Okay, double Styx references here ..

first, the opening notes made me think of "Snowblind"

second, the way he held that note reminded me of the way Dennis DeYoung held a note when singing Suite Madame Blue on their live album.

can any contestant have the theatrical dramatic opening if the want? Not knocking Adam AT ALL, but he always has such dramatic lighting, etc., and it REALLY adds to the performance.

They all probably could, but with his background, he's more likely to know what it takes to make a performance bigger.

My favorites: Allison, Adam, & Kris followed closely by Danny. Did not like Matt at all this week.

The staging, outfits and, to a great part, the arrangements are up to the contestants. Adam is the one who decides how he wants to make an entrance and how the stage should be lit. I think the others simply don't have the stage experience and don't have a clue as to how to present themselves effectively.

It was too dramatic for me. I liked the beginning better than the end of Adam's performance.

I've loved Adam from the beginning, but I don't think he's "commercial" enough. He IS very theatrical...very Vegas or Broadway (some nights maybe more "Cirque"! ). I think Danny or Kris are much more "mainstream" and ready to be on the radio right now.
