AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

They're really putting you thru the wringer with this name change. There's just too much red tape to deal with. I hope this gets solved sooner rather than later.

Sorry to hear you were hungry after dinner. I bet you're right about the small portion size. Great job resisting more creme savers.

I was still a little hungry after dinner yesterday, but I kept myself busy and didn’t give into temptation! I am getting used to that 8:30pm snack I guess…Work has been hectic. I have been making my lunchtime walks a priority and have gone every work day this year! :cheer2: I didn’t do Pilates yesterday by choice, I think I might give myself Tues and Thu off. I will be hitting the gym today and I will be sure to do an exercise DVD both tomorrow and Sunday. I am still at 135, and my jeans fit really nice this morning! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, DC; Minute Maid Light:

6:10am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken (3oz); Sweet Potato (1/2); Tomato
3:30pm: Egg Whites (4); FF Yogurt; Almonds (10)
6:30pm: Ground Turkey (4oz); Wheat Tortilla; ½ Tomato; Lettuce
8:30pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Pilates (55min)
RESISTED: Crème Savers; Sour Cream on my burrito

Beth, I am still no closer with SS, but at least I will be getting another copy of my marriage license to change my name on other things. I don't remember it being this much of a hassle last time I got married!

Jane, almost done with Week #2!!! We are not going anywhere this weekend, so I will have no temptations tonight or tomorrow (like last weekend when I went out to eat twice...) I was trying to think of what I would splurge on for Sunday and I couldn't even think of anything. I'm going to try to behave - I got the "I am eating it because I CAN" out of my system last weekend when I overdosed on chocolate. I can't see myself doing that again - I want to be 134 or less at next Wednesday's weigh-in!

You're doing an amazing job with your eating this week! With all of this dedication you're going to hit 134 next week. It won't be long!

I know what you mean about not wanting to go out to eat. I haven't been to Chili's for a Long Island Iced Tea & chicken fajita nachos since the new year. Thats some kind of a record for us!

We're almost finished with this week!

WOW, it looks like BFL is really working for you! I bet you will be under 130 soon. That is so exciting!!

Wow, keep up the good work! Sounds like BFL is really successful for you! :sunny:

I don't know why, but the past couple days I've felt more hungry than when I first started. I think I need to up my protein portions for my 2:30 snack (plus I have that long 4hr gap, which doesn't help!). But I have been sticking with it! This is usually the time I lose interest and revert back to old ways. But not this time! I weighed 134 this morning and I am SO happy about it! :banana: Even if I lose 1 lb a week, I will be thrilled. ::yes:: I need to do an exercise DVD as soon as I am done posting (or else I won't get it done!) and I plan on doing one tomorrow as well. I seem to be losing all my weight on top, which is NOT where I need to be losing! I don't have anything to spare, if you know what I mean... :rolleyes1 But I know I have to be patient and eventually I will start losing in my butt and legs. It will be worth the wait! I passed the halfway point on my exercise challenge!!! :goodvibes That feels wonderful. Yesterday I drank 100oz water, 2 cups green tea, DC, Minute Maid Light:

6:15am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken (3oz); Sweet Potato (1/2); Tomato
2:30pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
5:30pm: Almonds (12)
6:30pm: Pork Chop (2oz); Brown Rice (3/4c); Cauliflower (1c); Creme Saver (1)
9:15pm: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED: More Almonds, Tootsie Rolls (they were calling my name and I ALMOST caved in!)

Jane, it's the last day of Week #2! I am so proud that we both stuck to it for this long! I bet after Week #3 it will be second nature and the rest of the weeks will be a breeze. Now I just have to come up with a plan not to sabotage all my hard work on my cruise... I plan on eating a big breakfast, skipping lunch (maybe grabbing some fruit for a midday snack) and eating 1/2 of my dinner. And never take the elevator! :teeth:

Heather and Kate, thanks! I am so determined to succeed with this plan, I think it makes it even easier to stick to! When I am at a steady 133 I can finally claim my first 5lb clippie!!! We'll have to throw a party when that happens!

I did great yesterday until some friends came over to watch the game... Foodwise I was OK, but I did have 3 glasses of wine. :confused3 I used to have the biggest crush on Jake Plummer when he played for ASU and the Cardinals. What happened to you Jake?!?! Shave and get a haircut for cryin' out loud!!!!!!!!!! The kids and I rode our bikes to the park (where they played for 30min) and took a little ride around the block on the way back. I am not counting it as exercise because it was maybe 10 minutes of riding and riding with a 6 year old does not equate to strenuous exercise... But it was fun and DD already asked me if we could go on a bike ride today. :teeth: I've already had a sugar overload for my free day breakfast. My stomach is telling me just how bad of an idea that was. I don't think I will be eating again for several hours - I am stuffed! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, a Fresca, 3 glasses white wine:

7:45am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
10:30am: Balance Bar
12:45pm: Salmon (6oz); Sweet Potato (1/2); Cauliflower (1c)
3:10pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple w/Cinnamon; Almonds (10)
6:00pm: Meatloaf (4oz); Mashed Potatoes (1/2c); Zucchini (1c); Creme Saver (1)
9:00pm: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c)
WORKOUT: Cardio Sculpt DVD (45min)
RESISTED: Ice Cream, Chips-n-Salsa

Great job great job great job!!

How did the free day go?

Hi Amy,

I so hear you on Jake Plummer.....don't really know what he is thinking....the local news is always making fun of him because he can't get a shave and a hair cut!!!!

You are doing a great job with your plan!

Keep up the great work!

I definitely took advantage of my free day yesterday! I am a little irritated because the scale was up 1lb Sunday morning (from the wine, I'm sure - no biggie) plus 2 more lbs this morning! I know it is all water because I can barely get my ring off and when I did it left a big indentation in my finger. I've eaten way more junk in the past and not gained 2 lbs because of it... I am going to try to sweat it off at the gym - I've already done my Pilates Sculpt DVD (that I should have done yesterday...). Yesterday DD and I went on a bike ride to the park, then to the school, and she played a little bit at each place. She was riding pretty good, I actually got to pedal the entire time. When I went to the store, DH took the kids to the school to practice baseball with DS and the kids wanted to ride their bikes. So DH drove (he had all the equipment) and I guess when DD got there she "forgot" her bike has brakes and she slammed into his truck! :eek: The handlebars hit her neck and it looked like someone tried to strangle her. I'll probably get the school calling me tomorrow asking what the heck happened... :confused: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, a DC, and a grande NF chai latte (yum!):

8:45am: 2 bowls Cookie Crisp; Strawberry Danish
1:00pm: Grilled Ham-n-Provolone Sandwich; Goldfish (1 serving); Hershey's Kisses (3)
4:15pm: Apple w/Caramel Dip; 100 Cal Pack; 1/2 Chocolate Covered Donut
6:30pm: Homemade Turkey Pepperoni Pizza (4 small slices); Almonds (20)
8:00pm: Ice Cream (1c)
WORKOUT: None except ~15 minutes of non-strenuous bike riding
RESISTED: Nothing, it was my free day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beth, as you can see, the free day didn't go so well. Oh well, eventually I will start eating better on Sundays!
Jamie, I bet Jake has some superstition that they will keep winning as long as he doesn't shave or cut his hair... I actually want them to go all the way now that Indianapolis is out.
Sounds like you were busy this weekend. Is your daughter feeling ok - that crash sounded traumatic! Its always bad when they fall down, get hurt & have the marks to show for it!
Your workout minutes are amazing this month too. It won't be long until you hit that elusive 133! You're going to look great for your cruise!
I did great yesterday in the eating and exercising department. I am going to vent now - I HATE MY BODY!!!!! I weighed in at 136 this morning. I am SO sick of the water retention and doing all the right things and still gaining weight. It's like my body does not want to get below 135. This is why I usually do great for 2-3 weeks, then when my body starts getting stupid and putting lbs back on, I get frustrated and quit because nothing I do is working. I will not quit doing BFL, but I am really ticked off right now. :sad: :mad: :sad: :mad: Yesterday I actually got in 120oz of water, a Fresca and a Minute Maid Light:
8:00am: Egg beaters; Oatmeal
10:00am: Zone Bar
12:45pm: Turkey (2oz); Brown Rice; Carrots (10 baby)
3:30pm: Apple w/Cinnamon; FF Cottage Cheese
6:30pm: Chicken (3oz); Sweet Potato; Broccoli; Creme Saver (1)
WORKOUT: Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min); Weights (25min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: Nothing, wasn't hungry
Jane, YAY we are in Week #3!!!!!!! I am proud of myself for sticking to the program for 2 whole weeks, thanks for helping me stay on track! :hug: My DD is fine, her neck just looks really bad...
I know how you feel! My scale still hasn't shown 134! It's seriously been more than a year since I was 134.
I don't know what to tell you. Just keep keeping on is my only advice since that's what I tell myself. And really this way of eating has other benefits besides weight loss (more energy, healthier, etc). And I've noticed a big difference in how I look naked and how I wear clothes, so that's worth it to me to keep going. I'm sure your clothes are fitting differently now too!
You can do it!
Amy, you've been doing a great job. Don't get discouraged. You're looking great in your clothes & they fit! When I got down to the 130's the last time I got stuck. I hit about 136 and couldn't seem to get any lower. At that time I had heel spurs and was told by my doctor I had to quit jogging (which I love). With the foundation of my workout program gone, I just gave up and let everything go. The next time I looked at the scales I weighed 180lbs. Just think - it can ALWAYS get worse. Hang in there, even if you're stuck, at least you're stuck at a good weight.
I was SO stressed out yesterday! :worried: I had a Dr appt with a new Dr and when I got there, not only was I at the old office (which was dark and locked), but my appointment was LAST Wednesday… So I wasted an hour off work for nothing. I didn’t do great on my dinner last night. I had Lite Smoked Sausage w/potatoes, onions, peas, cream of celery and cheddar cheese soup. It was a crockpot scalloped potatoes kinda dish. I just had a small portion, but I know sausage and cream soups are not on the approved BFL list. I did not want to eat something else in front of the kids because I don’t want to give my DD the impression that I think I am fat (since I am not medically overweight, just mentally… :crazy: ) and the rule in our house is you eat what I make, no special orders. I usually try to stick with dinners I can eat, but I have been getting bored with the same ole stuff and I’m sure the rest of the family would agree… ::yes:: My official weigh-in was 136. :sad1: I bet I am the only person on the face of the planet that can actually GAIN weight while doing BFL. I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, DC, Minute Maid Light:
6:15am: Egg Beaters (w/a pinch of cheddar); Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:45pm: Pork Chop (2oz); Brown Rice (3/4c); Carrots (8 baby)
3:30pm: Apple; Egg Whites (4)
6:30pm: Sausage-n-Potatoes-n-Peas (1.5c)
9:15pm: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (50min)
RESISTED: Cookies in breakroom
Allison, thanks. My clothes are fitting better and I am not as flabby as I used to be, so I need to focus on that. I still don't look as good in my bikini as I would like, but I have 7 weeks from now until the cruise, so I will just have to work extra hard!
Jane, it is so hard to not get discouraged. I have just been really bummed about things the last week or so, I don't know what my problem is, but I hope I snap out of it soon! Thanks for the kind words and you are right. According to all the charts I am not even considered overweight, so I should be happy about that. ;)
I'm sorry you had such a stressed out day yesterday. Sometimes its one thing after another. And the harder you try the worse it gets!
I know what you mean about running out of BFL recipes. I think I just drank shakes on Monday because I couldn't think of anything to fix for dinner. In the book he only gives 3 days worth of menus and that's not really going to get anyone very far. I love his idea of a plain baked potato. Yah, like I'm going to eat that. For backup I keep a stirfry that I found in our frozen veggie dept - Contessa chicken stir fry. Its lowfat w/ chicken & veggies. I have it in the freezer in case I need something in a hurry. I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if its any good. I think they also make a shrimp stir fry too. Don't give up - you've got 7 more weeks for that cruise!
GOOD NEWS! I finally got my confirmation of name change from SS!!! :cool1: Next week I am going to get my DL and bank accounts changed and I can finally get my name changed at work!!! I did have the tiniest bite of DD’s cookie (we’re talking 1 chip, probably ¼” piece) but other than that I was right on target. I really wanted to grab a handful of cereal after dinner, but I didn’t! :banana: My weight was back down to 135 this morning. I am going to have to behave on Sunday so I don’t gain any more. I don’t know if it was from too many bad carbs or what, but I want to be at least below 130 for my cruise! I didn’t make it to the gym yesterday because DD had a hair appointment. It looks so cute! I will be going today and Saturday to get my 3x in this week. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, a DC and a Minute Maid Light:
6:15am: Egg Beaters (w/a pinch of cheddar); Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:45pm: Chicken (3oz); Brown Rice (3/4c); Carrots (10 baby)
2:30pm: Apple; FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c)
6:30pm: Chicken (3oz); Wheat Spaghetti (1/2c)
8:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies from the neighbor, Chocolate Lucky Charms
Jane, have you looked at the BFL website lately? They have a bunch of recipes on there. I need to take some time and try some out for dinner. I don't mind having the same stuff for breakfast and lunch, but I need to keep dinners rotated for the sake of the kids! I am feeling better about things now. We are going to a friend's house tomorrow and she wants to order pizza and I'm sure alcohol will be involved. I am going to eat before we leave, avoid the pizza and munchies, take a DC and not have any cocktails. I have to if I want to make my cruise goal!
Keep it up Amy! You'll be in your bikini in no time!
Have you incorporated any of the BFL workouts into your routine?
YEAH YEAH YEAH on the SS finally confirming your name change. WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!! *Happy Dance*
Many of the recipes on the BFL site are absolutely delicious!!! I haven't tried them all *of course* but I've only had one or two duds from all of them. :)
Amy, how on earth did you resisit a chocolate chip cookie? Thats one of my big temptations. I know there's no way I could take a bite with just one chip. Great job!! :cheer2: Have fun tonight. Its hard to resist when your at someone's house & they have pizza AND alcohol! Double whammy.
With all of the recipes we should be able to make it thru our 12 weeks.
