People complain about him being fake and theatrical but when he actually isn't fake it is an unfortunate mistake. He's a grown man and I think that sitting down in the middle and refusing to take a stand is very overdone and just silly.

Funny you mentioned fake and theatrical. I've spent many years around college musical theatre programs. There are more than a few triple threat folks who can sing amazingly. I am very curious to see if he can make a successful career as a artist. If he doesn't have staying power, he'll do great back on Broadway.

And about the sitting down--I'm not crazy about Ryan inviting anyone to make a choice. It's just that making a silly safe choice in that situation is far more savvy in the long run. Anything else can cost votes.

Maybe, but I really don't think so. If Adam had wanted to be politcally correct, (and kind of lovable) he would have sat down in the middle.
That he decided to make a selection of who the "winners" for the night were was an unfortunate mistake.

I had little hope for Danny or Allison but I think things might change. Matt fans may not be very happy with the choice Adam made. We will see???

Just before Adam choose the group, he said "Based on last night", then choose Danny & Allison. Which still doesn't answer whether HE thought they were the best or he thought the voters did or what. I thought I had missed Ryan saying which side had the high or low vote count but apparently he didn't. So the whole thing was . Well, Adam is different, again he didn't do what was expected & not choose a side.

As friendly as they may be, they are all in it to win.

Excellent points. ITA. Matt had already been voted off once, and saved. His side appeared to be the weaker one, no question.
Adam's actions may encourage Matt fans to vote like crazy for anyone but Adam. We'll have to wait and see--could be very interesting!

Not true. The first couple of years they did. I think it was Bo Bice who was the first to refuse to join a side. And, Ryan's question is different every year too. Sometimes he asked them to join the top group..."because you're safe", then points out that that is NOT the top group. This year they asked him to join the group he thought he belonged with. Yes I'm sure Adam knows who the strongest group is, but weren't they mixed up last night? Judging by both Simon's critiques and the general consensus on this board, Allison and Matt should have been in the bottom. And who knows? The producers/judges/Ryan might have TOLD them they couldn't go in the middle, just so they could get the shock factor.
At any rate, I don't think it is going to cause any problems in the house.

OK, since I missed the show I am just reading that Adam apparently went and stood on the side with the ones that he thought were staying. I, too, wonder how that will affect the atmosphere in the mansion.
I guess I missed a great show last night. Sadly, I forgot to set the DVR!

You can set the DVR to record every single episode of American Idol so you don't have to do it every night it's on.

Adam's screeching gets on my one last nerve, but he seems nice enough. Making him pick a side was painful to watch. Perhaps he should have chosen the side he thought contained the Bottom 2 (3 including him). Then if he was really in a group composed of the Top 3, they would have moved him over and he could jump for joy. However, if he truly was in the Bottom 3, then choosing that group would make him look humble and modest. I guess you could say picking the Top 2 group made him look confident, but to many, it made him look arrogant and conceited.

I'm not saying he is those things....He was put in an awkward position and anyone could have failed to do the perfect thing, which was REFUSE to pick a side. He didn't have to dramatically sit in the floor, but just stick to his guns and say, "I can't possibly say which group I belong in, so I can't choose. That's up to the voters" and made Ryan look even more like a *******.

I don't think they should put any of them in a position to choose a side - but if so, they should simply decline. I doubt it is in the contract that they must choose a side.

I don't think Adam will leave before it's down to 3, but it will depend on next week..not sure if he will be in the top two..but one never knows this show..that's the suspense and aggravation of it all!!!

Just bought the iTune studio recording of Adam singing "Feeling Good" and I think that it is fantastic. A lot of people here are critical of Adam's last high note (which he was able to hold for an unbelievable amount of time). The studio recording does not end with this note but it blends beautifully into a quiet end to the song. I think it just makes this performance even more fantastic. I know that it won't change the opinion of those who have already decided against him but it is worth a listen if you haven't.

You have to buy the performance version to get the photo, it doesn't come with the studio version. After buying the performance version, it will automatically be downdloaded and show up on your purchased download list.

They do this every year now, it's not a surprise. Unfortunately, whatever they do people will have an opinion about it. I DOES peek interest, though, and they know it.
