AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

I behaved much better yesterday. :cool1: Again there were GS cookies (every possible kind) in the breakroom, not to mention the guy I bought my 1 box from brought a couple more boxes in for sale. But I didn’t eat a single one and didn’t buy another box! And there was nothing left at home to binge on, so I survived… I am not going to lie, it was a STRUGGLE to stay away from the junk in the breakroom. It was like I was obsessed with it or something. I wonder if it is just PMS or if I need some kind of medical intervention... :crazy:

March is going to fly by for me. I am going to attempt 1200 minutes for the exercise challenge, I hope I can do it with cruising and surgery taking up a good chunk of the month. I am going on the cruise with every intention of working out, but I am not going to beat myself up if I don’t. I am also going to try to stick to my plan of only eating breakfast, dinner (w/dessert) and fruit throughout the day if I get hungry. I am even going to take a box of Balance Bars with me and have those for “lunch”. Again, that is the plan, which is subject to change… My goal is to come back the same weight I was when I left. If I can do that, I can do anything! :cheer2: I drank 100oz of water; 2 cups green tea; a DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken; Wheat Spaghetti; Cauliflower
3:00pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
4:45pm: Almonds (1.2oz)
6:45pm: Pork Roast (crockpot); Red Potato; Carrots; EFL Chocolate Mousse
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: GS Cookies in Breakroom

Jane, thanks, I needed that pep talk! I have moved on and I am at the same weight I was on Friday, so I have successfully undone all the damage... :rolleyes:

As for the mousse, that was quite an experiment! The first cup (which makes 2 servings, so I split it into 2 cups) was very runny, like a shake. The second cup (which I had last night) was still runny, so I added 2 spoons of Cool Whip Free and it was DELICIOUS! So I looked back at the recipe and noticed it said to use Cool Whip Light, not Free, which might account for some of the consistency problems. It also said to use 1 packet of Myoplex and I just used 1 scoop of protein powder. So last night I made a batch of Vanilla Mousse, but used 2 scoops of protein powder (since it makes 2 servings) and I checked it this morning and it actually looks like mousse consistency! So I think that is the trick - 2 scoops of protein powder and let it set overnight.

Marie, thanks for stopping by! I need all the encouragement I can find. I am great at encouraging others, but fail to encourage myself... :confused3 You are right, today starts a brand new month!

Amy, thanks for the tip on the chocolate mousse. It sounds like my kind of dessert. The shrimp scampi was delicious. Its great having new recipes to try.

I can't believe that your cruise is coming up soon. You've got a busy month ahead of you. So sorry that you've got all those cookie fiends to contend with at work. I'd hate to have to face that every single day. Hang in there!!

Chocolate Oatmeal, the mousse, and the taco pasta salad are some of my favorite recipes. YUM!!!!

The EFL Vanilla Mousse was SO good! :love: I think I will be making this and the chocolate version a couple times a week… I ate it shortly after dinner and it filled me up so I was not hungry for the rest of the night. I was smart enough to separate it into 2 servings when I made it – I could easily have eaten it all. I have one serving left for tonight – yum! Yesterday was a really good day – no temptations in the breakroom, which was nice. Got my workout in, even though I was exhausted. Stupid TOM arrived early again. It’s only been 19 days since the last one ended (and that one dragged on for 12 days)! So much for the pill regulating things... Can’t wait for my surgery to put an end to all this nonsense! I drank 100oz of water; 2 cups green tea; a DC:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Turkey Medallions w/Mustard on Wheat; Carrots
2:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Apple
5:30pm: Pecans (1/8c)
6:30pm: EFL Shrimp Scampi; Broccoli; EFL Vanilla Mousse
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (25min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: Almonds; Ice Cream

Jane, the 2 scoops of protein powder did the trick for the mousse. I can't wait to try the chocolate again now that I know how to make it right! I looked up the info for Myoplex Lite and sure enough, the packets are 56g/190cal and 1 scoop of my protein powder is only 22g/80cal. I am in the single digits for my cruise! I can't believe it!!!!! :hyper:

Beth, I can't wait to try a couple more recipes. So far I have only been disappointed once. What are some other ones you like?

THanks for the warning about the protein powder for the mousse recipe. I might have gotten so discouraged that I wouldn't have even tried to figure out where I went wrong. Congrats on eating so well yesterday. You will be in great shape for that cruise!

Hi Amy,

Just a quick hi! and hope you're doing ok today. You're cruise is getting so close- bet you're excited!! :goodvibes

Hi Amy,

I am a little late, but congrats on making your Feb exercise challenge!!! You are so good at doing that.

Way to go on resisting the cookies in the breakroom and buying more from the guy that had them for sale. This is always a tough time for me. I love GS cookies.....

You are doing a great job, even with a few little slip ups! Keep it up. You are going to look great on your cruise!!!

Happy Friday!

I was extremely snacky last night. I think it all started with not bringing enough lunch (I only brought about ½ portion of scampi and it was definitely NOT enough food…). I didn’t do any major binge-type stuff, but more like taste-testing… Over the course of the evening I had 3 LF Lemon GS Cookies, 10 Cheetos, 2 bites of ice cream, 2 small handfuls of cereal… I’m blaming it on the caramels that I should have NEVER had at lunch! Today I will not eat any candy at work. :cheer2:

We are going out tomorrow to Outback for martinis and dinner with some friends. I am going to make Saturday my free day this week. That is the smart thing to do! One week from today we will be on a plane to Orlando! I am getting really excited. :yay: :hyper: DH and I are going to Target tonight to get a couple things for the cruise (I hope we can find some beach toys for the kids) and make sure all our ducks are in a row. I got a notarized letter from my ex since we are taking the kids out of the country. Of course he made a stink about it but his wife works in the airline industry and she told him to shut up and do it. I got in my 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea and DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: Lara Bar (I had bought 2, thankfully this was the last one)
11:45am: Leftover Shrimp Scampi; Carrots; 5 Caramels
3:00pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Apple
5:00pm: Almonds (1.2oz)
6:30pm: Turkey Burrito w/Wheat Tortilla; Romaine-n-Celery w/1tbsp LF Dressing; EFL Vanilla Mousse; Taste-Testers :guilty:
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min)
RESISTED: More candy from boss’s jar (I should have known better)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, that mousse is so good, I know you'll love it!
Kate, I don't think excited really describes it. I don't know how I'll make it through the next week!
Jamie, thanks! The GS cookies are the worst, but I have been doing OK with them. I still have not even opened the box of Samoas (my favorite) but I might have a couple tomorrow on my free day. Portion control is the key!
Have fun getting ready for your cruise! Sounds like your ex's wife knocked some sense into him. Its a nightmare getting everything ready without having personality differences. When we went on our cruise I had to order another birth certificate. I couldn't find mine anywhere. I even phoned mom to see if she had it. She told me she didn't. 3 mos after our cruise I went with Mom to her safety deposit box, and it was in there! Of course, I grabbed it and brought it home. She had a fit. She kept saying - "well its safe in here - we've never lost it!!!" Of course we couldn't find it either. She must've had it since I got married over 26 years ago!
Glad that your stuff is organized - looks like you'll have smooth sailing!
Beware of those GS cookies!
Well, once again I got sidetracked with my plans. :rolleyes1 We were doing great - dropped the kids off with their dad then headed to Trader Joe's and Target. The plan was to go home, cook some salmon and watch a movie. On the way home from Target some friends called and wanted us to join them for dinner. After much hmm-ing and hah-ing we decided to go. We ended up at Chili's and I had 2 huge margaritas. And of course when we got home I was craving sweets and had a couple cookies. So the cycle continues... Today is my free day and I am going to pretend like it's not and eat healthy throughout the day, then just eat sensibly (and have martinis) at Outback tonight. I am not going to the kickboxing class today since it hurt my feet so much last time, but I have to at least go to the gym and do weights and cardio. Yesterday I drank 90oz of water; 2 cups green tea; a DC and 2 margaritas:
6:15am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Turkey Wheat Burrito; Carrots
2:45pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
4:30pm: Almonds (1.2oz); Blueberry Bran Cake; 3 LF Lemon GS Cookies
7:00pm: Buffalo Chicken Salad w/maybe 1tsp LF Ranch; 2 Macaroons; 1 GS Cookie
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Baskin Robbins (right next to Chili's)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, we got the kids passports and I had to have the ex sign a form for that too. Luckily I get along really well with his wife... I have been doing remarkably good with the GS cookies, all things considered. Last year all 3 boxes would have been eaten within days of arriving. Not so this year! See, it IS possible to teach an old dog new tricks... :rolleyes2

Mmmmmmm margaritas Mmmmmmmmm! I need to have one soon. Are you all packed and ready for the cruise?

YIKES, another well-used free day! I kinda like having my free day on Saturday instead of Sunday! When I get back from the cruise I think I will incorporate that, since I will be starting BFL over... I got so busy I never made it to the gym yesterday. :guilty: We packed 90% of the stuff for the cruise, I can't wait! I am going to be totally worthless at work this week. Because unless someone is delivering me a tropical drink or has the sound of the ocean coming out of their mouth, I am not interested... :teeth: I was SO excited because at Target, on the clearance endcap, I found 3 2-packs of my favorite Chai Latte mix (the stuff they use at Starbucks). They were marked down to $5.95 each (and I had paid that much for a single carton at Starbucks). So I bought all 3. I gave my friend one, but now I have 4 cartons! That will last me a long time since I only drink it on the weekends! :cloud9: I only got in 80oz of water yesterday, plus 16oz NF Chai Latte, 4 martinis, 1 Amaretto-n-Diet Coke :blush: :

7:30am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Blueberry Bran Cake; 1 thin slice Pumpkin Bread
11:00am: Kashi Crunch; FF Yogurt
1:40pm: Grilled Ham-n-Cheddar; Almonds (1.2oz); 1 thin slice Pumpkin Bread
3:30pm: Goldfish (1 serving); Celery-n-PB
5:30pm: Bread-n-Butter (2); Coconut Shrimp (3); Baked Potato Soup (cup)
8:30pm: Samoa GS Cookies (5); Macaroon
10:30pm: Huge bowl of Pumpkin Ice Cream :rolleyes:
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Nothing :rolleyes1

Beth, I am surprised DH didn't think I was crazy for packing so early, but I think secretly he is as excited as I am!

Good luck focusing at work this week!!! I hope it flys by for you. Maybe you can expend some of that extra energy in your workouts. :yay:

I don't think 1 week out is too early to pack at all. And unpack and repack. And obsess that you've missed something and unpack again only to find it at the bottom of the suitcase...but enough about me. I'm excited for you!!

I've decided I have to stay off the cruise forum - I get so excited I can’t function at work… :bitelip: :hyper: :tongue: :hyper2: Unfortunately I think my mindset is in a bad place. Basically I think that since I have not succeeded in getting where I want to be weight-wise and that I know I am going to be not eating that great all next week I think it is OK to not behave with my food as much. NOT TRUE! I need to really watch what I am eating these next couple days before I go. ::yes:: My pants were fitting a little snug and I hate that feeling… :guilty: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 16oz NF Chai Latte, a Minute Maid Light and ½ of a DC:

8:30am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Blueberry Bran Cake
12:15pm: Wheat Pita w/Hummus (1/4c); FF Cottage Cheese
3:15pm: Egg Whites (4); Blueberry Bran Cake
6:15pm: Salmon; Sweet Potato; Yellow Squash; GS Cookies (2) :confused3
8:30pm: EFL Chocolate Mousse; Apple Jacks (1/2c) :confused3
WORKOUT: Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min)
RESISTED: More GS Cookies; Almonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heather, thanks for making me feel more normal about my packing techniques! I'm glad I'm not the only one... DH was actually driving me nuts with the whole "I don't know what to pack" nonsense. So I had to help him make sure he had something for every dinner, plus something for every day... Men! :rolleyes:
Hi Amy!!!!
Good luck with work this week....I know how you feel...I get the same way when it is time to vacation!!!!
I am with Heather, I don't think packing 1 week before you go is bad.....My DMIL is already packed for our vacation.....we aren't going until August!!!!! So no, 1 week is not bad at all!!!!
Hope you are having a great day! Keep up the good work!
Looks like you're doing a great job with eating today. Congrats on getting packed. I usually pack about 2 nights before we leave. Dh packs about 2 seconds before. What a nice wife you are packing for your husband. I hope that he appreciates you!
Amy, I know that you are determined about getting in shape. I predict you'll get a handle on your eating & your snug pants will be loose by the time your trip comes around. Just think of all the calories you can burn on the dance floor. :boat:
Amy, just try to stay calm this week ( :rotfl2: ) I know I'd be so hyper, but mostly, just enjoy your cruise. As in, don't stress over the eating, just have a good time and try to be somewhat sensible.
You've done well so far, and you can get back into the routine with a lot of determination when you get back.
Have a good day! :sunny:
Hi there,
Just wanted to pop in and say hi :wave:
I bet you are so excited....I know I would be...one day closer!!!!
Keep up the good work! You are doing great
I got to the gym, even though I was exhausted (thanks TOM, I definitely won’t miss you after my surgery!). There were tons of GS cookies in the breakroom (yes, AGAIN) and I swear, it drives me nuts! :furious: If I don’t see them, I am fine. But there is something about just “knowing” that there are cookies in there that destroys all my best intentions. I really had to talk myself out of eating “just one” because I knew if I ate one I would crave more and my mind would never relent until I ate more, then I would feel bad about eating them in the first place… So it’s better to not eat any to begin with. :rolleyes: It’s so pathetic – I wish I could just tell myself “you don’t need it” and walk away instead of these torturous mind games that consume my every thought… :crazy: I didn’t do great when I got home, but I’ve done way worse before… Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea and a Diet Pepsi (yuck):
6:15am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:00am (@class): Turkey-n-Provolone w/Mustard on Wheat; Carrots
2:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Blueberry Bran Cake
5:00pm: Beef Jerky (it was lower in calories than the almonds I wanted!)
6:30pm: Turkey Fiesta Pie (1/8 of a 9” pie); Broccoli; FF Yogurt
8:30pm: LF Lemon GS Cookies; Honey Nut Cheerios (1/4c)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED: Cookies and Chips @ class; GS Cookies; Almonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie, I never thought the anticipation would be this unbearable!!! I am SO ready for this trip! :yay: :cool1: :banana: :Pinkbounc And for some reason I am the only one in the family acting like a total kook about it... :blush:

Jane, thanks for that! I know I am doing the best I can with working out and as soon as I get the eating under control - watch out, I'm going to be in awesome shape! :cheer2:

Kate, thanks! You are right - I need to stop stressing about food and just live it up! DH and I already talked about working out while onboard. That is great, because now I will actually do it!

You're not alone! I'm the same way with GS cookies or chocolate or pizza. Just knowing its there kills me. However, two years ago I could have eaten a whole box in one day. I am eating less junk this year - it just sounds like alot compared to everyone else!! :guilty: Your beef jerky snack made me :laughing: Fortunately that doesn't tempt me - dh keeps it in the house ALL the time. Thank God I have an aversion to it! Great job resisting the cookies & chips. My work is the same way and I don't always do as well with the resisting part.
