"Amuck, amuck, amuck!" A Pre-TR (link to TR in the first post)

I thought that they have a better Halloween department this year than normal.

That's good to know. More/better selection is always a good thing. :thumbsup2

They had potion bottles and things like that, that would make fun decorations for a party. Things I have never seen before.

I keep going back and forth, and back and forth on whether or not to get a costume for myself for the ToT party. :sad2:
I'd like to, but they are so expensive. I can't see spending $40-$50 for something I will wear for one night. Plus I have to get the kids into their costumes and I'm not sure I'll want to fool with getting myself ready.

They have their costumes already. Well, the girls do. Adam isn't going to dress up. I bought Lindsey and Hannah's last year from Disneyshopping on sale after Halloween.

Noelle's we bought little by little over the summer. She's going as an 80's Valley Girl so I bought her a miniskirt, a tank top, some gloves, LOTS of accessories, funky shoes, leggings, and we used a jean jacket she already had. I think it's cute in an over-the-top, fun 80's kind of way. LOL

I'm sure all total on hers I spent way over $50. And even though the twins costumes were bought on sale, they are still pricey. But for some reason I don't mind spending the money on my kids but I can't bring myself to do it for myself.

Some pics of the kids from the last time we tried on their costumes:

Here is Lindsey in her Pocahontas costume. We also got the necklace, the head piece, and the boots. The moccasin style boots should be pretty comfy for walking all over the park.

This is Hannah in her Sleeping Beauty costume. The problem with her is I'm not sure what shoes to have her wear. :confused3 You can't see them in this pic, but she was wearing her black church shoes. Those are pretty, but might end up hurting her feet after awhile. Sneakers would be the most comfy, but you can't wear those with a princess dress.

And this is Noelle's 80's costume. I'm going to have her wear some different socks then the ones in this pic. Some white slouchy ones pushed down. That's how I used to wear mine. LOL I love all the accessories we found for her. The earrings, and all the bracelets especially. Gotta love Claires!

Love the Valley girl look.:goodvibes

Go do the thrift stores and build yourself a costume.

And just like that I answered the question of should I dress up or not. :lmao:

I'm not going to. Why would I spend $50 on a costume for one night when I could spend that money at Micheals on something for my Halloween village that I want to start?? DUH!! :headache: :rotfl:

I might look for a pumpkin tee or something if I can find one cheap, but I'll save the money for something that will last longer then one wearing.

Gee thanks! That was easy! :rotfl2:

Well....Target usually has some cute holiday t-shirts.

Thanks. She asked me if I really dressed like that.

Ahem......well, yeah basically. :rotfl2: Wild hair, bright colors, and mini skirts. I lived in mini skirts. I went to a private school with a strict dress code and I was always getting in trouble for my skirts being too short. :rolleyes1

Of course back in high school I had the body to wear a mini skirt. Not anymore.

Hmmm, I'm dating myself with all this 80's talk. LOL

Yeah. Target or Walmart. Any place like that. If it's around $10 I'll be happy.

Help yourself, Disneygrl!

it's from a great site called, disney-myspace.com

There! I've told at least 100 people about it by posting it here on the dis and I can use their graphics guilt free now. :rotfl:

ah yeah I thought I recognized the site...they are affiliated with I heart disney...use them alot

I love those! I really need to get over to Michaels and see what they have out for Halloween. Did you happen to notice if they have their Halloween villages set up?

nooooooooo what you need to do is get finished on this PTR:lmao:

I have seen girls wearing jelly-type sandals. It gives kind of a glass slipper effect (I know, wrong princess).

Love the costumes. We were leading a retreat all weekend, and I should be doing chores, but this thread got me hooked on jib jab. Wanna see DH and me celebrating having 2 kids in college? Check this out.

But, but, but...... I still have lots of time until my trip. And shopping is much more fun. ;)

OMG! That is so funny!!! :rotfl2: Yours turned out great. The pics you used were perfect. Very cute. :thumbsup2

Jelly type sandals might work. We'll see. Next time I'm out I'll have to see what I can find. I don't want her complaining half way through the evening that her feet hurt so in the end I'll go with comfort over fashion I guess.

Hope you had a nice time on your retreat. :)

Those pics were from my one and only Dis meet, which was in PA, of all places. We got to meet several Dis'ers there. Hence, the happy faces.
You are right that your girls need to be comfortable more than anything else. DL is not so fun when your feet hurt.:headache:

I love the girls outfits! Espcially the 80's one That looks REALLY (unfortunately) authentic :lmao: (Relax, don't do it!)

I couldn't grasp whether or not you decided on a costume for yourself but here is my two cents: Face make up only! It's all about ghoulish and if you look ghoulish, you can be wearing just about anything! Cheap and easy. There are tons of easy techniques for good looks.

Hi Beth - I am coming out of lurkdom to tell you how much I have been enjoying your PTR! I have some medical issues and am home recovering from surgery; I'm a Disney lover ! I can even shop "vicariously" through you! Your posts are always interesting. I am going to DL with my son (25) in mid Dec - the first time to see the holiday decorations (not the first to DL). I was telling him about the posts on the Carnegie Deli and now he thinks we should go to Vegas instead. I think maybe we'll do DL in Dec. and Vegas after the New Year (if I am up to it!) He's been to LV, I have not. Can't wait to read the rest of your PTR and then the TR! I guess at his age I should be happy he even wants to go away with me! Although he does do vacations with his friends!

No, it's not. Been there, done that. Ouch!!

Hey, Frankie Goes to Hollywood!! :rotfl: Oh man, how tacky where the 80's??? But I love it. LOL

As for the costume, I think I decided not to wear one and use the money I would have spent on that to buy something from Micheals to start up my Halloween village.
A Halloween t-shirt is probably about all I'll do if anything. Make-up might work too though. We'll see. Cheap and easy is always a good thing. :thumbsup2

Hi there! First of all, thank you so much for unlurking (is that even a word? LOL) to say hello. And thank you for the nice comments and for reading along. :)

I'm sorry to hear you are recovering from a surgery. Wait, that sounds wrong. I'm very happy you are recovering! I'm sorry you had to have surgery in the first place. There, that sounds better.
I'm glad I could keep you entertained with all my ramblings. :rotfl:

Secondly, how great that you are taking a trip with your son. That's really sweet. I hope I'm still taking trips with my kids when they are that age.

You will love the Christmas decorations. Although I am a Halloween fan, even I can admit just how pretty and magical it is at Christmas time. We were there last December and we had a blast. The parade is really cute, so try to make sure to see that.

As for Vegas, I think that's a great idea! After New Years it shouldn't be too crowded and you might be able to snag some great deals on hotels and shows. Plus it will be much cooler. Actually it can get pretty darn cold here at times, but I always say it's easier to bundle up for cold weather. When it's hot, there's only so much you can take off. :rolleyes1

If you have any questions, or anything, about the area, just let me know and I'll be happy to see what I can do.
Thanks again for reading along.

You know all the talk about feet hurting got me to thinking about all the woman who wear high heels that you see at Disneyland. And you know I am wondering about something like Ked's that style would work with the 80's look.

Well come on over to Vegas and get some. We've got plenty left. You can get a sugar rush and then hit the Strip. :cool1: LOL

Am I invited!!!!!!?

:lmao: Well you are really in trouble with me then! My sig and avatar are subject to change almost daily sometimes. :rotfl: Just remember my name, 'kay? ;)

Yeah really, I remember someones sig saying that it was set until next year...now who was that...? ;)

I thought that they have a better Halloween department this year than normal.

I agree totally!

Hmmm, I'm dating myself with all this 80's talk. LOL

Actually, it's your age that is dating you! :rotfl:

If I'm dressing up, you are too! Come on, get in the spirit!!! :cheer2:

Thanks! And yes, it was easy! Thanks for posting it. When I was out shopping today I almost bought the stuff to make the Kitty Litter Cake (I posted links to it earlier in my PTR or you can Google it) but I am just not sure about that one. I'm afraid it will look so gross that no one will eat it and then I'll have wasted all my time and money. LOL We'll see.

My friend Kate made a kitty litter cake..it was so realistic and disgusting..YET amazingly hilarious and suprisingly tasty..once you really made up your mind that those "droppings" were truly tootsie rolls

Thanks, Beth, for your nice reply to my post. I appreciate your offer for ideas to help with my planning for the trip to Vegas. I love spending time researching and planning trips and need all the help I can get for LV. Now I'm reading your June TR and enjoying it, of course.

Oh, I know! How can you wear high heels to a theme park?? It always amazes me to see the old pics of back when the men used to wear suits and the women would wear dresses and heels to DL. Quite different then today.

For Noelle's 80's look I think she's ok with those funky orange shoes. LOL They are kind of a Ked's style, but they were from Walmart for only 5 bucks. Can't beat that deal. So even though she'll probably only wear them once for the party and once for Halloween night, I don't mind.

I remember having some Keds. I loved those shoes.
