AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Amy, you caught my fatigue! Isn't it the pits? I felt so guilty & had absolutely no energy. At least you have a sore throat to show for yours!

LOL about the Chex Mix! At least I overeat on good stuff like Ghiradelli, pizza and Milk Duds! Save it for the martinis! Actually, I'd rather have that wonderful Outback bread!

Congrats on starting a new exercise challenge. You did a great job this month! Hang in there & get feeling better!

Hi Amy-

Sorry it has taken me so long to get caught up on your journal. I want to say how much I appreciate your support and comments on my journal. TY!

Wow, you did great the other night to stay completely on plan. I have days where I go in the kitchen to rummage and end up thinking "why am I here?" Old habits, you know?

Good for you on the exercise challenge. You can do it!!

I hope your throat is feeling better soon. :flower:

Amy you are doing totally awesome. I want to thank you so much for being so positive and keeping me upbeat in my journal. You have helped me from leaving my journal and going and crying my eyes out and eating everything. It has meant the world to me and to me getting back on track. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

I'm sure your scale will move right back down soon. That is a great weight and I can't wait to get there!!!! I WILL get there and you WILL get to your weight that you want to be at as well.

Keep on :banana: :banana:
Chris

No snacking last night!!! :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: And my sore throat is 90% gone and my energy is back! What a relief, I did not want to be sick for this weekend. Tomorrow is our party. I got some SF margarita mix, and I will stick to that for my drinks. Food-wise, I plan on having some veggies (very little dip), a turkey-n-cheese sandwich (wheat roll), and a cookie. THAT’S IT!!! I need to do this! I’m sure my weight will go back up with all the alcohol that will be consumed, but I don’t need to add to that weight by overeating! I am the hostess anyways, I won’t have time to sit around the food table - I need to be social! :chat: :hyper2: Sounds like there will be quite the turnout – at least 20 people for sure are coming. I’ll let you all know how it goes!

Here is how wacky my weight is. This is for the past week (and it is SO typical):
Sat-133
Sun-133
Mon-136
Tue-135
Wed-134
Thu-134
Fri (today)-133
Is anyone else like this? I know I ate 500 more calories than usual on Sunday, but nothing that should have made me gain 3 lbs! And I weigh myself on the same scale, under the same conditions, the same time of day. It doesn’t bother me too much anymore, but I am just curious to see if anyone else has the same problem. Now you know why I can only count my weight once a week! I guess I could average it, but that is a little obsessive… For today (1275 cal):

B-Oatmeal; Yogurt; Banana
L-Schwans Roast Beef-n-Cheddar Sandwich; Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Turkey/Corn Tortilla Wraps (2)
D-Salmon (4 oz); Carrots (1 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Pilates Sculpt (55 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, you can have your fatigue back! Just kidding, I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Well, except my ex-husband :rotfl: That Chex mix turned all soggy! I am going to have to throw it out, what a waste! Guess I'll have to buy some, that's what I get for trying to be crafty...
Heather, I feel much better, thanks for stopping by my journal!
Chris, welcome back! Thanks for those kind words, I am so happy to know that I might actually be helpful to someone!:hug:
I have been like that over the last two months. One week I can and lose 3 or 4 pounds (not even ON TOM week). And that for me is discouraging. But I do eventually come out of it (thank goodness).
Keep up the good work and have a great time at your party! What fun.
Keep on :banana: :banana:
Chris
Amy, I don't think Monday's weight at 136 was a true weight gain. Just good old fashioned water weight gain! Face it, you weigh 133 now! Your hard work has paid off.
Have fun at your party. As your mingling don't forget to grab those glasses for washing as soon as people set them down. That should burn up a million or so calories! That darn chex mix! You sound about as crafty as I am! By the way, whatever happened to your daughters Halloween costume? Did the rest of it arrive?
Yup I agree, you're definitely 133! That's weird that Monday's was so high, but that's the way it works
Keep it up! Have fun at your party!
Well, add another UNSUCCESSFUL weightloss weekend to my belt! :rolleyes1 I managed to gain 4 lbs after my Halloween party. But I know it is all water weight (I can feel it jiggling all over!) and I know it will be gone by the end of the week. So for a change, I DON'T CARE that I gained! The party was a blast, everyone had a great time. We had a scare with a candle starting to catch my shelf on fire, but luckily Batman saved the day (I had to chastise Superman, who was out back with a beer - oblivious to the whole situation...). I ate too much and drank WAY too much, but it was fun! Next weekend is also going to be a challenge, but more with eating out, not drinking. My dad & his wife are coming out for a visit, so I'm sure we'll be eating out quite a bit more than I am used to.
I am not even going to tally up all the stuff I ate - I can't even remember some of the stuff from the party. Our first guests arrived at 6:30pm and the last people left at 2:45am... There were 2 people that didn't even show up until after midnight! Let's just say this was a SPLURGE weekend! Today was not bad, but I still ate more calories than I should have (1579 cal). Tomorrow starts a new week and I know I won't have a problem getting right back on track! :cheer2:
Happy Halloween!!!! Now is the time that really tests our willpower! We must avoid that candy!!!! I’m all fired up and ready to get back on track today! My main goal this week is NO snacking and getting the party lbs back off… I hope to be fully recovered by Friday.
I have a class for work every Monday for the next 11 weeks. They serve lunch (either a sandwich or salad, chips, cookie and drink). I will have to wait and see what kind of dressing they have for the salads before I decide to eat one. If it is full fat dressing, NO WAY, I’ll stick with the sandwich. I will avoid the chips (unless they have pretzels, which I will eat), but I already know I have no willpower with the cookies, so I am going to have one! It’s only once a week, it won’t kill me. Plus I’ll feel guilty enough to behave the rest of the day… For today (TOO MANY cal :guilty: ):
B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2 tbsp); Yogurt; Pineapple (2 rings)
L-Turkey Sandwich; Tootsie Roll minis (3); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Frosted Oatmeal Raisin Cookie; Mixed Nuts (1/2 c)
D-Lemon Pepper Chicken (4 oz); Peas (1 c); Rice-A-Roni (1/2 c); Apple Cinnamon Cookie
Binge-2 Almond Joy minis; M&M Bar mini; Butterfinger mini; Skittles mini :sad1:
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min)
Jane, the Sleeping Beauty dress arrived about a week after I called them to report their mix-up. DD LOVES it, she is taking it to school today. The thing sprinkles glitter all over the place, her teacher is going to love it...
I know what you mean about the cookies. Whenever we have trainings for work the cookies they serve are so good that it's hard to stop at just one.
Good luck with the class, I hope it's an interesting one.
I gained 4lbs too!!!!! :guilty: At least yours is water weight - mine is ALL chocolate. Last week when I weighed I was expecting a gain - but I was the same. (Thats why I weigh in first thing in the morning.) This week I thought I might be up a couple of pounds but 4!!!! I think some of these were from the week before - for some reason they didn't show up on the scale until this week.
Sounds like your party was a blast. Thank God Batman showed up to save the day. 2:45 was that pm or am? Just kidding, I haven't done 2:45am in years! You must've been worn out on Sunday.
You're smart to question the salad. I bring home McD's salads and put my own dressing on them. I read in an old "Self" magazine that McD's salads can be traps of high fat/high calories. If you use their dressing its like 40-50 grams of fat. I hope that you can find something to eat at your class that is within your calorie range.
So glad that your daughter finally got her costume & loves wearing it! She'll have a blast at school today. My kids would always come home all sugared up & ready to go out for MORE. I sure miss taking them trick or treating! I think I loved it as much as they did.
Hi Amy,
Glad to hear that the costume made it safe and sound and that DD loves it!!!!!
Hope you are having a great Tuesday!!!!!
STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I just totally went nuts last night! :scared: :crazy2: I was so proud of myself at lunch because I didn’t have any chips OR a cookie! I just had a turkey sandwich (no mayo) on multi-grain bread w/cheese, lettuce and tomato. I did great all day until after dinner. Then the cookie/miniature candy bar feeding frenzy started. I ate so much junk I couldn’t even take a deep breath… :sick: I can’t believe I did that, I feel so fat and disgusting. :sad: I didn’t gain any additional weight, but I am still sporting the extra 4 lbs from my party. I also didn’t work out yesterday (but at least I got in my lunchtime walk). NOT a good way to start the week!
But today is a new day AND a new month! :cool1: I am going to take it day by day (hour by hour if I have to). My promise to myself today is to not have a single piece of candy or anything else that is not planned. ::yes:: For today (1216 cal :banana: ):
B-Raisin Bran Crunch (1 c); Skim Milk (1/2 c); Banana
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); Egg Whites (4); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c)
D-Chicken Las Vegas; Brown Rice (1/4 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
gradtchr, I avoided the cookies at lunch! However I MORE than made up for it at home... :rolleyes:

Jane, we slept until 10:30 on Sunday morning! I couldn't believe it! We had to get up to feed the puppy at 6am, take him out to potty, then we put him back in his crate and we all slept. We're too old for that kind of partying! :teeth:

Jamie, DD looked SO adorable in her costume! She got lots of compliments. Now I have to find some 1/2 price pirate costumes for our cruise!!!

Halloween is super tough. I had the opposite problem, I pigged out at work, and then went home and was good (mostly because I was disgusted with myself). The only thing we can do is learn from it and move on.

Believe me, you're not alone! At least my kids don't collect candy for me anymore or I'd really be in bad shape. We'll get thru this! Remember you're Losin' for Cruisin'!

Amy, thanks for encouraging me to join the Christmas Exercise Challenge. I was feeling that I'd let myself down by not even coming close to the October goal. After you posted about the new Challenge I decided to check it out. Seeing that it actually started on 10/25 I went back into my thread and pulled the hours of exercise I had from 10/25 until today. To my shock it totalled 370. I just kept feeling I'd done lousy all month, why bother with it again. Thanks for getting me back in the competition!

Food is a different story. I need to start counting those calories! I'm too old to be the Tootsie Pop Queen!

You're right today is a new day and a new month and Halloween is thankfully over! You're doing great!!!

What is chicken las vegas? It sounds interesting.

Woohoo! :banana: :cool1: :banana: :cool1: One good day under my belt! It actually felt good to not eat junk. I had to take DD to tap, so that was a food-free hour and a half, which helped! I didn’t get my Pilates in, but at least I did my walk. And I will for sure be going to the gym this afternoon. I think I will finally be able to get back into my routine. I was at 135 this morning, so I am 1 lb away from no longer lying on my Thanksgiving Challenge clippie… I did claim that I was Lighter for Halloween, because I was (well, up until Sunday anyway). I think if I behave all month long, I will treat myself to my absolute fave – pumpkin cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory. Boy, that is something to strive towards! But if I slip up once, NO cheesecake! I was going to make one for Thanksgiving, but there is no way I can have a leftover cheesecake sitting around the house… Yep, that’s what I am going to do! I better tell DB because he is the one who will be taking me out for my treat. :love2: And this personal challenge is until the end of the month, which means I have to make a plan and stick to it for Thanksgiving. It’ll be tough, but you know I :lovestruc cheesecake! I can do it! :cheer2: Today (1259 cal :banana: ):

B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt; Banana
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); Egg Whites (4); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Mini Rice Cakes (7); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c)
D-2 Tostadas; Crème Savers (3)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allison, you are right about moving on. I only wish I would LEARN from it as well so there are no more repeat performances... :rolleyes:
Jane, I am SO glad you joined the exercise challenge! You are already ahead of me!! If you start counting calories, you will be shocked at how fast those Tootsie Pops add up... :eek:
gradtchr, Chicken Las Vegas is made in the crockpot. It is 3-4 chicken breasts, a can of cream of chicken soup, a container of FF sour cream and chipped beef. It is GOOD and so easy to make. I put it on low when I leave for work. It is ready by dinnertime and I serve it over brown rice.
Congrats, Amy!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Great job on the eating!
We need to do something about all of these holidays coming up. Its one big food fest after another! It was at this time last year that I really put the weight on. Between ds wedding, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years I totally lost control. I've got to come up with a plan - Halloween almost did me in this year. And thats just one holiday. Later on this month I'm meeting with a former coworker that I haven't seen in almost two years. When we worked together I was a size 8. I'm feeling a little apprehensive about seeing her. She's in fantastic shape & has always taken great care of herself. If I would keep in mind how I feel when I have to see people who haven't seen me since my weight gain I would NEVER eat junk food. There's got to be a way to bottle that kind of motivation!
Speaking of motivation, pumpkin cheesecake sounds delicious! That should keep you on the straight and narrow - just stay away from theChex Mix!
I am really getting sick of getting sidetracked with my workouts!!! I had the worst day at work and ended up having to work late, so no gym. I haven’t been since last Thursday… :guilty: But on a more positive note, I did get my walk in. And since I worked late yesterday, I get to leave early today, so I will be able to go to the gym (knock on wood!).
I also did great with my eating again – NO snacking! 2 days in a row and now I am back to 134! :cool1: And believe me, it was TOUGH! I had that candy sitting on my desk all day and those Skittles and Tootsie Rolls were looking GOOD… Plus my day was extremely stressful and I just wanted to dive right into the candy. But instead I put it in the breakroom, which is way far from my desk. Not to mention my moronic ex-husband called and was blaming me because DS got a D in reading. Ya, I can see how that is MY fault! For today (1271 cal :) ):
B-Raisin Bran Crunch (1 c); Skim Milk (1/2 c); Cantaloupe (1 c)
L-Schwans Roast Beef-n-Cheddar Sandwich; Carrots (2); Goldfish Crackers (35); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c); LF String Cheese
D-Shrimp (3 oz); Pasta-Roni (1/2 c); Broccoli (1 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Weights (25 min); Elliptical (30 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I agree, we need to do something!!! I just wish I knew what it was... :confused3 We just need to stick together and we can do it! Lately I have been telling myself things like "Is this Tootsie Roll (mini Twix/Skittles/handful of Boo Berry, etc) going to make you feel any better? NO, you will feel WORSE tomorrow and regret eating it, so save yourself some pain now!" It helps for the most part. Maybe you can get a pair of 10 pants and try them on every time you want to snack. That will stop you from snacking and eventually they'll fit! :cheer2:
