AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Well, let's just say yesterday was my splurge for the week... It all started with a potluck at work. I had eaten my own lunch and avoided the whole thing when my friend asked me where all the goodies were. I showed him and there it was - cheesecake. That was the beginning of the end... I had a piece of caramel cheesecake :lovestruc , plus a piece of pumpkin bread. It was so good, but I was SO stuffed! I immediately felt guilty and my stomach was not happy with me. So I decided that I would counteract all the junk I ate by having no more snacks and a small dinner (which was 1 cup of wheat noodles, no sauce or anything). That was all fine until we got to the ballet. The kids wanted a brownie but it was so huge! So I split it with them. :guilty: Then we had a blue martini at intermission (yum) and when we got home I gorged myself on leftover Pumpkin Fluff that DH brought home from his potluck... I put everything into FitDay and it came out to 2411 calories! :scared1: But that was the splurge I am going to allow myself every week so I have gotten over it and am on to today... My weight crept back up to 135, but that isn't so bad. I did get in 80oz of water and 2 cups of green tea:

B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2tbsp); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Ham-n-Cheddar Sandwich; Baby Carrots (10); Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-Cheesecake; Pumpkin Bread
D-Wheat Spaghetti (1c)
S#2-Brownie (1/2 of mongo size); Martini; Pumpkin Fluff (~1.5c)
WORKOUT-Walking (10min); Firm Body Sculpt (45min)
RESISTED-nothing... :rolleyes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, The Nutcracker was excellent. Both kids were totally mesmerized. DH even said it was way better than he expected. Today is DD's recital. I think we will all be "danced out" by the end of this weekend! As you can read, I already had my cheesecake damage for the week, so I am hoping no one brings any tomorrow!! Happy birthday to you! I hope you have a blast at your celebration dinner! :teeth:
Amy, how was your birthday? Your weekend sounds like a blast. Wow, you were busy - with all of that running around you must've burnt up a bunch of calories. Hang in there - a few more weeks and the holidays will be OVER! I hear you on the guilt - Saturday I couldn't stop eating the sourdough bread. I'm glad that you had such a great time with your families. Those are memories they'll have forever.
My kids are three years apart too, but much older than your kids. I'd heard that spacing them out would help but I think it only made the sibling rivalry more pronounced. All they ever did was fuss & fight!
Congrats again on those workouts! The Firm is tough!! :cheer2: They definately take some work to get thru. Great job!
Geez, I just had a whole bunch of stuff typed in and when I came back in from washing DD's hair, my computer had rebooted itself!!! Poor DD is home sick. She went to bed last night with a 102.6 temp and woke up this morning with 104.5! It is finally down to 103. She slept until 11am, which is unheard of. I think she has the good ole fashioned flu...
Anyway, Saturday was good until we went to our friend's wine-n-cheese ball party... I don't know the totals, and I don't want to know!
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Clementine
L-Grilled Ham-n-Cheddar; Goldfish (30); LF Laughing Cow
S-LF String Cheese; Pumpkin Fluff (1c)
D-Tacos (2 Homemade w/Turkey-n-Cheese); Creme Savers (3)
S@Party-Pretzels (1c); Popcorn (2c); Cheese-n-Crackers (plenty); Wine (4 glasses)
WORKOUT-Fat Burning Pilates (45min)
Sunday was my b-day and I decided I wasn't going to stick to any sort of plan. I didn't snack and get stupid, but I ate a bunch of stuff I wouldn't normally eat... We saw King Kong. It was LONG! There were a couple action sequences that could have been shortened quite a bit without losing the meaning. 3 hours is just too much!
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Clementine
S#1-Movie Theater Popcorn (no butter)
L-Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich (no mayo); Fries; DC
S#2-Frosting Graham Cracker Sandwich
D-Chicken; Green Beans; FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Gingerbread Man Ice Cream Sandwich
S#3-Hot Chocolate Ice Cream (1/2c)
WORKOUT-None - I worked out for 7 straight days and I needed a break!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, if I can make it through these next couple weeks, I will be amazed! This weekend just flew by. TOO BUSY!!! I am actually glad I had to stay home today - I am getting lots of laundry done, plus Christmas cards!! My kids fight non-stop as well. I thought it was a boy-girl thing, but I guess not! We can make it through the holidays, never fear! :cheer2:

Well, yesterday was nothing to be proud of! I totally went off the deep end after about 5pm and my weight jumped back up to reflect it... DD is home sick again today. She got up and started getting ready for school and next thing I know she is crying and said her forehead hurts when she coughs. I took her temp and it is 102.2. I am going to have to try to get her into the Dr today. 2 days in a row with high fevers is not good... The only bright spot in my day yesterday is that I got my Christmas cards done! And I did 2 exercise DVDs!!! And boy were my legs SORE... But today will be better! I will keep myself busy with cleaning and I will get at least 100oz of water in. I don't have a calorie count, but I did get in 60oz of water:

B-Kashi Crunch (3/4c); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Grilled Turkey-n-Cheddar; Goldfish (30); LF Laughing Cow; Fresca
S#1-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); LF String Cheese; Ice Cream (1/2c)
D-Pizza (about 6 very thin crust squares); Almonds (12); Pecans (1/2c)
S#2-Ice Cream Sandwich; Creme Savers (2); Corn Pops (~2c)
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min); Cardio Sculpt DVD (45min)
RESISTED-nothing :guilty:

I hope that your daughter gets feeling better. Nothing is worse than the flu. I just hope that no one else in your family catches it. Make sure you get plenty of rest.

2 exercise dvd's! Great job! Your minutes are flying by.

Congrats on getting thru those Christmas cards. I finished my Christmas cards on Friday - then Monday received cards from two families I'd forgotten to put on my list.

Happy Belated Birthday!! :Pinkbounc

Amy, I just wanted to come by here and thank you for posting on my journal. It's really been reinforcing for me. :flower:

I hope your DD is feeling better soon!

I kicked major butt yesterday!!! But after eating pretty much whatever I wanted Fri-Mon, my weigh in this morning was still a sad 137... But I know most of it is water since it is right around the middle and I hope to be back down to 134 after a couple days of clean eating... DD is doing much better - her fever finally broke around 5pm last night. Now DH is fighting something off and I am all stuffy this morning. Blast that darling little germ carrier! Yesterday's totals (1195cal :cheer2: ; 100oz water; 20oz iced tea):

B-Oatmeal, FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Turkey-n-Swiss Sandwich; Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-Apple w/Cinnamon (thanks Jane!)
S#2-LF String Cheese
D-Pork Roast (3oz); Red Potato; Carrots (10 baby); Creme Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Pilates (40min)
RESISTED-Ice Cream; Candy Canes; Hershey Kisses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I don't know if I am going to make my exercise goal!! I am really going to have to kick it up a notch. It will be close!
Heather, thanks for the well wishes! DD is doing much better. Kids really bounce back quickly from that kind of stuff.
Glad to hear that your daughter is feeling better. That flu is nasty. I just pray that no one is sick over the holidays.
Amy, I'm just pleased that we've been sticking to our exercise plans. I think this challenge was about 6 weeks - so far you've averaged about 450 minutes a week - which is tremendous. Thats between 7 and 8 hours per week!! :Pinkbounc I've averaged just under 250 minutes per week. With all of the other things going on I'm happy that I've managed to stick with something. I've just got to get stricter about my food plan. All the foods I like are bad for me & it shows!
Happy Holidays Amy!
Sorry to hear that your dd has been sick and that it seems to be "spreading" - 'tis the season right!!!! :)
Hope you have a great holiday and that you don't go up too much on the scale. You haven't done bad at all given what you've eaten so that is great - you've been exercising which is even more great.
Thanks so much for your support in my journal - I deeply appreciate it so much!
Keep on :banana: :banana:
Chris
I could smack 2 of my co-workers! One of them gave me a box of chocolate covered graham crackers, which is tempting enough. Then another one brought me a jar of chocolate covered almonds, cashews and hazelnuts!!! You KNOW I can’t control myself with nuts! I haven’t opened either one. I think I am going to take them to our Christmas Eve dinner at my SIL’s. Forget that, I will re-gift them. If I take them to the dinner, I will eat some… This is pure torture!
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I had another wrench thrown in the works. My boss decided (while I was off for 2 days) that he was going to have a catered lunch at his house. I had already brought my healthy lunch and did NOT want to go. Plus he charged $10! There is no way I can eat $10 worth of Italian food without exploding. So anyway, I didn’t do very good. It was the chocolate-covered nuts and chocolate fountain that did me in… I don’t have a calorie count for the day. I am SO disappointed, I did so good on Tuesday! WHY DON’T I HAVE ANY WILLPOWER?!?!? (? cal; 100oz water; 2 cups green tea; 8oz iced tea):
B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt
L-Pepperoni Pizza (1 slice); Rigatoni Pasta (1/2c); Side Salad (no dressing); DC; Chocolate-covered Cashews (10); Chocolate Fondue w/mini Pretzels (5) and Marshmallow (1); Mixed Nuts (10)
S#1-skipped
S#2-Goldfish (25); Doritos (10)
D-Hamburger Helper (1c); Crème Savers (2); Fudge (4 very small squares)
WORKOUT-Walking (20min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED-Obviously not chocolate…; Muffins in breakroom; Ice Cream
Jane, DD is STILL sick! She had a 104.1 when I got home and she felt warm this morning. She had bags under her eyes and everything. Poor little thing! The Dr said if she still has a fever today (the 5th day in a row) that we should bring her in because that is too long to have a fever with the cold or flu. Yes, we should be proud of our workout accomplishements! I am going to have to bust my butt to make it, but I am so obsessive about these things, I probably will scrape by! :rolleyes: I also need to crack down on the food end. I know my workouts are on target, but my eating leaves much to be desired! I was thinking of doing the Body for Life eating plan starting Jan 1st. I bought the book a couple years ago and it is just collecting dust on my shelf...
I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is still sick. What a worry and so close to Christmas too. She must feel awful.
Tis the season of temptation! When I arrived at work last week, it was stormy outside & I could see inside the lighted employee break room as I was walking up to the door. On the table were oodles of goodies but when I saw the words "Mauna Loa", I went around to another entrance to avoid going by the break room. By the time I got my break at 3:45 I decided the chocolate macadamia nuts would be gone. They were gone but my coworkers suprised me with a bucket of choc mint cookies for my birthday instead. I went to town on those things. Ya just can't win!
Sounds like a great food party at your boss'. I'm sure there are few people who could avoid a chocolate fountain! This holiday season is much tougher than I remember from before. Hang on - we'll get thru this somehow! I've heard great things about BFL - if you decide to do it let me know how it goes.
HI Amy,
I am so sorry to hear that this bug has got your family. Hopefully it will go away soon.
Don't be too hard on your self, you are doing a grear job, even if you did over do it a little at the bosses. This time of year is tough......you'll make it!!!!
Hope ya'll get to feeling better. Have a wonderful Friday!
Keep up the great work
Another day with no control... Our neighbors brought over fudge and that stuff just has to disappear! When we go to my SIL's tomorrow for dinner, I am going to take the fudge, chocolate covered graham crackers and chocolate covered nuts. And I will avoid them! Again, I don't have a calorie count. My weight has been at 136 for the past few days, so at least I am not gaining! I also didn't get in my workout like I wanted to yesterday. I think I am fighting off whatever DD and DH had... I don't know if I will make my exercise challenge goal. :sad2: For yesterday (60oz water, 2 cups green tea):
B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt
L-Turkey-n-Swiss Sandwich; Goldfish (30); Mini Carrots (10); DC; Tootsie Roll, 2 chocolate covered nuts
S#1-Clementine (the last one!); Chocolate Covered Graham Cracker
S#2-Goldfish (30); Fudge (3 small pieces); Hershey's Kisses (2 caramel)
D-Leftover Chicken Las Vegas w/Rice; Fudge (3 small pieces)
WORKOUT-Walking (40min)
RESISTED-Ice Cream
Jane, I think DD is finally feeling better. She was fever-free for almost 3 hours yesterday afternoon and DH only drugged her once in the morning!!! I think this holiday season is worse because we are actually mindful of what we should and should not be eating and we are posting it for the whole world to see!! Only a couple more days and we will be saved! :cheer2:
Jamie, thanks! I guess I should be thankful that my family rarely gets sick. It just stinks that it is right during the holidays!
I'm glad that your daughter is feeling better. Its so scary when they get those high fevers. I just hope she's better for Christmas.
I think you're right that this year only seems worse because we're keeping track of what we're eating. I know last Christmas I ate exactly what I wanted to & that was NOT a good thing. As bad as I am this year last year was much worse. This year, I feel I'm just scraping by. One of my coworkers invited me to her Christmas party. I couldn't decide if I should go or not. I was worn out between all of the running around I've been doing. Plus I knew there'd be tons of food & drink and I just didn't want to face more temptation, so I decided against going.
Another week and we'll be thru this! All those QVC & HSN weightloss programs, food plans & workout equipment will be on 24/7 in January -much easier to face than fudge & homemade cookies.
Well, another day that was pretty good until the evening. That's when we opened a bottle of wine and started wrapping presents and eating fudge... And I am off to an even worse start today! The more I think about it, the more I know I should try the BFL eating plan at the start of Jan. I am just so pathetic that I can't stick to anything, I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. There HAS to be something to kick my brain into gear! If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, I'm getting desperate! I was still at 136 this morning, but I have a feeling that will be a bigger number tomorrow... :rolleyes: If I can get my lazy butt to the gym after posting this, I will meet my exercise challenge! I have to do it! Yesterday (60oz water, 2 glasses wine):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Banana
L-Grilled Turkey-n-Cheddar; Goldfish (60); DC
S#1-Apple w/Cinnamon; LF String Cheese
D-Salmon (3oz); Wheat Roll w/Butter; Cauliflower (1c); Spice Drops (1c?)
S#2-Fudge - LOTS of it!
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min); Weights (35min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED-Chocolate Covered Nuts; Ice Cream
Jane, I am taking all of our goodies to my SIL's tonight. I have already binged on them enough today where I think I can go without food for the rest of the day and not feel bad about it. Of course that won't happen... I hope I can at least behave on my Vegas trip! The only thing I am hoping for is that I do not gain more than 1lb. That is a steep order! Well, I think I am feeling guilty enough that I will go work out and make my goal! :cheer2:
Hi Amy,
Hope you and your family are feeling better.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday was a day of eating and drinking whatever I wanted. By dinner I was SO sick to my stomach! I think I got it all out of my system... I can't remember everything I ate, but most of it. I only got 60oz of water in and I drank 3 glasses of wine. The best part is that I went to the gym and met my exercise challenge!! Woohoo!!!! :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: I haven't failed one since I started in July!!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful and joyous day. My kids are at their dad's until 1pm, so it is really hard for me right now. I can't wait to go pick them up and enjoy our special day!
B@Village Inn-Egg Beater Ham-n-Cheese Omelet; Hashbrowns, Toast-n-Butter; Multi-Grain Pancakes (3); Tea
L-Fudge, Spice Drops, Chocolate-Covered Nuts
S-Chips-n-Dip (lots)
D-Enchilada; Tamale; Broccoli Salad
S#2-Ginger Cookies (2); Spice Drops
WORKOUT-Weights (30min); Treadmill (30min)
Jamie, thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day!
CONGRATS AMY!!!! GREAT JOB ON REACHING YOUR EXERCISE GOAL!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
All that sweat equity worked! At a time when many people put on 10lbs you're still in the 130s! Those 7 lbs are going to fly off once you start on BFL! Like you, I need to do something to control my eating. Its ridiculous that I need to lose about 9lbs to be in the 140s and can't get motivated enough to reach goal. I'm going to check out the website to see what its all about. Thanks for posting to me about it & count me in!
I did better yesterday, but I am still sabotaging myself in the snack department! Again, I was fine until the evening. I weighed in at 137 this morning. I didn't even weigh myself yesterday because I knew I wouldn't like the number on the scale. We leave for Vegas tomorrow. The hard part will be the 6 hour drive there and back. I get so bored and I always want to snack. I am purposely not going to bring anything but hard boiled eggs, water and fruit. But we are going with 4 other people and I know one of them already mentioned something about bringing Bailey's for the drive. I think I will say I am going to trade off driving with DH so I can get out of that - I really like Bailey's!!! OK, back to reality... whatever I weigh tomorrow morning (which I am hoping is 136 or less), I would like to weigh when I come back. Wish me luck! Totals (? cal; 80oz water):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Banana
L-Ground Turkey (4oz); Cheese (1/8c); Wheat Tortilla; Spice Drops (gone!)
S#1-Apple w/Cinnamon; LF String Cheese; M&Ms (handful)
D-Ham (3oz); Sweet Potato (1/2); Green Beans (3/4c)
S#2-Pecans (1/4c); Reese's PB Cup (mini); Ice Cream Sandwich
WORKOUT-none
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I think the BFL sounds easy enough to stick to. I love cottage cheese and egg whites and I don't have a problem making a bunch of chicken breast and eating that throughout the week. I think the fact that you can have one splurge day might be the key to keeping me on track. Either that or I will fail miserably... I think instead of BFL bars and drinks I will eat a Balance Bar on occasion (the caramel nut blast ones are great!). The rest of the time I plan on eating real food. WE CAN DO THIS!!! I am starting next Monday - I am going to have Sunday as the splurge day. And I will continue to work out as I have been, at least 5x a week of either gym or Pilates DVDs.

Amy, have a great time in Vegas! :Pinkbounc That place is so much fun. Enjoy your trip and when you get back we can concentrate on BFL.

I've already marked my '06 calendar with the BFL Challenge start for January 2nd. Then I checked off 12 weeks for a finish date on 3/26. I figure if I lose 2lbs per week I should be 134lbs by the end date. Do you know how much weightloss this program "promises" over the 12 week period?

You're right, the website has tons of information. I love the before/after stories. I've downloaded their log so I can input my food journal directly on my computer. I've also printed up their exercise program to put into my workout notebook. It doesn't look that difficult - 45 minutes of weights one day & 20 minutes of aerobics the next day. The time involved doesn't look bad; however, thats alot more weights than I'm used to doing per week.

Tomorrow I'll run down to the library for a copy of the book. The library's website says they have a copy at my branch but sometimes what they say and what I can find are two different things. I still don't understand about his food program - just that he emphasizes lean proteins & eating 6X a day. I have protein powder & powdered shake mix to use for the shakes & bars. I'll check the website again & see what I can find about the actual eating plan.

We are going to do this & reach our 12 week goal!
