AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

If I had that candy sitting on my desk it would be gone by the end of the day. Loved that you took it to the bathroom - out of sight, out of mind.

Sorry that your ex gave you such a hard time on the phone. That kind of stress can't help.

Great idea about the size 10 pants. I may just do that. Since I gained 4lbs this week I'm trying to hang on to my 12s at this point!

Way to go on the 134! I guess not snacking on empty calories really does work. Now if I could just get that into my head I might eventually get down to the 130s too!

I am so proud of myself! 3 good days in a row! :cool1: And I finally got to the gym yesterday. I have that cheesecake in my sights… :lovestruc And the weekend is almost here and I’m not petrified that I’ll gain weight (no alcohol-induced feeding frenzies to be had). We will be eating out quite a bit, but as long as I maintain (134 on Monday morning) I will be a happy camper. I will write down everything I eat and total it up on FitDay. I’m sure the calories will be a little higher than my usual 1200-1300 range, but I am still going to try to stick to around 1500 each day. I am taking Monday off work (we are going Christmas shopping) but I will try to make it to the gym in the morning. Today’s plan (1290 cal):

B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 c)
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); Egg Whites (4); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Ham-n-Corn Tortilla Wrap (2)
D-Wheat Spaghetti (1 c) w/ Sauce (1/2 c), Schwans Meatballs (3); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT- Walking (40 min); Pilates Sculpt DVD (55 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, you will be in the 130's before you know it! And I'll probably still be there, hovering around 133... At least it is better than 137, right?!?:teeth: I have a pair of 6 shorts that I can't squeeze into (well, I can, but it isn't pretty!). Either they run small or all my other 6's run big. I like the first theory much better... ;)
Way to go!!! :banana: You've done a great job eating all week long. You'll be into those holdout size 6 shorts soon. Its true that sizes do differ. I read an article in a fitness magazine that researched that very topic. Each size is supposed to have specific measurements for hip, waist etc. They compared jeans from different stores. I think they used size 8 as a guinea pig. In one store an 8 was actually a 12. In another an 8 was a 10. Unbelievably the store with the most accurate sizing was K-Mart. The more expensive stores cheated the most. No wonder why people pay extra to shop at Saks!
Sorry about the double post - I got a message saying ''server busy" & assumed it didn't post the first time. After waiting about 40 minutes I found out the original message did post. :badpc:
Hi Amy!
Wow, you did great getting back on track after your fun weekend!
Ty for your support last week when I was a bit nutso with the Halloween candy. It really helped me to get focused.
I hope this weekend with your Dad went well. :flower:
Hi everyone! Just a quickie to let you know that as of Friday, DB is now DF, soon to be DH!!!! :groom: :bride: I am ecstatic! :teeth: Of course that kicked off a weekend of "celebrating" and eating bad things, but I am going to get back on track today... Weight-wise it's a deja vu from last weekend... :guilty: I'll post more later, we are off to go Christmas shopping while the kids are in school!
Congratulations! So exciting!
Now is the time to get in terrific shape as wedding pictures have a way of sticking around forever!
:cheer2: :cheer2: Congrats!! What a weekend!! :cheer2: :cheer2: You're going to be in awesome shape for the wedding!
What a weekend! It was great visiting with my dad but I went totally overboard with food and goodies. :guilty: And my current weight reflects those bad choices… :guilty: Needless to say I won’t be getting my Cheesecake Factory reward at the end of the month… :guilty: I don’t think I will recover by the end of the week like last time, but hopefully I’ll get close. Back on track today! :goodvibes Boy, if I could lose a lb every time I’ve said that, I wouldn’t have a problem…
As for the proposal, it wasn’t the most romantic, but it was just fine for me! He asked the kids for permission earlier that day, which I thought was SO sweet! And he had the ring in the garage and right after dinner, he asked the kids to go get the new dog toy he bought. I was thinking “ya, that little spoiled puppy really needs another toy” and they came back in with this ring box and DB/DF said “Well, I had a choice to either make this romantic or involve the kids – will you marry me?” and I was very surprised! The ring is not one that I had showed him, but it is gorgeous. It was nice, the kids were super excited. Then we celebrated with my favorite champagne (the kids had ginger ale in champagne flutes) and DF also surprised me with a caramel apple cheesecake!!! :lovestruc We just want a fun Vegas wedding with friends and family (2nd marriage for both of us) but apparently my mother has different aspirations… We need to figure out what we are going to do soon (we were hoping to go the week after Christmas, since we have it off work). But I am more motivated than ever to stick to my plan and not look like a total cow on my wedding day, whenever that will be!! For today (1505 cal):
B-Raisin Bran Crunch (1 c); Skim Milk (1/2 c); Banana (1/2)
L-Schwans Roast Beef Sandwich; Mini Rice Cakes (7); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Goldfish Crackers (40); LF String Cheese
D-Schwans Chicken Marco Polo; Mashed Potatoes (1/2 c); Carrots (3/4 c); Crème Savers (4); Count Chocula (3/4 c); Gingerbread Cookies (4 small) :guilty:
WORKOUT- Walking (40 min); Pilates (40 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks everyone for the congrats. :grouphug: I'll need all the help I can get in the next month or two so I can at least be under 130 by the time I get married! I have not told anyone at work yet because my ring is getting sized (smaller, yay!) and I won't get it back until Monday after 3pm. So I have to keep my mouth shut until next Tuesday... That's hard for me since I have such a big mouth! :rolleyes:

Jamie -- Best wishes to you and DF and your families! How sweet of him to involve the kids. They must have been so excited to be a part of your happy moment! :lovestruc

It will be so great for you to have so much motivation to lose those last few pounds. Definitely DO NOT let the stress of wedding planning or accommodating everyone else's wishes impact on your objectives!

I love that story! Its great that he involved the kids so they feel like they are included. You'll have a great time in Vegas - maybe your mom will change her mind. I don't know how you're going to keep quiet at work about the engagement. You've got more patience than I have!

When dh asked me to marry him it wasn't very romantic either. I was at a payphone in my dorm in Virginia and he was at a gas station payphone in Florida!

It looks like your eating and exercise plans are going great. Glad you had a fabulous weekend.

Oh Amy!

I am so excited for you!!!!! How wonderful!!!! :jumping1:

I love the way he included the kids. He must be a keeper!

Would your mom be ok with doing a reception after your Vegas wedding? I think you should be able to have the wedding you want.

Yay!! :flower:

I am getting back on track after my 3 day free-for-all! I had a couple things I shouldn’t have yesterday (a couple small handfuls of Count Chocula and 4 small gingerbread cookies) but nothing too traumatic, especially compared to the weekend!! And I actually got my Pilates in! :Pinkbounc This DVD is broken down into 4-10 minute segments, and I had to break it up (10 min, help DS with homework, 10 more min, fold laundry, etc), but I did all 4 segments! I am going to the gym after work, I am finally getting back on schedule with my workouts, which should help me get back to my pre-splurge weight.

Today is weigh-in and I must report the bad weeks along with the good weeks. This was definitely a BAD week since I am at 137… :sad2: Let’s see where those lbs came from – Serrano’s Mexican Cantina on Sat – check; In-n-Out Burger on Sun – check; PF Chang’s (lunch) on Mon – check; Rainforest Café (dinner) on Mon – check; copious amounts of caramel apple cheesecake and Halloween candy throughout the weekend – check. Yuck, I am getting sick to my big bloated belly just thinking about it… :crazy2: I should be glad I am only 3 lbs up!

On a happier note, DF would like to get married the first weekend in December! :hyper: He is checking on whether or not this little chapel in town is available. We do NOT want anything big or fancy and were actually wanting to go to Vegas, but my mom would freak and she is not available to go when we want to. Plus the kids would like to be involved… DD6 already asked if she could be the flower girl. Maybe I’ll let her wear her Sleeping Beauty dress to get some extra use out of it!!!! :laughing: I have been thinking about all the things I have to change my name on when I get married. The thing that worries me the most is the Disney cruise stuff. It is in my current name, as is my passport. The cruise is in March, but we all know how long these things can take… Maybe I can worry a couple lbs off! :rolleyes: For today (1268 cal):

B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt; Cinnamon Pears (1/2 c)
L-Spring Mix (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); Egg Whites (4); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Turkey-n-Corn Tortilla Wraps (2)
D-Hamburger Helper w/Turkey (1 c); Green Beans (1 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Weights (30 min); Elliptical (25 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cam, yes the kids were very happy. I am sure they are glad he can finally be called "stepdad" instead of "my mom's boyfriend".... :p
Jane, I did end up telling one of my co-workers, I just can't resist! I'm sure the word will slowly leak out soon... That is funny that you got engaged over the phone! But hey, it worked, right?!? :)
frogmommy, he is definitely a keeper! I think we are going to do a small, no-frills ceremony here with an informal "reception" at our house. Then we will go to Vegas for a couple days like we planned and maybe meet some people there who couldn't make it to the wedding/party. Who knows, we might just wait until next year!! It's not like we are in a big rush, DF just wants to get it done and over with. :goodvibes
Don't worry you'll get back on track in no time! I think workouts play a big role. Even if the number doesn't go down, your body just looks and feels better.
Congratulations again!
You're making me hungry just reading about all of those great restaurants you ate at this weekend. I haven't eaten at Rainforest CAfe in a couple of years. Congrats on getting all 4 segments of pilates in. It really adds up!
I am really struggling to get back in the game here! :sad: Yesterday was a disaster! It all started with 7 Tootsie Roll midgies from my boss’s candy dish. Then at home while making dinner I had a Laughing Cow cheese (I had just stopped at the store and decided to try it – very good!) and 4 gingerbread cookies. And after dinner I had a frozen graham cracker & frosting sandwich, plus the last piece of cheesecake. :crazy2: I am chalking this up to PMS because there is no other explanation for this self-sabotage… We are going to Outback tomorrow for Happy Hour with a bunch of friends to celebrate our engagement. I actually have a tried and true plan there, so I’m not too worried about the food - just the martinis. At least I am getting my workouts in… :cheer2: Next week will be much better and I WILL be back down to 134 by my mid-week weigh-in. :goodvibes (1252 cal):
B-Raisin Bran Crunch (1 c); Skim Milk (1/2 c); Honeydew (1 c)
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); Egg Whites (2); Turkey Lunchmeat; LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c); LF String Cheese
D-Ham Steak w/Apple Butter Glaze (4 oz); Peas (1 c); Rice-A-Roni (1/2 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Pilates Sculpt DVD (55 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allison, you are so right! I feel WAY better about myself when I am working out consistently. It felt great to get to the gym yesterday! :teeth:

Jane, all the restaurants were wonderful, but I don't need to cram it all into one weekend... :rolleyes1

I'm sorry you're having some bad days. Have you thought about upping your calories a little? Just to give your body some more 'healthy' fuel so your not tempted to binge on junk. Also, you might want to replace the rice cakes with something more satiating and full of fiber. I know rice cakes are one of the highest (lowest?) things on the glycemic index. Meaning they spike your blood sugar and bring the hungries later. I'd replace it with something like an orange or even a piece of whole wheat toast. Just some suggestions.

Have fun at the Outback! I haven't been there in like a year! Yummy!

I love Laughing Cow lowfat cheese. I put them in my scrambled eggs, bagels & eat them with fruit or veggies. They're so good.

Watch out for those martini's at the Outback. After two they have a way of sneaking up on you. Even good stress is still stress- Hang in there, Amy!

Congrats on your engagement!! That's great news. :goodvibes

I bet your few bad food days have a lot to do with excitement and as you said, PMS is always good for making us overeat!

Sounds like you're exercising, that helps even if you have a few days of crazy food.

Have a good weekend. :sunny:
