Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Ugh, those hormone headaches can be nasty. Glad it let up...hopefully it will soon be a thing of the past totally along with the TOM. A year or two ago I apparently entered some sort of pre-menopause state so the doc put me on Yaz and recommended staying on it till my body decides it's all done (not sure how I'll be able to tell since the pills cut it back...guess it will just disappear totally at some point?). I was getting hot flashes before but the Yaz cut them down tremendously.

 Amy,

Sorry to hear about the migraine. :( I hope you're feeling better today. :wizard:

I hope you have a great day!

Amy
I hope you are feeling better today. I also get migranes with TOM. just makes it that much worse.

Good job getting up and doing something even though you didn't feel well. Walking seems to really help mine for some reason. Endorphins maybe? Gotta love those things.

My DS is a Cadet with our Volunteer FD. One thing they insist on is good grades. DS also has to turn in a copy of his report card to the Cadet advisor when he gets it. If any grade is below a B, he is put on restriction. They are tougher then me! and if he gets a low grade on a test or something (has happened once since he joined) and I wouldn't let him go to meetings for a couple weeks, the Cadet Advisor backed me up 100%. Poor thing, now if he gets a low grade on anything he hears it from me, the FD and ROTC. :thumbsup2 It's keeping him straight (so far)

Glad to hear your headache is gone. Hopefully it will eventually get the hint that nothing is happening down there anymore and it doesn't need to show up! :goodvibes

I think it's great that DS has an incentive to keep his grades up. And I can't believe the teacher told him that, but what can you do... :confused3 It's a good lesson for DS that sometimes it's OK to question authority and do what he knows is right. ;)

I would totally be in the same boat with the car ride, the first time I saw my kids get in the car with their 16 year old stepbrother I about threw up. It's hard to let them grow up! My parents say that worry never goes away, so I guess we are stick with it! :)

glad the ankle is feeling better Amy & you made it to the rec center :)
AND food is going great :)
we never stop worrying about our kids right? just gotta trust we brought them up well!!!!
i too wouldnt be pleased with the teachers comments!!!

Thanks Ladies.

Ugh, we had snow last night, we have more coming tonight and I am sick of winter!

I am weighing in at the later meeting today, the streets are icy and I figure why get out and add another car to the mix if I can go later. It also gives me time to get stuff done around here.

I was pain free yesterday and it was so nice. I did my aquasize and my walk. I need to get a pedometer to track how fast I am walking. I think my pace is really up from what it was.

Ds is very stoked about this program through the fire dept. I was about to say he couldn't do it, its a search and rescue thing, lots of equipment to buy and he needs to get a ride with this other kid for the rest of the year (same night as dd has her church thing). And he's going to have to miss a weekend long mandatory training as that is when dh's family is here and we are doing fil's ashes. But they seem to be willing to work with him on this. I like the fact he's already talked to his math teacher about getting that grade up. I love his new focus and the fact he works incredibly hard in all the outside stuff he does. So I want him to do it and I guess if they can work around that one missed weekend of training, its a go. I figure anything he can do that requires him to be disciplined, get good grades and will help him figure out for sure if he wants to do something along the lines of law enforcement or firefighting, its all good. We watched a show called Making a Marine and it wasa very interesting to see what those guys go through for the 13 week boot camp. I think its a very good thing ds is already at 15 preparing for that by training with the Marines and I told him I will put him on my gym membership and he's going to use some leftover birthday and Christmas money to do some personal training. They even have some ex military trainers at the gym. I can't believe my little boy is growing up! And I can't believe how buff he is getting and I can't believe how those teenage girls he knows are all commenting on it.:scared1:

I am not too hopeful about weigh in but I am also not too worried about it. I got off track a bit for four days but I had a very solid week last week and one four day mess up in the long run isn't a big deal. I got back to what I need to do. We leave for WDW five weeks from today and my hope is to be down ten pounds by then. I think I can do it.

Lisa: Our sons have a lot in common! What has gotten him off track with math was doing three different middle schools with three very different math curriculums. He never had pre algebra so regular algebra is a struggle. But he's doing better and I told him, he knows what the consequences are if he doesn't do well and its a lot more serious than me grounding him from tv!

Barb: I was perimenopausal for over 11 years. Just after dd was born it started. At 32, I would sit there in church with sweat pouring down my flushed red face! I think maybe I am done for good and I won't be sorry if I am!

Amy: I am telling you, we moms worry. Dan was fine with ds going with this kid because we know him and he's a good kid. I actually posted on the community board asking parents of teens about if they let their teens drive with others and most did not. I felt like a bad mom for letting him go! But our state's laws permit one kid under 21 riding with a teen during certain hours and as long as that kid has had his license for at least six months. I am going to take it on a case by case basis as to who he drives with. I am going to go with my gut and just make sure anyone he drives with has had driver's ed and has the proper amount of experience behind the wheel. In the end, I feel like the time is here for me to let go a bit because whether I want to or not, he's growing up.

Tracey: Thanks for stopping by, and yes we just have to trust the values and lessons we taught our kids and keep praying!

 Amy,

Sorry to hear about the snow out your way! :( We're supposed to have a couple of nice days here, followed by a snowstorm on Monday. I'm with you...I can't wait for spring! :sunny:

The program through the fire department sounds like a wonderful opportunity for your DS!:thumbsup2 He is growing up so fast! ::yes:: That is wonderful that he took the initiative to talk to his math teacher. :thumbsup2

Sending some :wizard: for weigh-in.

Just think...In five weeks, you'll be enjoying the Florida :sunny:, having a :drinking1 or two at the Pop Century pool, and spending time with ::MickeyMo and ::MinnieMo . :cloud9:

Hope you have a great day, WISH sis!

You have raised such a wonderful young man! When did he start filling out? I can't wait for that to happen to DS13. Hugging him is like hugging a pile of bones! He signed up for weight lifting class next year, and he wants to try out for football, so I'm hoping that helps.

Wow, more snow?? I hope you are able to get to WI, I know that helps you stay focused. :wizard:

Thanks Amy and Tracy.

Amy: Ds is still very thin, but he's gained I think about 7 or 8 pounds which is something and he his arms are getting some nice muscles. He also has these six pack abs from the hundreds of sit ups he does each week. He gets all of that from me!:rotfl:

Tracy: Five weeks from this moment, I'll be sitting at DIA waiting for my plane to take off. And yeah, I already have some money budgeted for the Pop pool bar! And of course I'll be taking two bottles of Malibu to put in my refillable mug. :woohoo:

Didn't weigh in. I have no good excuse, however I intend to go tomorrow. Dan is working from home and we were going to go out to lunch, but I said lets have Subway here instead. So I had a healthy lunch. Then tonight we are having drinks with a friend while dd and ds are doing their stuff and I one drink only and I may just stick to diet coke since I plan to have a couple of beers tomorrow night while we watch the Olympics with friends and I'll be driving to pick up dd. So I have a plan in place for that and even if I have one drink, I think I'll be fine for weigh in tomrrow. No idea why I just couldn't get motivated to work out today or weigh in, I think its the weather. Oh well, that's what tomrrow is for!

Ouch, you poor thing! I never realized that peri could start relatively early but I started with the hot flashes a few years back and asked the nurse practitioner. She said, "Yep, that's it." Thankfully the Yaz cut 'em by about 90 percent and DH claims I am less PMSy (it's supposed to help with that too).

Good luck on the weigh in tomorrow. I'm sure that weather is a real downer...ugh! But I'll bet the food moderation will pay off.

Barb, no one was more shocked than I to start peri when I was only 32 and had just had a baby! I always had low hormones and I guess I just didn't have enough to keep the fires all the way stoked. I'm only 45 which is about 8 years younger than my mom was when she hit menopause. Lucikly those hot flashes weren't that severe for the whole 13 years or I would have been on hormones butt quick!

Okay, true confession. I did HORRIBLE tonight. I had four cocktails, a few nachos and since I skipped dinner and we stayed much longer, I had to have something to eat on the way home to avoid barfing. So not going to weigh in this week either.

I have already told my whole family its off to the rec center tomorrow for us all!

I did have a really good time tonight. I hadn't been to Happy Hour in months and it was good to hang out with our friend.

Just wish I would have gotten my buns to WW today not so much because its the end all be all, but then again, when I skip two weeks in a row, I have to be careful.

Oh well, new week and I don't intend to skip WW again before we leave for WDW.

Only one month until Spring!:flower1::flower::butterfly:daisy::sunny:

Barb: I was perimenopausal for over 11 years. :scared1:

and keep praying!

Hugging him is like hugging a pile of bones!
:lmao: Mine too!

Yes, I would say this is weather related. Waking up to snow and being told more is on the way?:cold: No wonder you didn't want to get out there.

Please don't skip any meals. That isn't good for you and actually will make your body hord calories to make up for it.

Have you tried yoga? Not the sitting with your legs crossed funny, eyes closed going MMMMMMMMMMMM. But the deep breathing, slow movement exercises. You have your WII fit and while I was VERY skeptical at first, I love some of the yoga stuff. I don't do them all, I do the simple ones. Something to try when you don't want to get out and feel punky (to use Tracy's word).

It sounds like you had a great time with your friends last night!:goodvibes

I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend ahead.

Thanks Lisa and Tracy.

I also want to clarify, I didn't drive last night! I let Dan be the designated driver for a change of pace.;)

I'll also blame last night on the weather lol. We had planned to just have a quick drink to see our friend but it was one of those deals where both kids had different things right there where we were and the thought of going back and forth for three hours was kind of not appealing in the cold and snow. So we parked ourselves in a booth with a tv right above us with the Olympics and of course I had to order regularly to be nice to the restaurant.;)

We are off to the rec center today, I am having a healthy dinner tonight and I think my splurge for the weekend is over!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good to hear you had a great time last night! I know you can get back on track. Don't let a couple bad days derail you, you've come too far! ;)

Have fun at the rec center! :goodvibes

Glad the headache is going. It's rough getting thru this stage of life. I'm still certain hormones are the cause of my hives & heart palps.

Good for DS doing the fire dept thing. It is so good for him. Stupid for the teacher to suggest he take easier classes just to go into marines. NOT a good idea. Is he saying that marines should be dumb?

I hear you on food, but glad you had a good time. This losing is definitely a journey!

Hope you have a good rest of the weekend & no more snow. The mountains are getting snow again, but other than a tiny bit of light sprinkles when DD & i were trying to walk it has been pretty nice here.
