught up.
Hi Amy,
I am so glad that you didn't give up. You really showed that scale who was boss!! Way to go.
Awesome job on losing the 2 pounds.....you will get there again. You know you can!
Keep up the good work!
I was the victim of a PMS Snack Attack yesterday! I had 1 chocolate covered macadamia nut at work (a co-worker went to Hawaii and brought some back – worth every one of its 53 calories!). While I was making the kids lunches, I had 10 Doritos (at least I stopped myself at 10, I could have easily eaten ½ the bag…). Then after dinner I had an extra Crème Saver (4 total) and a papaya spear. Oops! That put me at 1641 calories (those 2 snacks after work cost me 330 calories!). The scale said 138 this morning, so I was actually 1 lb down from yesterday, but still 2 lbs up from where I was this weekend. Thanks TOM!
I ordered DD’s Halloween costume from Disney Direct. She wants to be Sleeping Beauty and that particular costume was on sale for ½ price! Usually I am a day late for sales, this time I actually got to take advantage! I got her the crown and the shoes too. She will be so excited! I also ordered DB the Jack costume (also on sale, look at me go!). I will look for pirate costumes for all of us on clearance after Halloween. We don’t need them until our cruise in March, so I’m not in a big hurry. The plan for today (STICK TO IT!!! 1357 cal):
B-Cinnamon Oatmeal (1 packet Quaker WeightControl); FF Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 cup)
L-Romaine (2 cups); Chicken Breast (3 oz); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); PB & Chocolate Chip Rice Cake; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Tropical Fruit Salad (1/2 cup)
D-Pork Roast (3 oz); 3 Carrots; 2 small Red Potatoes (all in crockpot); Mini Ice Cream Sandwich; 3 Butterscotch Discs; 1/4 cup Cheerios
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I think the amount of rum erased any positive effect of the Diet Sprite. This Passion Fruit rum is new and it is SO good, you should try it!

Jamie, thanks for the encouragement, it's nice to have you back!

How did you stop at just one chocolate covered macadamia nut? You have more willpower than I do! My mil bought us some one year at Christmastime and I think they lasted about a day.

Great job on the costume shopping & its not even October yet.

Hang on, before you know it your trip to Mexico will be here. I'm sure you'll be ready. Your workouts are amazing! :cheer2: You're already past 500 minutes and its only the 13th.

Hi Amy-

Just trying to catch up. Congrats on finding the costume deal. I always seem to miss those too.

1 chocolate covered macadamia nut?? I hope it was a big one. :earseek:

Good job on the excercise challenge.

The ONLY (and I stress ONLY) reason I was able to stop at one was because he was walking around with the box, with all of my other co-workers lingering about. So I had 2 choices: 1) Politely take one and eat it, or 2) Take one, eat it, then chase him down the hall, tackle him, take the rest and cram them all into my mouth... Since I have to work with these people everyday, I chose Option #1. Had they been strangers, my decision may have been different... ;)

That is too funny!!! I can see you running down the hall tackling that guy for the nuts!!!!

You are doing a great job on the exercise. Keep it up!!!

The big weigh in is today. Thanks to TOM, I am still at 137. But that is 1 lb less than yesterday, so that's good. Now that I think I know what the problem has been (calories too high) and I am sticking to around 1300/day (most days, anyway!), I think I will see a permanent loss soon. The best thing is that I am not stressing about that number on the scale! I bet next Wed I'll finally be able to post a loss for my Thanksgiving challenge. That will be a very exciting day!!

Planning things out on FitDay in advance is WAY easier than putting it in later and finding out I went over. I’m getting a little obsessive about it, but I think this is what I have to do for a couple months to get to where I want to be. I stayed on track yesterday, but I did have 3 butterscotch discs and a handful (probably ¼ cup) of Cheerios in addition to my mini ice cream sandwich. I was still at 1357 calories after adding those extras in. Not bad, but could be better… I finally stopped walking by the pantry and watched The Biggest Loser (I TiVo'd it) while chewing a piece of gum. I don't think I could watch that program without TiVo. It was 1.5 hours and I watched the whole thing in 1 hour 5 minutes by skipping the commercials. That's 25 minutes of advertising! Sad, huh?

I didn't get in anything but 10 minutes of walking yesterday. Tuesdays are just going to have to be my day off - too busy! It is starting to get nicer here (only in the 90’s for the high). In another couple weeks I will be able to resume my lunchtime walks. That is an extra ½ hour of exercise 5x a week! Plus it gives me time to unwind and think about stuff I’m usually too busy to think about! Today (1279 cal):

B-Yogurt Burst Cheerios (3/4 cup) w/Skim Milk (1/2 cup); FF Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 cup)
L-Romaine (2 cups); Chicken Breast (3 oz); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); 10 Mini Rice Cakes; DC
S#1-Grapes (1 cup)
S#2-Tropical Fruit Salad (1/2 cup)
D-Cowboy Grub (Beef Tips, Onion, Hashbrowns, BBQ Sauce); 4 Butterscotch Discs; 3/4 cup PB Toast Crunch
WORKOUT-Weights (30 min); Elliptical (25 min); Walking (10 min)

You're doing great! Looks like Fitday it working for you. I couldn't handle putting in all the calculations everyday. I know many successful dieters who swear by it.

I fell asleep while the Biggest Loser was on. Hopefully dh didn't delete it. I did the same thing on the last episode of Celebrity Fit Club. I fell asleep & the next day our tivo got fried in a power surge!

That tropical salad sounds good! Enjoy your week!
