American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

This is in response to posts on this thread as well as some of the other AI threads that I've seen come up. Ok watch out, this is gonna be long.

First of all, I just find it funny that all of the "this show is fixed" comments are coming up. This happens every single year! Simon could not stand Taylor Hicks, so why did the producers "let" him win? And last year, the judges all gave David Archuleta a tongue bath every week as you all call it, so why did the producers "let" David Cook win? While I do agree that the judges will try to manipulate things a bit, this show is not fixed people! If so, the "chosen one" would have won every year. Two years ago, did Melinda win? No. Last year, David Archuleta was the "chosen one" and did he win? No. This was only one year ago! I remember that constantly people would complain about how this show was so fixed and it wasn't fair that David Archuleta was going to win because the judges/producers were "shoving him down our throats." I would think just last year alone is proof enough that this show isn't fixed. That's why I was kinda glad David Cook won just to show everyone that this show isn't fixed. I would say that I want Kris to win just to prove that this show isn't fixed. But then next year, the comments about the show being fixed will show up once again, just like every other season. I have to say that I just always find these posts amusing.

I've also noticed that there are many Danny fans who will now be voting for Kris, solely for the reason that they can't stand Adam. Seriously? Don't you have anything better to do with your time? If you don't like either contestant and wouldn't consider buying cd's from either, why would you waste your time voting? In season 3, I couldn't stand either of the two in the final 2. Did I vote? No. Why should I even care who won at that point? Sorry this mentality (just like VFTW) just seems so childish to me. I say vote for who you like and if you really don't like either contestant than don't even bother voting!

And all these posts about Katie Perry endorsing Adam not being fair are really ridiculous. How on earth is this unfair???? She's a celebrity showing off who her favorite contestant is. What's the big deal? Can any of you honestly say that you will now be voting for Adam just because Katie Perry likes him? I seriously doubt that. During the elections, many celebrities were vocal in who they supported. If my favorite celebrity was voting for Obama/McCain/whoever else, would that make me change my vote? Heck no! And I'm sure it wouldn't change others votes either. Other celebrities have picked their American Idol favorites. What about when Jennifer Hudson was on earlier this season? She let us know that her favorite contestant was Lil. Does anyone remember posts about how that was unfair? I sure don't. And that's because there's nothing wrong with them showing who their favorites are. Just because it's Adam it was unfair. If Katie Perry's cape had said Kris on it instead, no one would have even batted an eye over that.

Seriously, what could Adam/the judges/the producers do that isn't unfair? Adam goes first...it's not fair. Adam goes last...it's not fair. Adam goes somewhere in the middle...it's also not fair. The judges liked Adam's performance...it's not fair. Shall we make a list of everything about Adam that isn't fair? It's getting to the point where I really can't help but laugh over some of the things about Adam that "aren't fair."

Oh and for those of you that are boycotting the show because your favorite didn't win....I seriously doubt the producers feel threatened. :rotfl:

Ok now flame away! I'm ready. :lmao:

:thumbsup2 No flames from me. I totally agree. I wasn't a Danny fan and I'm not a huge Kris fan, but I just don't understand why some people have to blast everything about Adam. I is almost comical how much time people have put into making sure everyone knows how much they dislike Adam and how unfair it is that he is were he is now. I wonder if it would the be same way if it was the other way around? IDK, maybe it would be, but it is hard to imagine.

What I have hated most about the turn of this thread is that it has become a peeing contest on who can say what they hate about the other person the most. The fun has left! If someone says they don't like something about Danny, you are bashed for it and pretty much called a Christian hater because he is blah, blah, blah. If you say you don't like something about Adam you are told how you don't understand the music, blah, blah, blah. And the same does apply to several of the Kris lovers too (just not as much ;)). It is sad that you can't state you opinion without being lectured and jumped on for it.

If you like someone, then say why you like them, don't switch it around and just say why you don't like the other person. I haven't really read very many posts that me anything about why they like Danny or Kris, just what they don't like about Adam. popcorn::

But Danny will be able to do great things now that he won't have to be limited to what the AI producers want. This is a great thing for him. Did you see his interview after AI last night. He said he was relieved he could finally be himself!

Where did you see this interview? I'd love to find it somewhere. Danny was my guy and I was totally bummed when he was booted!:sad1:

But I actually like Kris and Adam as well. I'm not sure who I'll vote for next week. I'll probably wait to see the performances on Tuesday before deciding.

Here it is from mj's. It is probably not the entire interview.

Source: zap2it

The scream at the end of “Dream On” Was it the beginning of the end? “Who knows? I was actually thinking about that this morning because the week before [the scream] I had a really good performance. I wanted to have a big song that week and I took a risk. So late in the competition, you don’t want to have a performance like that. See, everything up to that point was good and I rehearsed that scream so much that it hurt my vocal chords. It was funny, though, it was a very funny scream.”

Did he think his time was up when Kris was called as the first one in the finale? “I knew it was it for me. I was very confident in the fact that it was it for me. Actually, the whole day I kinda thought it was it for me. Did I want it to be it for me? No, I wanted to go for the gold and it didn’t work out that way. I’m a competitor, I like to compete and I gave it what I gave it. Looking back, would I have done things different? Absolutely. But I’m proud of my accomplishments, coming from losing my wife 10 months ago to coming this far in the competition. I had to deal with that whole end of the spectrum and I saw strength in me that I didn’t know I had.”

Pressure on being the frontrunner, “When you come and you have so much expectation for someone and it doesn’t work out the way you wanted it, you tend to get disappointed. So I’m sure people got disappointed, like man, (laughs) ‘Dude I thought you were better than that.’ I’m like ‘Yo man, hold up!’ (laughs) But for me, at times, I was in the room with my mentors, like, ‘Man what do I do? What do I do?’”

Do Idols need to rearrange songs if they are to be successful? “It’s more than singing. It’s really, people wanna see a creative element. They wanna see an old song made fresh again. I think Idol from this point on, ever since last year, you can’t go on singing the same arrangement of a song. You’ll get bashed. It’s funny because there are some songs that I wanted to do, that I changed up, and I never got to do them. It kind of stinks because at this point it’s more than singing.”

He thinks it will be a tight race, “Well, you know, Kris is obviously really artistic and Adam has a way of capturing the audience. People need to vote. Don’t automatically assume somebody is safe, don’t have your assumptions. If you want somebody to win, you have to vote. I have a feeling it’s going to be a very tight race.”

He wants to start a movement, “I really want to start a movement with my music, it sounds so big, so cocky, but to start a revolution and change people’s hearts. I want to merge my music with my foundation. When I get a vision for a concert, I see opening up concerts and following with the story of a young kid whose father was killed in a gang and mother was a drug addict and how he’s had to overcome this and that and how Sophia’s Heart Foundation has effected him. I want to entertain people, but I want people to come out of their zone for awhile and look at other people’s problems. They’ll walk away feeling good and they’re going to want to make a change. My whole testimony is overcoming the impossible in my life and now I want to take that message that if I can do it, you can do it.”

Idol changed his life, “I was a nobody and the show turned me into a somebody and I’ll always be thankful for the roots that I came out of ’cause I do believe that this is not the end of the road. I’m just very grateful, I’m so thankful my life has turned around and I can’t say it enough.”

What his album will sound like, “I wanna mix a very soulful album with nice beats, like, nice R&B beats that get people’s heads moving and mix it with a hint of a Latin vibe and the reason is, I was with my wife for 12 years. She was Puerto Rican and I’m so into salsa and merengue and all the Spanish music, I want to mix it all into one arena, that’s what I wanna do.”

He wants to do a glasses line, “Y’know, I hope I made glasses cool for kids, man and that was kinda the word that I got out on the street. That kids were kinda excited to wear glasses again. Sometimes glasses can have a reputation for being nerdy but I wanna do my own glasses line, hopefully somehow tie it into the foundation and maybe some of the proceeds from the glasses can help whatever, whatever we decide to do with the foundation.”

What was Simon doing to Paula that the cameras wouldn’t show? He was like, suffocating her which was the funniest thing. She was on the ground and he had his hand over her moutgh and I talked to her after the show. She’s like, ‘Man, I couldn’t breath, I really couldn’t breath!’ To me, it was just the funniest thing ’cause I’ve just never seen that–they were kinda like wrestling, almost, in the chair.

HA! I've never even heard of 3/4 of those songs. Were they really big hits? When I think of creative talent, I'm not really thinking of songs written for Hillary Duff or the Pussycat Dolls. I guess that's not fair of me to say, b/c she is out doing the best she can. But for someone with her attitude...yeah, I don't think it's warranted.

I can't stand her or her attitude! From the beginning I wondered why she was even there :confused3 But the songs I listed were really big hits on Top 40 radio. I hate 75% of Top 40 radio so I agree, I don't exactly look at the Pussycat Dolls, Hillary Duff and Ashlee Simpson as "artists," but those songs did make it big :confused3 I don't even like when artists don't write their own songs so whatever

It doesn't really seem to matter who writes it, it always sounds like this:

All my life I struggled
All my life I tried
Many days I persevered
Many nights I cried

Then I took my puppy
And we headed to the west
We had to find that rainbow
Had to leave our safe warm nest.

Life can be so sad
With challenges on the way
But I finally have made it
Today is now my day.

Oh ya baby
Doo doo de doo mmm mmmmmmm
When life gives you lemons
Make lemonade

(key change)

Oh ya baby (insert growly voice here)
doo doo de doo mmmm mmmmmmmm
When life gives you lemons
You make lemonaaaaaaaaaaade.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: That was AWESOME!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I like this thread because it is a place to sound off about the contestants. I enjoy reading about what everyone thinks. Some of the comments have actually made me go back and listen to see what I might have missed. What has gotten old and extremely unpleasant are the posters that have gone on and on about not liking a particular contestant. It is OK to not like the way someone sings and to state that. But it seems to me that some posters have taken it as a mission to post negative comments about Adam over and over. Then they start feeding on each others comments and it never seems to end. I think that it is sad that their dislike has consummed them so much that have created a thread just to express dislike of Adam. I have felt free to express my dislike of the way certain performers sing but have tried to state that and move on. It would be unkind to create an "I don't like _______________" thread.

That was the point I was trying to make on the other thread. I actually laughed when I saw it. I haven't been on the boards in a few weeks because I've been busy with life, but I signed on the other day to catch up and was surprised to see the turn this thread had taken. There have been people who didn't like Adam from the beginning and it's fine. I don't care who does and doesn't like him, I don't even know the guy! But the comments got more and more vicious and over-the-top when Danny left, and all of a sudden it was a "My favorite contestant's gone, now off with their heads!" mentality. Then people started feeding off of each others hate, and anyone who disagreed or pointed it out was shot down as not being accepting of other people's opinions, when these same people were doing that exact thing ;) It all got very catty and childish, made even more so by creating an entire "We Hate Adam!" thread, so everyone could bash him uninterruptedly. Again, I like both finalists and don't care who wins (although I'm rooting more for Adam). I just find it hilarious how much time someone can spend talking bad about someone they don't like :confused3

Let's try to lighten up a bit and keep the thread fun :thumbsup2

American Idol has done the same thing for the past 8 years. Remember when Simon said something about criticizing the cow for mooing? That's pretty much how I feel about all the complaining about the show and its pimping. It has become a constant part of the program and if it is that upsetting to viewers then they should just stop watching. I guarantee the exact same thing is going to happen next year.

It's become almost comical! I keep remembering that the more detractors you have, the more of a threat you are. I wonder what would happen if I started a "who's not loving Kris what's his name" thread? It would go NOWHERE because no one HATES Kris (isn't that a show?) because there's not that much passion FOR him but AGAINST him.

And that kind of support doesn't work.

David Cook won because people LOVED him and wanted him to win. BAD. And they knew David A was a threat. I don't know how this is going to work this year. Adam has so many detractors who seem to be on a mission! :lmao:

The only way Kris is well matched with Adam is because the girls like him and he'll get their votes, there is no way he compares to Adam as far as singing talent. At this point I don't care who wins, Adam can really sing but he does screech too much, and Kris reminds me of the Jonas Brothers with his singing style, it makes me want to puke

I miss Alison :sad1:

Kris sounds NOTHING like the Jonas Brothers!!!!:headache:

:thumbsup2 No flames from me. I not only agree with the post but want to add that according to Ryan Seacrest’s radio interview, AI had no idea Katie Perry was going to do this. Adam's reaction was one of shock, and he covered his face when he saw her cloak.

In my last post I wrote about the inevitable backlash that comes from the judges overtly trying to manipulate this show. I don't believe anything is fixed, but the producers/judges try their darndest to influence the outcome. At one point an audience gets tired of being told what to do, and start to vote for the underdog, who is always being thrown under the bus.

Today on http://mjsbigblog.com/ there are lots of articles discussing this very thing, and I'm afraid to say that Adam may lose thanks to the perception that the judges are ramming him down the voter’s throats.

This morning at the gym I was listening to the studio versions of his songs again, and there is no word for his singing & interpretation except “outstanding”. In Whole Lotta Love , it took me a few seconds to figure out whether it was Adam or Robert Plant singing, and when I realized it was Adam, I have to admit that I liked his version better. When you strip away all the showmanship and just listen to the music, I don't think there's even a question as to who the superior vocalist is. When you add the showmanship, it's the icing on the cake for me.

As you probably all know, Kris won the coin toss and has decided to go first. Ironically, they had to re-film the coin toss and the next 7 throws came up Adam.

It doesn't really seem to matter who writes it, it always sounds like this:

Kris sounds NOTHING like the Jonas Brothers!!!!:headache:

I hear it. I like Kris but when he hits certain notes he gets really nasally and it makes him sound whiny. He has a nice voice but it isn't strong at all, so he needs to watch for that.

And why in the world would he win the coin toss and decide to go first?!!! I don't think that's ever happened before

You don't want to hear what I think Adam sounds like...so I won't say it. A lot of people would be so mad at me..

All I said was I think Kris sounds a little Nick Jonas'y on certain notes. No need to jump down my throat  The Jonas Brothers are huge, whether you like them or not. It's not exactly a bad thing.

Kris won the coin toss and Adam is singing first. I think the post above was just a mis-type.

I really don't think it matters who actually wins this now. The top two seem to get pretty much the same treatment. The winner's album will come out first and he will sing last at the concerts. I believe both get a car and I have no doubt that 19E will sign them both.

Ooohhh ok, that makes more sense. Adam puts on more of a show so it would have been fun for him to close it out with a bang. He'll be a hard act to follow, but we'll see if Kris can pull it off.

Sorry. :) I just don't really like the Jobros..so..yeah.

I don't either  I really like Kris though and have from the beginning. He just needs to watch the high notes when he can get nasally. I'm psyched to see what he does and what his album will sound like!
