Americans at Disney Paris

the train station is at the park entrance. There is also a direct bus from charles de gaulle airport

Well, I guess it can't get too much easier than that, can it ;)

Hey, hello Janet :wave2: I've been on that board before but not lately. I'll have to come and check it out again.

We don't have a definite date set but somewhere between May to September of 2007 probably :confused3 I want to go when the weather is decent, although that's no guarantee. The last time we went to Holland it was June/July and it rained every single day for 3 weeks :umbrella:

Just to echo the earlier suggestion - head over to the DLRP forums for a look!

I'm an AP holder for Paris...it's wonderful - there are many aspects like WDW but many that are different. Don't go expecting a Magic Kingdom replication.

The Studios whilst small are fun.

There are many plus points (the interaction of characters at Halloween was incredible). The biggest moans I have about it are rude people (of all nations), people smoking everywhere and the unorganised character greetings).

Saying that, I'd go again tomorrow if I could!

I think it is discovering the differences between the parks that is the fun part.

If you are going expecting an exact replica of the Magic Kingdom, you might just as well go to the Magic Kingdom :confused3

as a british person i find the queuing system in DLP very claustrophobic-especially on space mountain, having said that i didn't witness any of the running to get on rides first at park opening, this seems to be purely an american thing. The only thing i wish they would sort out in paris is the character meetings. They just tend to let people congregate around them instead of organising a queue.Any adults without children have got almost no chance of getting photos unless you are prepared to bully your way forward.

i noticed the exact same thing! i (at 21 years old) still love collecting character autographs and still use my same autograph book i've had since 1996. however, with no queueing for the characters, parents would just push their little kids at the characters and to even get close to them it would have meant shoving the little kids out of the way - which obviously i was not going to do! it was really mass chaos. i did find it cool however when the Queen of Hearts signed her name in French!

We visited DLP this last November, were there on Thanksgiving Day and the two days after. We combined the visit with a 5 day stay in Paris and it was a great end to our trip. The Christmas decorations were up and the holiday parade was very enjoyable. The weather was very very cold and there were no crowds at all, so did not experience the lines. The parks are much smaller, but are close together and you can walk between the two parks and the Disney Village which is convenient. The set-up is very similar to Universal/IOA and City Walk. The train station and bus stops are located a short distance from the entrance with good service to the hotels. We actually stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was very nice and we got a great rate online.
If ever in the Paris area again, I would not hesitate to return.

We stayed at the DLH and there was loads of caracter interaction. If any of you are planning a trip to Paris you should speak to the people on the Paris
Disboard, as previously said they are extremley friendly and helpful and most love DLP and WDW.

Just back from a holiday at Disney Resort Paris (were English) and was very suprised to here so many American accents. It was very nice to hear, do many Dis'ers plan to or have gone to Paris? and what did you think of it?
Thanks so much! It sounds like I may be able to handle it-I don't speak French. DH's company's headquarters is in Paris, and I was thinking of flying with him sometime when he goes. Then while he does his business, I'd take a solo trip to DLP (he's not that big a "Disney nut" so he wouldn't mind me going without him). I was rather intimidated about the language barrier, but I'm more comfortable now.

Simba's mum you will find everyone can speak english. Conversation usally start 'bonjour' we say 'hello or bonjour' back and then the conversation goes on in english. It is part of the fun to try to understand some french, but not necessary.

We went a few years ago, I remember the cigarette smoke being an issue too, but it was fun to discover similarities and differences. I bought my favorite Mickey Mouse jacket there. However, if anyone has an opportunity you definitely need to go to TDL, the experience there is awesome.

I would love to visit all the Disney parks around the world....it's convincing DH to go outside the country that's stopping us!

Simba's Mom

Do not hesitate to go alone, you will have no trouble with the language. We arrived in Paris not speaking but a few words of French and were able to navigate the airport, train system, all the tourist areas of Paris and DLP with no problem. Most people in these areas speak enough English to communicate with you. As long as you know Bonjour and Merci, you will be fine. You can take the RER train from Paris straight to the gates of the parks.

I went to DL Paris in 2001. We didn't go to Paris for Disney, but we decided to go once we got there. I thought it lacked the magic of WDW, and we didn't like it as much. There seemed to be many rude people there too. Not sure if it was the time of year. We also went to Asterix Park and preferred that while in France - and I love Disney.
