Ah yes, the Jays are in the play-offs!! Another bandwagon for me to jump on, but this one may be a very short ride.

Your poor fan base. How do you go on rooting for such a cursed team? For the record, I would love to see them put up a challenge to the Yankees consistently. How did you become a Canadian Mets fan?Mets.![]()
So just like Canadian NHL teams....I’m thinking if the Jays do what all Toronto teams do.. they win today - get our hopes up then… we’ll, you know.
They’re a good young team.. I think they’ve got the goods to go on further.
I’m holding out hope.![]()

Or are you a Blue Jays fan as well? I’m sort of confused.![]()

Sorry - I’m having a “dumb” day and not quite getting this part. Are you a Raps fan or not?The quickest way to get a rise out of a Yankees fan is one simple word - Mets.
I will always support the home town teams.. but not unlike some of my fellow Canadians here on the thread.. unless it’s the Raptors, I keep up via the media until a playoff spot is in play - then slow down that bandwagon so I can jump on!![]()

Do you root for Canada in every sport too? Genuinely curious. Like with the WC, will you watch all the Canada games or only if they make it to the final (as @prairie_girl has said on the subject)? No judgment on sports bandwagoning, just curious if you have a big interest in sports in general.Huge Raps fanWent back to clarify in the previous post.

Tune into my WC thread for updates.I have a genuine interest.. I will root for Canada in the WC. Watching the games will depend on who our team is playing and how important the game is to our standing in the tournament. I will not be doing wall to wall watching of the World Cup. I watch most Raptors games.. but have been known to fall asleep when they are playing on the west coast and games don’t start til 10pm EST or later.
Sorry about the Blue Jays loss. You guys actually deserved to win.I have a genuine interest.. I will root for Canada in the WC. Canada will probably need 2 wins and a draw in the group stage of the WC to get into the second round. Keep in mind that Les Rouges hasn’t scored a goal ever in the WC. So everyone in Canada will see sports history when that happens. Canada will be playing Belgium, Croatia, and Morocco in their group stage matches. Top 2 teams in the group move on. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. Every game is important in this tournament. Lose the first two games and you are out most likely. This will be the only time the WC will be in the winter (due to corruption) and the last time it will be 32 teams (it’s going to increase to 48 teams in North America 2026). I’m rooting for a USA/Canada final (yes, I know it’s an unlikely possibility). Thanks for answering my question. If you have any questions on the tournament, feel free to ask them in my WC thread (okay that’s the end of my soccer rant).
To Canadians, what was a very Canadian dish you ate for thanksgiving?

It was hard to watch a 7 run lead disappear.. All in all a really good game, with a bad outcome for the Jays.
The outfield collision between Springer & Bichette was brutal.. very hard to watch.
55,000 fans went from roaring cheering to absolute silence. The only word on Springer is more testing needed to determine the extent of his injuries.
Thanksgiving celebrations are usually on the Sunday or Monday of the holiday weekend.. our menu is pretty much the same as in the US - turkey and all the traditional trimmings. - but no candied yams in my house.
(but.. if I’m serving a ham dinner instead of turkey.. I glaze my ham with pure Canadian maple syrup and cloves)
Happy good eating.Ours are pretty similar to American ones! In the last, turkey with mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, gravy, and green salad. Over the years we added cauliflower au gratin and have moved away from turkey and are doing ham and roast beef today. Dessert is pumpkin pie and probably cupcakes to celebrate some birthdays.
