AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Amy, you look great! Don't think you need to have any worries there. I hear you on the scale, though. It is so darn frustrating when you are doing everything right.

My DH has really blonde hair so his gray doesn't show (and I'm SURE there must be some even though he flatly denies it! :rotfl2: ). I'm not so lucky. It wouldn't be so bad if the grays hid nicely among the brown hairs, but no, the darn things want to stick straight up! :crazy: Tell DH that gray on guys makes them look distinguished. Too bad it's not the same for women. :sad2:

Crossing chocolate oatmeal off the list. Between my own DD2 and my new niece and new nephew (on the way), I am still way too close to the baby poop years! :rotfl2:

For snacks on the go, I like to grab a NatureValley Sweet&Salty Almond bar. It is also what I grab when I am having a sweets attack.

:cheer2: :banana: :cheer2: Great job at DQ!

Thanks for stopping by my journal even though I have been slacking getting to journals. I really appreciate your encouragement. :teeth:

I just realized that I didn’t include something on Tuesday’s totals – I finished the bag of tropical dried fruit. There were only a couple pieces left and I decided to get it out of the picture… :confused3 Yesterday was great. I was busy helping DD6 with her school project (an ocean diorama) so no time to think about snacking. I cut back on the toast and added some fruit to breakfast. I also skipped the mashed potatoes at dinner and loaded up on veggies instead. I really struggled to avoid the dreaded candy jar at work, but I did it! :cool1: And the most impressive – I behaved with Cool Whip! :thumbsup2 I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 12oz iced green tea and a Peach Fresca:

6:25am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (1); Cantaloupe (1/2c)
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Strawberries (1c)
11:30am: Turkey-n-Provolone on Wheat; Cauliflower (3/4c)
2:30pm: LF String Cheese; Carrots; Grapes (1c)
6:30pm: Pork Chop (3oz); Zucchini; SF/FF Pudding w/2 tbsp Cool Whip Light (I actually measured it!)
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Candy dish @ work; More Cool Whip; Pringles
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, you should try the chocolate oatmeal! It doesn't look THAT bad. It's really good and very filling too. And I also appreciate all your encouragement, that is what we are here for! :goodvibes
Okay Amy - I have to say this. Your husband is HOT!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I think the salt and pepper look is very appealing on him. I think guys are just like women, they fuss over seeing those grey hairs!!!!! :)
And you look great. You are doing a great job and keeping on track. I see your comment about Cool Whip - HUGE, BIG downfall of mine also!!!!! I only buy the Light but that's even worse than the regular. I try to buy the Fat Free because I don't like it as well but then it sits in the fridge and gets moldy because it's not getting eaten. I like Cool Whip on my fat free frozen yogurt but then it tastes good just with a finger dip too!!!!! LOL
You did much better than me! I could never stop after two caramels. Sorry to hear that the candy jar is back.
Congrats on those workout minutes! :cheer2: You'll definately be ready for Michigan!
Great job controlling the Cool Whip and resisting Pringles - I can't have those in the house. Good working the fruit & veggies in. I need to work on that too. Still don't know about the Chocolate Oatmeal though .... :rotfl2:
I thought of your tropical fruit this morning when I was looking at Trail mixes for my weekend trip. Henrys has bulk bins of bunches of stuff. I got the "low carb" mix and the Carmel/Chocolate mix for the kids, but gotta say, the nutritional info on the two were pretty darn close!
Have a great weekend!
I caved with the Cool Whip… I swear, it’s like a drug addiction – it almost drives me insane knowing it’s there and not eating it! I went to put it back in the freezer, and stupid me, I had to take the top off. :guilty: I had to take DD6 to get a gift for a b-day party this weekend, plus get a baseball and some colored Sharpies so DH’s baseball team can sign a ball for him. We got him a glove-shaped trophy for all his hard work and will put the signed ball in it. So we ended up going to Chili’s (since the meat wasn’t thawed out to make dinner). I behaved for the most part (well, except for the ice cream), but here is why I 1) hate my body and 2) can’t put any emphasis on what the scale says: Wednesday I weighed 139. Yesterday it was 137. Today it was 140! WTH??? :furious: And I know it is not my scale because the scale at the gym does the same thing (except it is actually a couple lbs higher since I weigh with all my clothes & shoes on & in the middle of the day).
It is just so aggravating. I am about ready to hang it up – go out and buy a bunch of Size 8 pants and just live with the fact that I’m not a Size 6 anymore. I mean, I have been at this for almost a year and have made no progress whatsoever. It’s really hard to see everyone else losing while I am just spinning around in a whirlpool, even gaining weight. I work out all the time yet my clothes don’t fit any better. I am seriously the most discouraged I have been in a long time. I mean come on, I can't even go out to dinner without gaining 3lbs? It's just not right! :sad2: :sad1: :sad: I think the only way I can slim down is to starve myself and I am just not willing or able to do that. :guilty: I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, at least 20oz iced tea and a DC:
6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Strawberries (1c)
11:00am (@class): Turkey-n-Pepper Jack on Wheat
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Carrots; Grapes (1c)
6:00pm (@Chili’s): Buffalo Chicken Salad (no dressing); Cinnamon Apples (1/2 of DS’s); Baskin Robbins Baseball Nut (single scoop in cup)
7:30pm: Cool Whip Light (1/4c?)
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Candy dish @ work; Chips & Cookies @ class; Cocktail @ dinner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chris, I also get Cool Whip Light. I need to not buy it at all anymore, since there is no way I can control my intake. I also eat it via finger dip (times that by 7 and you see where the problem is...)

Jane, the only reason I can stop at 2 caramels is because I am at work and I don't want people to stare when I have my trash can full of candy wrappers...

Anna, I have to chew gum while getting the kids' lunches ready or I will snack on a few chips or whatever I am packing for them. That is the only thing that helps! Mmm, trail mix - another thing I can't have around. :crazy:

Amy, you're going thru a tough time right now & I don't blame you one bit for being p*ssed off! Its just not fair! You eat better and workout more than anyone I know. Don't give up hope - you'll be fitting into those 6s soon!

Have you thought about talking with one of the trainers at the gym to see what they say? I'm sure you're not the only one going thru this. Take it from me fasting doesn't work. I went on a fast for Easter once for 10 days. I didn't do it to lose weight & its a good thing because I only lost 4lbs and I gained 2lbs back as soon as I started eating food again. Don't let this get you down!

:goodvibes :sunny: :goodvibes :) :goodvibes :) :goodvibes :) :goodvibes :) :sunny:

Hi Amy,

Thanks for posting that pic..I think you look great!!! You are doing a great job...your picture is proof.
Way to go at DQ...I knew you could do it!!!! :banana: :banana: :banana: And going forward I am sure that it will get easier.

I am sorry to hear that the scale is not working right.....I understand and you have every right to be angry. Please Please don't give up....you have come to far to do that. I am sure that even though you are not losing weight, you are so much more healthy and that has to count for something.

Hang in there, you are doing a great job

Have a great weekend :)

I did good yesterday, except I did not make it to the gym. DS10 got in trouble at the after school program and I had to come pick him up. I was VERY mad because I had purposely taken off work 1/2 hour early so I could go to the gym before going to his baseball game. And it was fate that I didn't go to the gym - for the first time ever, I accidently left my purse in the car. After getting dressed and putting my stuff in the locker, I went out to the car to get it and as soon as I shut the door my cell phone rang and it was the school... :furious: I already was in a grumpy mood and that definitely didn't help! DS didn't get to go to my mom's after his game (DD did, which really fried DS). Hey, that's what happens when you misbehave! So now I really have to scrape up every exercise minute I can to make goal... I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 10oz iced green tea and a Peach Fresca:

6:20am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:40am: Cantaloupe; FF Cottage Cheese
11:20am: Pork Chop; Mashed Potatoes; Carrots
2:15pm: Egg Whites (2); Grapes; LF String Cheese
5:15pm: Balance Bar; Cantaloupe
8:20pm: Beef Jerky; Frosted Sugar Cookie; 3 SF Creme Savers
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Candy Dish @ work; Another Cookie; More Beef Jerky

Jane, there is no way I could fast - I love food too much! It's really getting old - not losing anything. I thought about a trainer, but I don't think they'd be able to tell me anything I don't already know. I see them around the gym all the time and they are doing pretty much the same things with their clients that I do by myself. I just need to get a grip!

Jame, thanks! Behaving at DQ was easier than I thought. I don't think I'll have any problems from now on. I wanted to give up, but then I realized that it has been almost a year since writing down everything I eat. I don't think I'd know what to do if I didn't track my food! :confused3

Amy: Hang in there! I think when you only have a small amount of weight to lose and you are very close to goal it takes a long time to lose anything because even a small amount of weight on the scale is a large percentage of your total body weight. And it could be that maybe this is your ideal weight. You could continue to firm up and gain muscle without losing pounds. Or you could suddenly drop five pounds out of nowhere. Women are funny creatures with all of our hormones and water retention. But don't give up, you look great, you are in excellent shape and you eat a fabulous, balanced diet. So all the components are there and working, the scale just isn't cooperating! Maybe you should have your dh hide that scale where you won't find it and not weigh yourself for a month. Or maybe you should take a hammer and smash the scale!! And boy do I hear you on that cool whip. I learned a long time ago if its in the frig it won't be for long. I love Cool Whip! I don't even know what the hell it is but I love it! Hope you are having a great weekend. You are an inspiration to many of us with your working out and eating right so don't get discouraged! :cheer2:

I did pretty good yesterday considering it was super busy. DD had a b-day party to go to at Chuck E Cheese. We have tons of tokens so I gave her a bunch. The plan was to stick around for the 1.5 hours and let DS play games, but since he was grounded, that was no longer an option. So we dropped DD off and went to a Mexican restaurant. Then we picked DD up and went straight to the Little League night at the Diamondbacks game. Hundreds of Little Leaguers (all in uniform) got to walk on the field before the game. The D'backs CRUSHED the Atlanta Braves (13-0). It was an awesome game! My food wasn't great, but I didn't eat a lot. I got in ~90oz of water, 8oz FF Chai and a Prickly Pear Margarita :cloud9: :

9:00am: FF Yogurt; Grape Nuts Crunch
12:40pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (1); 47 Goldfish (the last of the bag)
3:30pm (@Serranos): 10 Chips-n-Salsa; Taco Salad (shredded chicken, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo - no dressing, didn't eat shell); 5 of DS's skinny fries
6:45pm (@D'backs game): HUGE Caramel Apple w/Nuts (we're talkin' softball sized!)
WORKOUT: On the Ball (60min); Elliptical (45min)
RESISTED: More chips-n-salsa; eating after game (10pm)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, you are SO right, thanks for that! I think I am destined to stay in the 130's, and most of the time I am OK with it, but every once in a while I will just snap. :crazy: I know I am in the best shape of my life and I know I am doing everything right. I just need to learn to stop hating my body... I tried not weighing myself for a whole week and that was NOT a good thing. I had some serious "scale rage" when I hadn't lost a single lb... :rolleyes1 What is it with the Cool Whip? That stuff is EVIL!!!
Tonight is DS’s last game of the season. Yay!!! :cheer2: The team is going to a pizza place afterwards to hand out the certificates I printed up for the players. I will stick with 1-2 pieces of cheese pizza (that’s the plan anyway!). I’ve noticed my fruits and veggies are definitely lacking on the weekends. I should work on that. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 16oz FF Chai, 10oz iced green tea and a Peach Fresca:
8:00am: FF Yogurt; Grape Nuts Crunch
12:15pm: Turkey-n-Provolone on Wheat; Oatmeal on the Go Bar
3:30pm: 1 serving Waffle Pretzels w/Laughing Cow Light Wedge & Hummus; Cinnamon Pears
6:45pm: Meatloaf; Broccoli; Garbanzo beans; FF/SF Pudding
WORKOUT: TBK (60min); ABT (30min)
RESISTED: Mashed Potatoes w/dinner; More Pudding
Hey, you made it thru baseball season with your sanity intact! Sounds like your son's team is doing a great job. Have fun at the party & I hope your son's grounding gets terminated soon! (I always say the grounding is harder on the parents.) :teeth:
I'll have to try your cinamon pears - usually I put cinamon on my apples and ginger on my pears but maybe I should switch it up a bit!
Thanks for encouraging me on the exercise challenge.
Hey Amy...sorry I haven't been checking in lately...been hectic at my house....you know...you have children!! I can TOTALLY relate to having a grounded son....i don't know if mine will ever be un-grounded!! gonna be a looooong summer!!
You are also doing great on your food intake....i want to try the cinnamon pears too...that sounds cool and yummy!!
i also have to go back and find the recipie for chocolate oatmeal....sounds good too....
just send me a list of everything you eat, and recipies for all of it....except the cottage cheese stuff...(yuck).
take it easy and thanks for hanging with me on my journal!
Oh my, what a day! I was all set to go to the gym when DH called and said the dog had gotten out of his crate all day and as if that weren't bad enough, he had diahrrea all over the place... :crazy: He had to take DD to ballet, so instead of going to the gym I had to come home and clean up that disgusting mess (ALL over the house!) before DS's game. They crushed the other team 10-2. DS got another homerun. He only struck out once in 17 games, I am so proud of him. He was the most reliable hitter on the whole team. And afterwards we went to a pizza place for a party. The parents surprised us with a gift certificate to Outback (you know that won't go to waste!). It was nice, until we got back at 9:30pm and walked into a cloud of stench. Poor Buckley had several accidents in his crate. After getting him and the crate all hosed off, we went to bed. However, since I had 2 huge cups of DC at the party, I was not able to fall asleep until after midnight... :guilty: And of course I woke up at 5am to the dog having more accidents in his crate. Needless to say I am at home, cleaning up. The poor thing won't even eat, and for a beagle, that is serious business! Foodwise was OK, I overindulged in pizza and cookies, but c'est la vie! I am going to try to make up some exercise minutes today. I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups tea, a Peach Fresca and about 24oz of DC :hyper:
6:20am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Grapes
11:45am: Pork Chop; Broccoli; Banana
2:15pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Apple
5:15pm: 100 Calorie Pack (Chips Ahoy)
8:15pm: Cheese Pizza (2 huge slices); 2 Large Cookies
WORKOUT: None :sad2:
RESISTED: Another cookie, more pizza
Jane, they actually make canned cinnamon pears, but I haven't been able to find them. So now I get the Carb Clever ones and put cinnamon on them. DS loves it too. His team finished 11-5-1. Not bad! And I felt so good for DH since some of the kids and parents were asking if he would be coaching again next year. That is the ultimate compliment!
Marie, let me know if you can't find the recipe, I can PM it to you. I think I posted it somewhere in my journal, but I can't remember. Kids can drive you nuts, I know! But you can get through this. Have you contacted any tutoring places for this summer?
Beth, they won, they won! :cheer2:
So sorry you are having a rough spell right now with everything. :grouphug: With the scale, you really are in such great shape and eating so well. The scale may not show it, but you have got to be so healthy for the longterm now. :banana: With DS ... DD just got ungrounded (turned WA state report in last week, oral presentation today). Of course, we had to run to the store at 7 am this morning to buy 29 apples for the oral report. She had thought she would take in slices .... uh, no, nasty by 10 am .... guess I am having apple slices for every meal today! :rotfl2: Everyone says the teenage years are hard. This past 5th grade year has been brutal! Hang in there. You are not alone.
Hopefully the dog will be better soon. I don't envy you that one. At least you get to be home alone. Go for a hard workout and vent some of your frustration! :furious: Things will get better soon.
Thanks for all of your encouragement in my journal. It really does make a world of difference for me!
Hi Amy,
I am so sorry about Buckley! I hope he feels better soon, for his sake as well as yours! Dogs just get that sometimes, maybe he ate something out in the yard. When they do that in the crate, kinda makes you just want to take it to the nearest dumster and get a new one huh? :rotfl2:
Two pieces of cheese pizza and a couple of cookies never killed anybody, so don't worry about that, you could have done much, much worse at a pizza place. I am the voice of experience on that one, believe me! Hope Buckley is better!
Amy
Thats exactly what my dog had wrong with her last week. We went to the vet but couldn't find anything wrong. Xrays only revealed a very irritated digestive system (plus arthritis on her spine). They gave her shots, a prescription & a special diet. $300 later and she's in perfect health. We didn't know if she ate something horrible or maybe theres a doggie virus making the rounds. I hope your dog gets feeling better. Poor baby.
As you can see I'm awake at an unusual time. Our phone just woke me up ringing - by the time I got to it - the caller had hung up. I checked caller id and did not recognize the # - it was from out of state but now I can't sleep - my heart was beating a mile a minute - I hate late night phone calls!
Congrats on ds homerun! :thumbsup2 Sounds like he had a great season.
Hi there Amy,
YEAH!!! Your son's team won!!! That is great!
Sorry to hear that your furbaby is not feeling well..how is he today? Poor thing. And poor you for having to clean up after him.
Keep up the great work!
Have a great day :)
