AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Great job on the eating. :cheer2: The chix & turkey from Schwans sounds great. Its nice to have everything already portioned. Reading your post reminded me that I actually resisted ice cream yesterday. I took my mom to a lab for bloodwork then afterwards we drove for icecream. I didn't get one! Its funny even while watching everyone else eat I didn't have any cravings for ice cream. Now I know why my mom is so thin. She ordered a small and couldn't finish it. She never made it to the cone. She does that everytime we go out for icecream.

Keep up the good work & stay away from the breakroom!

Well, I kinda strayed a little off course yesterday... :sad1: It wasn't TOO bad, but DH wanted to go to Outback, and I had 2 martinis. I did order food that was pretty close to what I should have been eating, but I should have skipped the martinis! I also had about 1oz of cheese that DD couldn't finish from her snack. :rolleyes: I paid for it by creeping back up to 137 this morning, but I am still so happy I lost 2 lbs this week, considering it's the week I usually gain a couple! I also didn't get my exercise DVD in (we watched Wedding Crashers instead :teeth: ) But so far today I've had a good BFL breakfast. And after I get through today, I have a free day tomorrow! I am not going to go overboard, but I already know I'm going to have Corn Pops for breakfast! :banana: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups of green tea, a can of DC, 2 martinis:

6:15am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:30am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Turkey Cutlet; Wheat Noodles (3/4c); Cauliflower (1c)
2:45pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Apple
4:00pm: Cheddar-Jack Cheese (1oz)
5:30pm: Citrus Chicken (4oz); Steamed Veggies (1c - no butter); 3 pieces Outback bread with a smidge of butter; Creme Savers (2)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: DD's candy bag from Christmas (mainly Hershey's kisses)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, great job resisting that ice cream! I think I would have a hard time doing that. I could never understand how people can eat only half of a dessert. If it's good, I am going to finish it even if my stomach explodes! Guess that's why I am now following BFL, huh?!? :rotfl:
Thanks for suggesting BFL. Its been a big motivator for me. I'm staying on program and doing my workouts. I was kind of lost over the holidays with workouts and eating. Now, I'm able to stay focused. I'm so glad you mentioned BFL because I never would have thought of it. We're almost finished with week 1!!! :banana:
You're eating has really improved. I bet next week you'll notice a big drop in weight!
WOW!! You are doing great!! Please enjoy your free day tomorrow...I'll bet you won't want to eat as much as you think you will. I do that sometimes, too...a day to eat whatever I want. It makes eating healthy the rest of the week much easier!
Thank you so much for your comments in my journal. Dealing with a child who is struggling is so much harder on the parents! I haven't gotten to the point where I have accepted it completely yet. It will take time, but I'll get through it! Thanks for your support!
Amy,
Wow you are doin such a great job staying on track with BFL. DH worked with a guy that did BFL and he lost over 60 pounds. I don't know if he was able to lose more, he was layed off and then moved so my DH lost contact with him. Good for you though!!!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Vegas. I love that place. My DH and I don't gamble but we love to go there. Just to walk around and watch people!!!!
Keep up the great work and have a wonderful Sunday!
Hmmm, I was doing fine yesterday until dinner. I am surrounded by BFL sabotagers! My friend (that just moved here from NY) wanted to see Brokeback Mountain and since DH said there was no way in he** he was going to see a movie about gay cowboys, we went yesterday. It was so depressing! :sad1: And of course we had to drive past a PF Changs and she just HAD to go there for dinner after the movie! But I did behave as much as I could. I did not get a single cocktail! :cool1: And I was dying to try a Bomb Pop Martini... I also got a dish without breaded chicken (and only ate 1/2) and of course chose brown rice. So really, besides the sauce in the dish, I had protein, veggies and a carb, which is in line with BFL. I was at 136 this morning, so I must not have screwed up too bad! I drank 80oz of water, at least 32oz of iced tea and a can of DC:
7:45am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
10:00am: Balance Bar
1:15pm: Egg Salad Sandwich (1 whole egg, 2 whites, 1tbsp FF mayo, mustard); Carrots (10 baby)
6:30pm: Mango Chicken (1/2 order); Brown Rice (3/4c)
8:15pm: Lettuce Wrap (that we brought back for DH); Kraft Caramel (1)
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: Movie theater popcorn; cocktails; Hershey's Kisses; Ice cream :banana:
Jane, I am SO glad you decided to take the BFL challenge with me! It is great that you are able to stick with it. You are a big motivator in keeping me on track. We can do it! :teeth:
Karyn, I know you will get through this tough time with DS. It took me a LONG time to finally accept the situation with my DS and realize that it is going to be the same and there is nothing I can do about it. You are right about the free day. I had my Corn Pops for breakfast like I wanted to and I also had pudding! But I plan on being reasonable since I don't want to screw up all the hard work I accomplished this week!
Jamie, I've heard lots of BFL success stories, that is so inspirational! I like Vegas. I like gambling and fortunately I am one of those people who can set aside an amount for that purpose and when it is gone, I am done. People watching is interesting. A lot of people are :scared: and :crazy2: and :eek: and you wonder if they bothered looking in a mirror before they left the house...
Congrats on making it thru the first week!!! :banana: :banana:
We did it! Its such a relief to have made it thru the first week. I'm dying to see how much I weigh. I went to my neighbor's after brunch today, and everyone was commenting on how thin I look. It made me feel great - I didn't realize how noticable it was. Congrats on losing 3lbs!
Congratulations on week 1 being done!!!! Enjoy your free day today. :) I live for the free days although I've noticed I no longer go bonkers on them like I did in April when we started.
Yesterday was DEFINITELY a free day! I ate all kinds of chocolate. Was it worth it? Not really... All I felt was bloated and gross. I think I was eating it more because I could, not because I wanted it. I think as time goes on I will not even eat too much junk on Sundays. I wasn't craving anything specific, which was SO nice! Plus there is just not that much interesting junk in the house... DH grilled up a bunch of chicken this weekend, so I am set for the week! I am excited to start Week #2! Yesterday I did drink 100oz of water, a can of DC and a glass of white wine:
7:30am: Corn Pops & Skim Milk; Pudding
10:00am: A brownie/cookie square (2"x2"x1") at the grocery store
11:45am: The rest of my Mango Chicken w/Brown Rice (3/4c); Hershey's Kisses (3)
2:30pm: Apple w/Caramel Dip; Goldfish (1 serving); Hershey's Kisses (3)
5:00pm: Pecans (1/2c); Creme Savers (2); Mini M&Ms (fun size)
6:45pm: Chicken (3oz); Brown Rice (3/4c); Squash (1c); Butterfinger (1/2 fun size); Graham Frosting Sandwiches (2)
WORKOUT: NONE!
RESISTED: I did not get the monster-sized cookie at the grocery store, I chose the bite-sized square!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, YIPPEE!!!! Are you as excited to start Week #2 as I am?!?!? I know I will be able to behave this Friday and Saturday because we have the kids so we won't be tempted to go out anywhere... ;)

Beth, I think I am with you. I won't be intentionally going overboard on Sundays, it just isn't worth it! I did it this week just to see what it was like and I think I can live without the chocolate-fest in the future. Usually I don't have this much chocolate in the house - I had just thrown out all the Halloween candy when the kids brought home a bunch of Christmas candy...

I think your choices (besides the chocolate splurges) were relatively good. Especially lunch and dinner.

Have you noticed a difference on the scale or in your clothes yet? I'm sure you will, you're so dedicated!

Looks like you're definately ready for week 2! You're ahead of the game with the chicken already grilled for the week. I did that last week, & it was very convenient. I think today I'm going to try chili w/ground turkey breast. I see you got to have your corn pops for breakfast on Sunday! I was worried that your son was going to eat the whole box before you got a chance for your bowl. One week down & 11 more to go!

Glad to hear you had a great time in Vegas! Reading some of your posts reminded me of my BFL book. I may have to revisit the exercise portion of that book.

Sounds like you are doing well. Keep up the good work!!! :flower:

It felt great to get back to healthy eating! And I got to the gym. I should be able to make it at least 3x this week. I am having the WORST time trying to get my name changed! It has been 5 weeks since I got married and I called SS to see why I haven’t gotten my new card yet (my work will not change my name until I get my new card) and they don’t even have it changed! I told her I mailed my ORIGINAL marriage license on Dec 5 and she said that the office I mailed it to should have returned it by now… Then she gave me the number to the local office here and of course after going through the computer BS it just rings and rings and rings (I let it ring for over 5 minutes). I called 3 different times and got the same result every time. So not only can I not change my name at work, I have no proof that I even got married and can’t change my name on anything else (driver’s license, bank stuff, etc)! And I can’t wait to start the nightmare with taxes if I have 2 different names all over the place… ARGH!!!!!!! I had 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, DC, Minute Maid Light Lemonade:

6:10am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken (3oz); Wheat Spaghetti (3/4c); Peas (3/4c)
2:30pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
6:30pm: Salmon (3oz); Sweet Potato (1/2); Broccoli (1c); 2 Mini M&M’s that DD6 crammed into my mouth with her slimy fingers
8:30pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED: More Mini M&M’s

Allison, I have lost 3 lbs since I started. I don't usually notice a change in my clothes until I get down to the 133 range (which is still 3 lbs away...). I do notice that I am not hungry all day and craving junk anymore, which is the best part!

Jane, I did get to eat the last bowl of Corn Pops!! :banana: They were so good. We don't have any interesting cereals for this weekend so I guess I'll have to think of something else for breakfast on Sunday... :scratchin

Cindy, I am still doing my regular workouts since I was seeing results. I told myself that if I don't continue seeing results I would try the BFL workout. But for now I am just sticking with the eating part.

Great job! I was telling my DH this morning how good it felt to be back on program 100% and eating the meals and having things planned out in advance. That's what rocks the most is the knowing what I'm going to fix instead of trying to figure it out at dinner time.

Good luck with the name change nightmare. I got married in July and I am still trying to get my name changed on some accounts like cable and utilities. I work when they're open and can't quite make it at lunch. I've tried but they've had a line out the door which has me out the door because it's not Disney and I'm not waiting. :)

Sorry to hear about the name change problems. It seems like the red tape just keeps getting worse & worse. I hope things go smoothly and you get your marriage license back quickly. Thats gotta be nerve wracking.

Watch out for those mini M&Ms!

Official weigh-in this morning was 135!!!! :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: I can't wait to be under 130 again! I had to work late yesterday so I can get off early on Thursday for P/T conferences. Fortunately they scheduled all of them on the same day this time – last time it was on different days, which really messed up my schedule. I had the BEST Balance Bar yesterday! It was the new Trail Mix kind (Chocolate) and it was delicious. They have the same nutrients as the regular Balance Bars, but with 3g of fiber, which is good. It was really yummy, I was sad when it was gone… :sad1: I’ll have to pick up another box of those (got them at Target). Work was insane, so I didn’t get to eat the carrots with my lunch. I guess it’s better to skip something than to overindulge, right? I had 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, DC, Minute Maid Light Lemonade:

6:10am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken (3oz); Brown Rice (1/2c)
3:00pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
6:30pm: Pork Roast (3oz); Red Potato (1/2); Carrots (6 baby); Crème Saver (1)
8:30pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Jelly Bellys in the breakroom

Beth, I tried to avoid the line at SS which is why I mailed it. Now we don't even have proof we are married since the marriage license is MIA. Today I am going to call the courthouse to see where my certified copy is... But at least it is not making me stress eat!! I love this BFL plan!!

Jane, I wasn't even interested in the mini M&Ms. DD just crammed them into my mouth as I turned around (because I USED TO bum a bite off of whatever treats the kids were eating). I did "cheat" yesterday and have one Creme Saver. But it was only 20 calories and I stopped with one, so I am not too worried about it. It definitely won't become a habit!!

Hi Amy!!!!

Congrats on making it through the first week. Way to go on making it to 135 too!!!! That is great news!!!!

I am so sorry to hear that things with you name change aren't going as planned. Sometimes I wonder about SS places and such.....they tend to drag their feet.

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday! Keep up the awesome work!

Congrats on the 135!!!!!! You're doing great with your eating. Only 6 more lbs until you see the 120's!!!!!

For some reason I was hungry after dinner last night. I did sneak in a single Crème Saver and then I managed to hold off until my 8:30pm snack. That is the first time I have been so hungry since I started BFL. Maybe I didn’t eat enough protein (the turkey burger was pretty thin). Hopefully things will be easier today! More drama on the name change front – I called the court to see where the certified copy of my marriage license was and they never sent it because I never paid for it. I looked at my bank account and could tell them what check number and when they cashed it (12/9). So FINALLY they are going to send me the copy! I will at least be able to get my bank accounts and drivers license changed, but that doesn’t solve my SS dilemma. One of our friend’s wives used to work at SS so we are going to call her to see if she can give me a number to actually talk to a human… Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, DC:

6:10am: Egg Beaters (1/2c); Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Chicken (3oz); Brown Rice (1/2c); Carrots (10 baby)
3:00pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Apple
6:30pm: Turkey Burger; Wheat Bun; Tomato; Crème Saver (1)
8:30pm: Cottage Cheese (1/2c); FF Yogurt
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (20min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: More Crème Savers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks Jamie! I'm sure my name will get changed eventually... the thing that stinks is work - they will not change my name unless SS is changed and I am sick of keeping up with 2 last names!
Jane, I was SO happy about 135! I can't wait to be back in the 120's. :cool1:
At least they are finally doing something to help you! I realized yesterday when I was at the docs office that I had not gotten a new insurance card so I couldn't change my name yet. GRRRR!! It is a pain to remember who I am where.
