Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Stay away from the chips, Amy! (this from someone who just had chips, real cheese & peach mango salsa for my meal today:confused3 )

I know you'll do well tonight. Focus on talking not eating & have water along with the coors light. It will help fill you & if you're constantly sipping you won't be constantly 'chipping'.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Amy
Hope your not missing DS too much, I bet hes having a ball :)
Have a lovely evening with DH & your friends :)
Did you behave at breakfast? ;)

Hi Amy,

How did your weekend go? Sending good thoughts, prayers, and :wizard: for your week ahead.

Sorry I have been MIA this long. I spent a nice weekend with dh, mostly just us for the first time in three years! We had not been out even for dinner just the two of us without my parents and the kids in over a year. So we really enjoyed the time together. So it was nice. Backtracking to Friday:

Went to the same diner type place my mom loves (she's been going there since 1970) and my plan as you recall was to order cold cereal. Nope, they are out. Fine, I'll have oatmeal. Nope, sold the last bowl, too late in the morning to make more. Fine, I had two scrambled eggs, one piece of dry wheat toast, subbed tomatoes for potatoes and had two pieces of bacon. That was at 10:30. Did not eat again until dinner except for one thing of carb control yogurt (1 point). I did resist the chips at the Mexican place, but I had two Coors Lights. I ordered a chicken dish that I thought would be healthy, it was swimming in grease. I ate only half and subbed corn tortillas for flour and only ate two of those. So all was okay. The only problem was that we were finished with dinner at 8:00 so we decided to go to a sports bar and watch the games and have some drinks. All the way over I am thinking, I did well and I need to get club soda. Nope, got six, countem six Malibu and diet cokes. Me and my friend Angela started gabbing about her new house and having fun and so I just let loose. So I blew it. And I woke up the next day with the worst hangover! I made a lowfat burger with no cheese on a wheat bun for breakfast. Then had a sandwich for dinner. Then at 8:00 I started in on the baked Doritos. I think I ate half the full sized bag. So way too much salt and too many carbs to even count! I did drink water but just woke up Sunday feeling like somebody blew me up with a bicycle pump. But I did do well on Sunday (yesterday) . I made a nice dinner since ds was coming home and wanted to surprise him with his favorite sausage lasagne. But I made it with turkey sausage and had a very small piece. I also used half the cheese and really could not tell much difference. Today has been good thus far. Oh, and I have not walked since Friday.

I guess the moral of the story is that I had a great time with dh and my friends but just really didn't do well with the whole will power thing. At least I had diet coke with my Malibu :lmao: .

My challenge for this week is to do very well and save all my points for the weekend. I am having a fondue party for friends for dh's birthday. The weekends are great but they kill my best laid plans each and every week. Although this weekend I did have at least one good day and didn't blow it the whole time.

At least I had diet coke with my Malibu :lmao:

:lmao: Amy, you are just cracking me up today! First, your PM (check your PMs) and now this. Thanks for the laugh! By the way, I'm sure the diet coke helped!:thumbsup2

I know that you aren't thrilled with your food choices this weekend, but you know what?

1. The weekend is over! Today's a new day in a new week with new choices. You CAN do this, Amy!

2. You spent quality time with your DH and you had a lot of fun with your friends. Savor those moments and forget the rest. That is an order or I'll make ya walk the plank!!!pirate: :rotfl: Seriously Amy, you are always doing so much for others... I think this weekend was just what you needed after all of the stress of the past few months. You let loose and had a great time.... No worries about that!:goodvibes

3. You did a great job on Sunday! :woohoo: See, you had a couple of days off and you got right back OP. That my friend is a VICTORY, plain and simple. Celebrate it!:cheer2: (Sorry, I seem to be awfully bossy today. ;) )

You are going to have a GREAT week, Amy!

Thanks so much Tracy! I sure did let loose, dh said he was expecting me to get up and start dancing on the table with my friend (who also let loose). It was really fun, but my liver and my diet cannot take too much of that I'll tell ya that much! It was just so fun not be spending Friday night at Country Buffet with my elderly parents God love em! And I am ditching them this Friday to have friends over for Dan's birthday party. But I will try not to let loose quite so much again!

Sounds like you had a fun weekend, Amy! And I'm in the same boat feeling like I've done nothing but eat junk & bad foods. Oh well.... a new day is dawning!! Besides, the diet coke was a victory!!

Hope you have a good rest of the week!

Looks like it was a junk food weekend for a lot of us, add me too, to the list of wishers without willpower!! ;)

Glad you had a good night though, malibu & coke is my favourite drink :goodvibes I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!!!

As others said, it is really important to spend time with DH. We all (or at least I) tend to forget that too often with everything else life is dishing out. Hang in there. Oh, and two beers + 6 rum & cokes on pretty much an empty stomach??? I wouldn't have been able to move the next day! :headache: :rotfl2:

Great job getting right back on track. Have good week, taking it one day at a time! :hippie:

Thanks for the understanding Anna, Tracey, Julie and Tracy! I can definitely say that in the last four or five years the time dh and I used to spend together has definitely suffered. We used to go out a couple of times a month but then when my mom got sick all of that stopped. We are so often tied up with them and since we are their main source of company they need us and we are happy to have the opportunity to spend time with them. But I can really see that I am needing to find some balance in my life. Not only with dh but my kids too since they often dont' get my full attention while I attend to my mom and stepdad. I am definitely sandwiched right now between my parents and my kids and nobody is winning. One thing about it, I made up for lost time on Friday night! Oh and I have to say those were the smallest drinks I have ever had. More like in a juice glass than a drink glass. I should have asked if they supersized to save the waitress six trips back over! I don't even feel guilty about it, just wondering when and how we can go out again!

I have gotten back on track yesterday and today I did manage to get my walk in both days so that was good. With only doing the 20-30 minutes at a time, I have no excuse and therefore can't find too many ways to justify not doing it!

You are doing awesome and you deserved that night of no worries! And getting back on track with your eating and walking is key. I hope you are able to find more balance in your life, that alone makes things so much easier.
Keep it up!!

Hi Amy,

I hear you about finding the proper balance in life. It is so hard sometimes! I think it's great that you and Dan had a fun night out. You guys should do that more often! (Minus the hangover though!:headache: :rotfl: )

Hope you're having a great week!:cool1:

P.S. Any chance you guys will be in WDW this December?

Thanks Amy and Tracy. I think every woman I know struggles to find balance. If one thing is not being neglected and making me feel guilty its another. And I think you can all relate! Letting loose on Friday reminded me sometimes you just gotta have fun!

Tracy: No trip to WDW this December, we are doing October instead. I loved our December trip but it was really hectic going so close to Christmas. Plus my kids have school until right before (21st I think). It was so nice going early this year since they got out early. One of these days we'll meet up at WDW. Or maybe we'll be neighbors in Florida and laugh our butts off in the winter while we wear shorts!

I did very well with food again today. I had a nice salad for dinner. An old friend came by, I hadn't seen her since I lost weight and thought she might notice but no dice. It really depressed me and the urge to overeat was intense. But I did the salad and watched HGTV for an hour instead. Dh took the kids out for pizza which was nice for him to spend time alone and nice for me to have some time to get out of my funk! It just sucks to be down about 30 pounds and have very few people notice. Maybe the next 10 will make a difference in the way I look. But its really about how I feel and I do feel so much better. People can't notice that but I do!

I am planning on weighing in tomorrow but dd was not feeling well tonight. Probably jsut too much pizza but if she is not feeling well tomorrow I will go on Thrusday or Friday. I am committed to my meetings and since I am doing the monthly pass its dumb not to go since I pay even if I skip.

I told all our friends who are coming for Dan's birthday dinner Friday night that I would have the fondue pots filled with broth not oil. Who needs fried meat? I am sure that once the chocolate fondue course and birthday cake comes around I'll be like a pig with a purpose but I am trying to cut calories in the rest of the meal. And I am limiting myself to two drinks :rolleyes1 !

Did you make it to WI? If so, I hope it was good news!

The fondue party sounds fun! And since it is at your house, you have control over everything, which makes it even easier to stay on track. In the past for parties I would plan out everything I was going to eat on FitDay and check it off. When everything was checked off, I was out of luck, since basically I am too lazy to go back and edit FitDay... :rolleyes1 You can always stick to fruit for the chocolate fondue part, at least it won't be SO bad that way!!! :goodvibes

Aww... :( I was hoping we would get a chance to meet up this December. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to do the neighbor thing in Florida then. ;) And did you say that we would "laugh our butts off in the winter"? Hmmm... Maybe I need to get down to Florida A.S.A.P.:rotfl: Espcially since I can't seem to freeze my butt off here in Ohio!:lmao:

Your plans for Dan's party sounds like fun! I hope you all have a wonderful time... Don't forget to have "one" (or more than one!:rotfl: ) for your WISH sisters, okay?:yay:

Have a great Thursday!:goodvibes

Hi Amy
We did wdw in October & it was great - especially MNSSHP :)
Well done on sticking with the salad, maybe your friend did notice & just didnt mention anything!!!
& like you say how you 'feel' is more important :)
Have a great fondue night & enjoy your 2..ish drinks :rotfl2:

Hi Amy,

You're definitely right about needing to find a balance! It seems like one of the hardest things to do. Good for you for having a let-loose time.

Enjoy your weekend!

Where are you, Amy??? How did the party go last night? I hope all is well.

Here is the post I did yesterday that for some reason would not post: (This was done Friday afternoon)

Sorry I have been MIA so long. I just got caught up with all of you, it sounds like you guys are doing better than I am!

I am not eating too much but just not doing as well as I did last week. I have had some salads but have only walked two days this week. TOM hit again, after only one lousy week. Last week's was too short and therefore too good to be true. I never did lose the bloated feeling and now I know why, I guess my body wasn't done torturing me! I have just felt awful, completely wiped out and very weepy and depressed. I took dd and two of her friends to see Charlotte's Web yesterday. I have seen the original cartoon and read the book a million times but I am telling you when Charlotte died at the end I was a mess. Oh, and I ate popcorn (small no butter) which was the last thing I needed: carbs, fat and salt.

Fondue party is tonight. I am responsible for the meat, everybody else is doing the salad, cheese and chocolate. Kids are having pizza, I can't afford to give steak and shrimp to 8 kids! The house is not where it should be cleanliness wise so I see me running around vacuming 10 minutes before everyone arrives. And we have an artic front here complete with snow, ice and freezing temps. Got to 18 below last night. Dogs and kids are stir crazy and school for my ds started 1.5 hours late today which threw off my whole morning. After I finally got him off, I was just getting on the treadmill when my friend called, her dd's bus never showed and Ashley had been waiting at the stop for 45 minutes and my friend was at work. So I hopped off the treadmill and went and got her to run her to school. Came home and did not get back on the treadmill since puppy has barfed all over the downstairs. It is obvious she has gotten into something that has not agreed with her. I am just so sick of this weather. The cities are all out of de-icer for the streets so they are using sand now which will make everything just that much dirtier and yucky. That groundhog had better be right or I will find him and kill him!

I am going to try to stick with the meat(got lean steak, shrimp and chicken) and I will have one piece of dh's birthday cake. I may avoid the chocolate it will give me a serious headache. I am also limiting myself to two rum and diets. No repeat of last Friday!

I missed weigh in this week due to weather and dd being sick. So I am going next week. Hated to miss but just couldn't make it. That was another bummer about ds starting school late, he started the same time my meeting did and so I couldnt' go. Just got me in a bad mood right off the bat!
