Apparently over the course of the season a 178 million texts were votes for Idol this year. That's up oh about 100 million this year.

I disagree with the above bolded statement. DH and I love Dannys voice and it has nothing to do with his sob story. Sure we feel bad for him losing his wife at such an early age. But we still feel he is a good singer and deservered to be in the top 3.From May 16:
"What pi**es me off is that people think he's not talking about it (his sexuality) because he's scared of what'll happen. Look at the loving TV and tell me he's scared of weirding people out. Yeah right.
The truth is, American Idol shouldn't be about the contestants' silly personal stories. Had Danny Gokey not gone the Pity Party route, he would've been out sooner because he's just not that exciting of a singer. I don't want to see Adam on-screen whimpering about how hard it is to be a gay man in America because it doesn't have to do with his singing. Adam didn't want to fuse a sob story into his Idol persona. He wants to sing and entertain, not make people vote for him out of sympathy. "
I bet it goes up each year as texting overtakes phone calls.

I texted more then I called, it's easier for me.
I can't text. It takes me forever.
I can relate! I find texting incredibly tedious. But I am sure my age and phone have something to do with that. I cannot imagine how texting is faster than hitting redial.I would have to get to the texting part of the phone, put in the number and vote or whatever and hit send. With my phone I hit speaker to turn it on, then redial, and off -- over and over and over again.
How can texting possibly be faster??

I know with my old blackberry I could just hit resend and it would send the same text to the same number over and over. My iphone I just have to type vote everytime, which isn't to hard for me. I can do it in about 15 seconds or less.
I guess that doesn't sound so hard after all. I clearly have the wrong kind of phone. It is two years old and in "phone years" that is ancient!
...hey,then mine must be a DINOSAUR!! My phone is almost 7 years old!!! [...it's a step up from two cans and a piece of string....

Kimmar, how is your hubbie doing?
...eye is STILL not 100%...thanks for asking...![]()
Do they expect a complete recovery?
Little Adam quote I heard that I thought was funny.
A Revlon spokesperson said, "We believe he will be the hip new face that would appeal to the young and fabulous and artistic emo boys alike." Several church groups are calling for a boycott of American Idol and Revlon. One Alabama pastor was quoted as saying, "If we allow our young people to idolize this man, he will turn them all homosexual and our country will die out in a generation or two!"
When sought for response by reporters, Lambert said, "Oh honey, I aint that good!"
It seems like a more accurate count would be to let each phone number have one vote. I guess AI likes the very high numbers it gets from hours of the same people voting over and over.
