...I know I might get flamed here, but I don't agree with the decision to make Ellen a judge...what makes HER an authority on the subject?? I mean, I really like her talk show, I've seen her in person, and she's got a great sense of humor....however, be that as it may, shouldn't someone who actually makes (made) a living outta singing be better qualified??

No flames here. I don't understand how she fits in, either. Although I do think she's really funny, that doesn't qualify her to judge a singing competition! I think AI / 19 just grabbed at a big name personality to help retain/ bring in some new audience after losing Paula.

Do you really think that people were going to stop watching because Paula was gone? I seriously don't see that but perhaps.

Ellen was a guest judge on SYTYCD and she's no authority on dancing either, but she was hysterical. I think she'll be an upgrade from Paula and will add some life to the show and should play off of Simon really well.

I'm not sure how I feel about Ellen being a judge. I do think the point of bringing Ellen in is so she can represent the "at home viewer". I think she understands what makes America really get behind someone. She's not callous like Simon. She's not obnoxious like Randy. And far more coherant then Paula. We'll see.

Have not heard Alison's or Danny's yet. Kris' I like. Adam's FYE I don't like at all but I am impressed by his "2012" song. ( I like something Adam sang! Fitting it is for a movie about the Earth being destroyed! ) The first time I heard it was when I saw this:

I LOVE disaster movies (and this one is spectacular -- saw it this weekend) and the song mixed with footage of L.A. falling apart was very well done.

I like Kris's album with the exception of a few songs. I think his single (Live Like We're Dying) is the best song on it.

I know it wasn't this season of Idol... but anyone have Carrie Underwood's new album Play On? It's great. I've listened to it 60+ times in 2 weeks and absolutely love it!

It's breathe and the lyrics are decent, I call this a C song from the writers who wrote it.

I listened to most of it and I enjoy it. It's the type of music I'm into though.

I was not a fan of Adam's first 2 singles and they don't seem to be doing too well. However, I AM still a huge Adam fan and have pre-purchased the album. There's lots of good songs - I esp. love Fever.

I do not like Allison's single at all. I like Danny's and I am thinking about getting Kris' album.

I was not a huge Adam fan during the show but I really like his song from the movie 2012 too. Much better than his single.
