Anyone familar with taking the amtrack from SD to Anaheim, how it works, or with amtrak in general, I have never taken it, but I neeed a cheap/reasonable way to get from SD to Anaheim late on a sunday and I don't think America west or southwest flys between them....

any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

I've never taken the train between SD and Anaheim, but I am familiar with both the Anaheim station and the Fullerton station (the 2 closest to DL). The Anaheim station is at Anaheim Stadium. Other than an OCTA shuttle bus which probably isn't running on Sunday evenings, I don't know how much public transportation is around it (not that you couldn't call for a cab). I'm sure cab fare from that station would be cheaper than from Fullerton, though I know that there are usually a couple cabs hanging out at the Fullerton train station, plus a lot of buses (#43 goes by DL--I used to ride it all the time when I was going to college in Fullerton and had an AP).

We rode Amtrak from LAX to ANA and found the California train system to be wonderful. The train was quick, on time, clean, and a great mode of transportation. We did not want to deal with the California highways. The personnel was so friendly at both stations. When we got to the train station, there were several cabs out front - and we asked them if they would take us to the Disneyland Hotel for $10. It worked great, and I would totally recommend it to anyone!

Thanks for both quick replies!!

Transportation from the depot shouldn't be a problem... I need to run up to anaheim for a work convention at the DL hotel, and will be in SD for a graduation on sunday, so I was trying to figure out a way to not cancel on the graduation and still attend the work thing in anaheim, it starts at 730-800 am on monday morning, so i need to get there sunday night.

Katie... did you ride coach or business class? Can you describe the seat conditions?

Any other comments are appreciated.

Thanks

I used to ride the train from San Diego to LA when I had to be in LA for meetings - hated driving in LA traffic. I enjoyed it as it allowed me to get work done on the train. Definitely spring for the business class car. I have also taken the train from Del Mar to Anaheim to go to Disneyland - there are cabs there and the ride is a short one.

You can check out the schedule by Googling "amtrak schedule san diego anaheim" to decide which train is best for you.

They do have a train that leaves a bit after 6:00 am on weekdays, but I don't think it gets to Anaheim until 8:00 am (plus there could be delays)

Good Luck
