:wave2: Happy Thanksgiving Canadian DIS pals! 🦃 Wishing you all warm and happy times with friends and family around your tables this weekend.

Is anybody travelling for the holiday? We’re headed back to my hometown 500 miles north. The weather has been glorious this fall but it could well be blizzarding by the time we head home on Monday.

There will only be three of us here on T-giving Day, and one of us hates turkey, so our holiday will be untraditional. As it is, my daughter is able to come home tonight to celebrate, but we will be having steak, since I don't have time to pull off anything more festive and I don't want to be eating leftovers for weeks between the two or three of us left here. Enjoy your holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours as well!
🦃🍁. Safe travels (fingers crossed for good clear roads for you)

A different kind of Thanksgiving here this year.. we usually have anywhere from 18 to 23 around the table, this year everyone is spread out enjoying different commitments to their new or extended families. We just couldn’t coordinate this time around and accommodate everyone’s timing needs. So we will still gather.. but we are expecting between 6 and 9 as of last count.

I love this time of the year.. bright temperate days and beautiful fall colours bring a real sense of contentment. 😊

We are not traveling this year, we are having a joint thanksgiving dinner with our friends who live next door to us. We are keeping it small this year, only 12 people last time I counted.

As for weather, we're in Victoria, BC so if I don't end up running between the two houses wearing shorts and flip flops, then is it really Thanksgiving? :rotfl:

Do you enjoy the series? I made a thread for the new series, so I’m curious if Canada will have any interest.

Haven’t watched it yet, I did enjoy the original series way back when though. 🙂 The nice thing about it being on a streaming platform.. I don’t miss anything - I get to watch when it fits my schedule.

90’s Walker is better than the reboot in my opinion, but Walker Independence that premiered yesterday is even better than both of them. I love that they are doing Walker’s 4 times great grandparents story that we only had little details about in the original series. I don’t know how much of the Reconstruction Era of US history is taught in Canada but it is cleverly well done in the new series. Just an FYI if you didn’t know that era was in the 1870’s right after the Civil War. Without giving away spoilers from the pilot, I think it will give some of the international viewers some insight on some glossed over US history that should be taught more (with some fictional characters and some creative licensing of course). I think they are going to bring up the post CW “carpetbagging” issue that the North and South viewed differently at the time that is rarely talked about today in my opinion.

My family is getting together on Monday for the annual Thanksgiving feast. I will be making from scratch rolls, and this year I’m also attempting an apple pie. It’s for my daughters birthday, which will be celebrated Monday, and she doesn’t like cake. She’s had a pie for as long as I can remember. I usually just buy one, but feel like making it this year.

Pro-tip: Use both Granny Smith (for flavour) and Golden Delicious (for texture) apples in your pie. You got this - and a very happy birthday to your DD. party:

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my fellow Canadians near and far :)

We are having our dinner on Sunday night and having ham instead of turkey as apparently I was the only one who wanted turkey this year :rolleyes1 Monday night we are going out for dinner to celebrate my husbands' birthday, which is on Wednesday and being a work day would be hard to go out for dinner on his actual bday as his work days are long.

Happy Thanksgiving !

We won’t be traveling just got home yesterday . Decided to drive down to get on our Wish cruise starting Sept. 26. Ian hit and we got 2 extra days on the ship getting off Sunday instead of Friday. Our B2B was canceled so got our money back from that and 20% off next cruise.

So last night I speed shopped for turkey breast only and a ham. Couldn’t find cranberries but that’s ok only husband likes them here…lol wouldnt have really had much but my daughter is coming home tomorrow and wants Thanksgiving.

Off to do 2 weeks worth of wash. We needed this vacation it’s been a long 3 years with nothing. But nice to be home.

:sail:Wow - how was that experience for you? Were you ever in the thick of it, or did the ship just sail away from the storm and stay there? We've cruised a lot during the fall and have always had good luck, but these things certainly do happen. I'd like to hear more about the adventure, if you'd care to tell. Sorry it up-ended your plans, but the credit is nice. Happy Thanksgiving! :wave2:

Canadians, do you guys have parades/fireworks on Canadian Thanksgiving?

Not where I live. There are a few fall fairs and some cultural festivals.. but no parades and definitely no fireworks.

Blue Jays, Leaf’s play today.. Raptors and Toronto FC play tomorrow - all at home. Pretty typical for a Thanksgiving weekend here.

We had heavy rain when we went to Nassau on Tuesday. When we went to Castaway Cay the next day I heard us trying to get in or felt it because I got out of bed to look out. Couldn’t see anything so foggy , the captain even came on in the cabins at 7:00 am and said no we can’t make it.

After that we moved out into the Atlantic a bit behind an island and kept going around and round…lol even found some sun. Had to rush back to Nassau for a medical emergency. That was fun had to wait for 6 ships to leave before we cold get in. That took 1 1/2 hours.

We got free wifi because people had to change their flights to Sunday , this was after they told people to change them before we left port to after 3pm on Friday. The day we were suppose to come in.

We went to Castaway Cay on Saturday. It was beautiful day. Couldn’t go back to port that day because 7 ships were coming in , Fantasy had to come in to keep on schedule. It was cool to see like 10 boats all around us Friday night waiting to go in on Saturday.

This was the map I don’t think this is the last one though. Took a picture everyday…lol

Sorry didn’t mean to write a trip report…lol
