AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Finally a day without snacking! I did have to eat the last 4 gingerbread cookies (110 cal) after dinner though… :guilty: I did not get my walk in yesterday OR work out. :confused3 Hopefully I will get my walk in today but I doubt I will be working out since we have plans after work. But tomorrow and Sun I will FOR SURE be hitting the gym! :cheer2: Other than the Outback tonight, we don’t have any plans, so I should be able to behave. And if we DO end up doing something social, I need to learn to use some self-control! I will be getting married in 3 weeks and I will be shopping for a dress this weekend (I just want a cute cocktail dress or something along that line). I don’t want to look like a cow! :rolleyes1

I am taking Allison’s advice today and laying off the mini rice cakes while adding a ½ turkey sandwich on whole wheat for lunch (with my salad). I am going to make some veggie soup this weekend so I have that for lunches next week. That usually fills me up quite a bit. It’s crunch time! For today (1620 cal w/martinis):

B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt; Honeydew (1 c)
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); ½ Turkey-n-Cheddar Sandwich; Goldfish Crackers (25); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-None
D-3 Grilled Shrimp; Cup of Potato Soup; Bread-n-Butter (2); Martinis (3)
WORKOUT-Walking (40min)

Allison, we'll see if the increased lunch helps me any in the evening! It's more mental than anything... ;)

Jane, I AM stressed out and it will be nice to have this wedding done with! It's growing out of control, we need to refocus and eliminate everyone except close friends and family... I keep reminding DF that we were all set to go to Vegas with a handful of people, and a lot of people would be "left out" that way too!

Kate, glad to see you back! I think the sweets-fest is definitely due to PMS! We'll see if it goes away in a couple days, if not, maybe it is the stress after all!!!

I hope my tip works out for you! If not, then I'm sure you'll find something that works for your body. We're all so different, that's why one eating program doesn't work for everybody.

Don't get too stressed about the wedding. Enjoy this time, you'll only be engaged for a short time!

Great job on the eating! You've got alot on your plate over the next 8 weeks - be sure to make time for yourself and above all have fun. Make sure that you spend enough time looking for the dress that you want. For ds wedding, I didn't and I ended up feeling horrible. I hated that darn dress. For our anniversary I made sure to take time every week to go looking. Finally about 2-3 weeks before our trip I managed to find a dress that I loved. That made a big difference in how I felt at each occasion. Amy, you're in the 130's there's no way you're going to look big in any dress you choose.

HI Amy,

Congrats!!!!! I am so happy for all of you!!!

Sounds like you have had some good days and some bad days. That is okay, we all go through these things!!!!!!

Keep up the good work and again, congrats on the engagement!~

Wow, just 3 weeks!!!! Things at your house must be so exciting right now! I hope you get some time to yourself every now and then to relax before the big day.

I actually read the same thing Allison did about rice cakes being high GI. I used to eat them all the time but not anymore. Hope the change worked out for you.

Well, needless to say I have been very busy! I have an offsite conference at work that I was at today and will be there again tomorrow. Of course that throws my eating WAY off... The weekend went by SO fast! I did something stupid on Friday night that resulted in a knee injury that prevents me from working out. I will tell you if you are interested (PM me), but it is kinda embarrassing. Something an 18 year old boy would do, not a 33 year old mother of 2!!! Friday night was great food wise, horrible drink wise (hence the stupid injury)... Saturday I did NOT snack, but my meals were not good. Let's just say Sonic was involved... Sunday was EXCELLENT!!! I woke up Monday the same weight I was on Friday, so that is always a great thing! Usually I gain on the weekends! I won't post all the meals from the weekend (although I did keep track), and I have no idea on the calories for today, but here is what I had:

B-Raisin Bran Crunch w/Skim Milk; Banana
L-Turkey-n-Brie on Ciabbata (YUM); Fries :guilty: ; Side Salad; 2 Hard Candies; Iced Tea
S-Oatmeal Raisin cookie :guilty: ; Diet Pepsi
D-Wheat Spaghetti w/Sauce and 4 Schwans Meatballs; ; 2 Cinnamon Pears; 2 Creme Savers
WORKOUT-None :rolleyes1

There are a couple things I am extremely proud of - today at the conference they had pastries galore, whipped cream and cinnamon sticks for the coffee, etc. I ate breakfast before I went and didn't have a single treat!!! I also resisted the 2nd cookie that I wanted and didn't have an after work snack because of the cookie. :cheer2: That is HUGE for me!!

I got a dress this weekend!!!!! :cool1: I picked it out a 2 different stores. It could not be any more flattering for my figure. And it fits PERFECTLY!!!! It is a black full length. Yes, I am getting married in black. But it is gorgeous, I will post a photo when I get a chance later this week.

Allison, I did skip the rice cakes on Friday and had a 1/2 sandwich, but the day was already a mess since we went out for dinner. I will try it again once I get back on my regular work schedule, which is hopefully Wednesday!

Jane, I absolutely LOVE the dress I got! My mom said it made me look like a stick PLUS it made my chest look big :teeth: That right there is the reason it is a keeper - I don't hear that too often! :rotfl:

Jamie, thanks! I just got my ring back from being resized today, so now I am back to feeling like I'm engaged! :bride:

Heather, that is such a bummer about my beloved mini rice cakes! I love those things! Oh well, I am going to try to live without them for a couple weeks to see if that cuts the cravings any.

Congrats on the dress Amy!! Stick with a big chest- it doesn't get any better than that!! ;)

Hope the rice cake boycott brings you some good results.

I'm so happy you found a dress. Black sounds elegant. Any dress that makes you look thin and have a big chest is definately a keeper.

Congrats on the great eating at the conference. Those pastries are hard to say no to.

I was awfully snacky in the afternoon yesterday, but did pretty good overall. Weigh-in today was a disappointing 137. But considering I have not worked out in a week and haven't been eating that great, I am not surprised... I don't think I am going to make it for the Thanksgiving Challenge since right now I am exactly where I started. :confused3 My goal is to get back to 134 by Thanksgiving so I am true to the 3/12 I have on my clippie!! I also think this will be the last weight loss challenge I join, since all it does is frustrate me! I will continue with the exercise challenges though. I am going to have to work extra hard to make the Christmas one!

I am going to start posting my meals after the fact instead of going back and changing them. I am also going to list some things I avoided, so I feel like I am at least doing something productive!!! I haven't had a chance to do FitDay lately, that conference really disrupted everything!! For yesterday:

B-Oatmeal, Yogurt, Cantaloupe (1 c)
L-11 chips w/salsa; 3 taquitos w/sour cream (2 tbsp); Spanish Rice (3/4 c); 2 Hard Candies; Iced Tea
S-FF Cottage Cheese (1 c); Mini Rice Cakes (15); DC
D-Beef Stroganoff (3/4 c) w/Wheat Noodles (1/2 c); 4 Animal Crackers; Handful Cinnamon Toast Crunch; Creme Savers (4)
WORKOUT-20 push ups (real ones, not girlie ones!)

AVOIDED-Pastries at conference; Soft Pretzels/Popcorn at conference; Excessive chips-n-salsa at lunch :cheer2:

Cindy, it's great to have you back!!! I agree on the dress, it is always nice to get some extra help in that area...

Jane, I will post a photo of the dress. Hopefully tonight I will be able to get that done. DD6 is also wearing black - she has this 20's flapper style dress that is just adorable. We are all going to wear our wedding clothes on our cruise for formal night!! Double bonus!

I totally agree about the weight loss challenges being frustrating. When you don't have that much to lose, your body holds on to it for some reason. I said 7 pounds by Christmas, and unless I starve myself it's just not possible. Obviously it would be stupid since I'd just gain it back plus more. Best to lose it slowly, since it will be longer lasting.

Good job avoiding pastries! I have an all day meeting tomorrow, so I know I'll have to avoid some yummy stuff!

Yesterday was great! :cool1: I went to the gym and my knee was just fine. The bruise is starting to come out with all the yucky purples, blues and greens… I really need to pick up the pace on my workouts since I basically took a week off…. I’ve decided that every time I want to snack in the evening, I will do 10 push ups. That way I will kill 2 birds with 1 stone – getting my arms more toned for the wedding and not snacking! My wedding dress fits perfectly, so I am not in panic mode to lose any weight before then, but I still want to try to meet my goal of 125 by the end of the year. Maybe I’ll make it, maybe I won’t, but I’m going to try my best. Yesterday’s totals :cheer2: (1274 cal, 100oz H2O, 2 cups green tea):

B-Raisin Bran Crunch (1 c) w/Skim Milk (1/2 c); Cantaloupe (1 c)
L-Romaine (2 c); Cheese (1/8 c); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Turkey-n-Cheddar Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (25); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (3/4 c); Laughing Cow Cheese (2)
D-Pork Chop (2 oz); Mashed Potatoes (1/2 c); Broccoli (1 c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min); Weights (30 min); Elliptical (25 min); Pushups (10)

RESISTED-Animal Crackers, Goldfish, extra Mashed Potatoes   :cheer2:

Allison, I am glad you are in the same boat as me. I will stick to the exercise challenges since obviously I can't control how much weight I lose!! :rolleyes1

Jane, the ole knee is doing fine. I still can't put any weight on it (tabletop position in Pilates is not going to happen for a while) but at least I can bend it all the way now!! :goodvibes

Amy you are doing really well. I think your thought about if you go to eat late in the evening of doing pushups. Hmmmm....that is not a bad idea if it will help with these birdwings I have!!!!!! ROFL

Keep up the good work! You'll be down before you know it!

Take care
Keep on
Chris

I think the bigger lunch is helping with the afternoon cravings. Plus the deterrent of doing pushups probably helps too… The worst part of my day is when I am making dinner and packing the kids’ lunches for the next day (I make their sandwiches fresh in the morning, but try to have everything else in their lunch boxes the night before). I tend to want to nibble (just a couple pretzels, a couple animal crackers, etc). But I haven’t done that for 2 nights in a row!! :cool1: I didn’t get my lunchtime walk in, but I did get in 20 minutes plus I went to the gym. Gotta catch up if I’m going to make my Christmas goal! Yesterday’s totals  (1309 cal, 100oz H2O, 2 cups green tea):

B-Oatmeal; FF Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 c)
L-Turkey-n-Provolone Sandwich; Goldfish (35); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Laughing Cow Cheese
D-2 Turkey-n-Cheese Tostadas; Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (20 min); Weights (30 min); Elliptical (30 min)

RESISTED-Animal Crackers (actually had the box in my hand and put it back!), extra Crème Savers :cheer2:

Allison, my knee is doing great. It is nice to get back into my exercise routine!!

Chris, thanks for the encouragement. Try the pushups, you will be surprised at how strong you feel after doing them a couple times! :teeth:

Very good job at resisting the munchie piece when making the lunches. I know that's hard - I was so glad when dd was at a point that she could start making her own lunches because I struggled there too - oh, just a couple of chips (which then turned into a couple of handfuls!!!!).

Have a good weekend
Keep on
Chris

Hi Amy,

You have the right idea...I love the idea of doing pushups....I may have to try that. That way I will get in some more exercise and always push the cookie cravings out!

Keep up the good work. You really are doing a great job!

Great job on the eating and exercising! With the wedding and cruise just around the corner, you'll look fabulous. Pushups are hard but they're supposed to work many muscles - not just arms but shoulders, abs, legs etc. I try to do pushups every week but I do the sissy pushups and those are difficult for me. I suppose once I lose 20 more pounds that I'll be able to graduate to the regular ones.

Take care of your knee - it may heal quicker than you think!

Hi Amy-

Your dress sounds gorgeous!

I am amazed that with everything you have going on you are still able to keep to your diet and workout plans.

Good job with the not snacking while you make the lunches. That's a hard one for me too.
